I think you are missing the point where his uncle's men used Yan Zhi death body to threaten Yu'er, to get the edict. If he really respect his promise to Yan Zhi, which i doubt he is, why after Qiu Shiliang died, he immediately gather an armies inside the palace, used the edict to make Qi Yan guilty for usurping the throne, which can make him be prosecuted by law? I think if Qi Yan somehow survive, i don't think it is by the help of his uncle. If his uncle's plan has succeed before, he might let Qi Yan live, that is all. But to further helping him to fake his own death?
