Title Stand by Me
I miss Qiyan and all the cast of this wonderful drama. Thank you for entertaining us. Thank you for making us…
I miss Qi Yan till this day haha,, i still rewatch the drama again. True, i also learn life lessons from this drama, people have their own reason for every thing they have done or thinking. Maybe some things, you might don't understand their reason because you have a different point of view in life, due to the way your upbringing or situation you have come across or other things, but we should find common ground and not judge/prejudice, and be more open heart and selfless.
All the actors and actresses and crews have done their best efforts, there are some regrets, but i enjoy this drama really much, i enjoy finding clues, figuring out their agenda, enjoy their journey of life.
And i especially enjoy discussing the drama with mydramalist friends here, laughing together, crying together, confused together hahaha,, i hope we still meet again in other dramas πŸ˜πŸ€—πŸ€—β€β€β€β€β€β€β€β€β€β€ peace and love!!!!

Feature interview from Yu Jun Ge/Stand by Me director and producer. They talk about the drama production and also about Cheng Yi.
https://video.h5.weibo.cn/1034:4679133964468244/4679134771415311
Cheng Yi during filming wrote quite a lot of character understanding, and communicate his point of view with them, but mostly with the producer. She explained in one of the conversation that is after Cheng Yi read the full script, he find that Qi Yan, although as emperor seem above people, but under the power/hegemony of eunuch, in the eyes of outsiders, he is the tyrant emperor who killed his emperor brother, is a weak puppet emperor. In front of Qiu Zhiliang, he is his god son. And he is all alone in this world, he knew very well in order to protect his country, he is bound to embark on a path of no return that has been scolded by thousand of people. He can't choose his destiny, even everything is given by others, including Cheng Ruo Yu. However what Qi Yan didn't expect is Yu'er is so pure and kind. Her existence is like a ray of light in the dark. It is precisely because of the company of someone, the path guarding his country, finally no longer alone.
And she also mention that Cheng Yi will write about his understanding of his character or for tomorrow scenes after they finished filming, which usually end really late at night, sometimes in 2 or 3 in the morning, but he still wrote such a long text, while tomorrow he already have to prepared for make up in 5 or 6 in the morning. Such dedication, touches her really much.
https://youtu.be/o-5fQhHacvw
And the director also mention the same thing, that after filming, he would sit still in his position and pondering about what he has filming that day, and asked whether this is good enough, or maybe he could try another angle. In one of the scene mention here, it is about what Qi Yan grandmother said about Qi Yan, that his eyes is like an eagle eyes. Although he already not present when his grandmother mention it, but Cheng Yi still concern about it, he asked whether his expression is enough in relevance to that scene, but the director said, it is already enough, because Qi Yan has to hide his real emotion to outsiders.
So Cheng Yi is really details and meticulous. By understanding more about his character and his surrounding, he understand the story as a whole. Cheng Yi’s perfect character creation comes from careful study of the script and deep empathy for the role.Β He really work hard in filming. With his hard efforts so he could portray such a vivid Qi Yan, that really touches our heart πŸ€—

Wait I'm really confused right now 😐 can someone please enlighten me πŸ₯Ί i ve read through many comments that…
Cheng Yi always maintain his professionalism with all his co stars. If you have seen in behind the scene of Love and Redemption and also in Stand By Me, he is friendly with both of them. But after filming, people may have lost communication or other things, so after 1 year they finished filming Love and Redemption, at the 1st live broadcast for promoting the drama, she even forget his name, while Cheng Yi still maintain his professionalism and collaborate with her in the promotion.
While Yu Xi and Xuan Lu still maintain their communication with Cheng Yi after filming, and they all familiar with each other, and collaborate together to promote the drama, Stand By Me. While now they are all busy with their own projects, but Cheng Yi and Yu Xi still have another drama to promote, so no wonder they still communicating with each other. And he still maintain his professionalism in his interaction with her, and not just her, but all his co stars.

I don't know her source are, but these 2 dramas are high budget dramas, you could see from the technology they use for CGI, Love and Redemption has good CGI. And so does Agarwood.

I think everyone has their own preference. Some people don't like they have to guess what the story is about,…
The drama original eps is 60 eps, then it got cut 5 eps to passsed censorship, and then cut another 6 eps, so they could aired in tv network. So there is a lot of cut indeed.
And like i said, people have their own preference, so maybe they score higher because that they think that drama is masterpiece while others don't, some people appreciate the story and the acting in the drama, some people don't understand the story or don't like the ending so their judge based on this. So i only believe in my own judgement. But for me, if i don't like the drama or the actor/actress involved in it, i choose to ignore it, i am lazy to comment about how bad they were. Why spend your energy to something that you don't like? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

People be here complaining about how the overall rating went down but I think it was only fair and natural for…
I think everyone has their own preference. Some people don't like they have to guess what the story is about, some people like to find clues in what each characters did and the reason behind their action. Some people think the male lead self sacrificing is absurd, some people understand his reason and sympathize with him. Some people think why all these people didn't just killed the villain, some people understand that each characters that involved have their own agenda, that may seems have the same goal, but they did it for different reason, such as some people just want revenge, some people want to take over the enemies power even if he have to deceive everyone and sacrifice himself to achieved it, some people want to make themselves the emperor by sacrificing others, some people want to make all the other party fight with each other and he will take over after they both exhausted without having to loose his own reputation, all these people strategize for their own agenda.
Romance is never these characters main interests, love came from how they understand each other, their love never blind their mind/thinking. Instead because they believe in each other make their love stronger.
Some people judge just by how it ended, some people judge by how the journey came to that ending, and figuring out what all these characters agenda/intention.
I think maybe this drama flaws is their editing because the story is quite tight pack but unfortunately they have to cut 11 episodes to meet the censorship requirement. And also, they quite ambitious that each characters have their own backstory, even small characters too, if they run with the initial episodes, i think it will be great, because i never see a drama that really depicts all the characters involved with layer of depth. Many dramas only used 2 dimension story for their support and small characters. In a way this drama has quite a rich characterization. Some people appreciate it and some people don't. So it is back to our own preferences.

Yes, this is also my question. If it get deleted, it is another story. But i still find it is odd.
I know there is not enough clues that Prince Guang or his man (the divine healer) who create the poison, but it didn't rule out the possibility.
So i think there are 2 possibilities about the ending:
1. Qi Yan deliberately drink Qiu Zhiliang's poison. He knew his death is to ensure the safety of his people/ministers, family, and Yu'er. Because if Qi Yan has a son, the heir will not be go to his uncle, he could only become his son's advisor, kinda like Xiao Cheng Xu with his nephew.
2. He didn't really drink Qiu Zhiliang poison, maybe he drink the similar effect meds, his objective is to fool the divine healer into thinking he drank QZL poison, and died in his attempt to fight the effect.
Anyway, i am still not sure. Although so far option 1 is more likely.

I think in history, it was Taoist alchemists who create the "immortal pils." Is Cheng Xi based on real people? πŸ€” In the drama, there were 3 possible people who could create it : Cheng Xi, the divine healer, and Prince Guang. But Cheng Xi only in the latter half joined in Qiu Zhiliang's camp. And she died first. So i think it leaves the other 2 people who have more higher possibility to create it.

But that spesific poison that Qiu Zhiliang used is actually pretty hard to make, it takes several months. And i've wonder who create the poison in the 1st place? πŸ€” who is around him that has that ability?🀨
And considering Qi Yan already prepared for that poison, isn't it possible that he may have find the counteraction? We've seen him able to avoid his poison before, by pretending to eat/drink it and then threw it out from his mouth. I think his condition, just like what you have said, may have been a result from the several stabbing. And because he need to heal quickly, so he used the meds from the divine healer. But he is actually has a good martial art, he should have able to recover in time.
So that poison from Qiu Zhiliang is rather odd.

True, he really need rest to really recuperate properly.
Hahaha point no.2 πŸ˜…πŸ˜… But i think he is really great with complex character, he could really display his expertise when he get a good script and good production, but maybe the balance between happy and sad is
needed in his role, at least for my mental health hahahhahaha...

I am still crying whenever i read his sentences and much worst when i see his pictures or even watch the videos. I really really love Qi Yan so very very much... 😭😭😭😭😭 i couldn't bring myself to make the final review. I am still very sad 😭😭😭😭😭 Fu Yun Shen kinda help but i couldn't take my mind off Qi Yan. I have bracing myself for this ending from the start, but when i finally see it,,,,😭😭😭
Yes, i also think he might be really died in the end, but there is something that i find it odd, that poison from Qiu Zhiliang, when he received it? Didn't he manage to avoid it several times? If it is when he get confined in the palace, didn't he already know how to bribe the eunuch? I still want to see if there is some clues left that could make it possible for him to survive. He knew there is something wrong with the divine healer medicine, he mention it to Yan Zhi the last time, it may seems it could heal him, but actually the effect would be more fatal. So maybe he doesn't really have good skill as a physician? πŸ€” Anyway, i am still on denial process now πŸ˜…πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜

No, he still want the throne. He only gave up because he notice there is something wrong with the edict. You could see from the micro expression exchange between Qi Yan and him when Qi Yan hugged him in that palace court. And he also know that Qi Yan is not gonna live long. But Qi Yan still gave it to him in the end, because he now realize what his weakness is, he is a man who really care about his reputation/image and unfortunately there is no other better candidate in Qi family. But i think, in the end he finally change his heart, when he realizes how much sacrifice that Qi Yan has done for their country.

I think they are channelling their anger to the wrong person. I heard the conflict for the female lead happen due to Youku has contract issue with Jing Tian. And Cheng Yi already chosen by Youku even before she join to replace her. Youku directly bought airing right for South Wind and Agarwood at the same time. And just like what you have said, what is done is done. Anyway, i am really looking forward to this drama, i hope they could finished filming soon and smoothly πŸ™
