I haven't really find enough information about the drama other than the trailers, because i think the drama is not novel based one, so i couldn't find some spoilers haha,, But that is also my impression when watching the trailer too, he has some closeness relationship with his partner. And there is a picture of him carrying a little kid, i am gonna pressumed that is his daughter.

Yes i also a bit confused about the time period after Qiu Shiliang died. I will rewatch it again to check it. If it is only few months, then you are right, it is maybe a happy ending. The reason why they change his name to Qi Yan, maybe so they could have more freedom with how the ending would be.
But i think, if Qi Yan somehow fake his own death, i don't think he asked for his uncle's help though. He really understand his uncle that much. He definitely want to use his "death" to ensure that he still use his loyal people/ministers and also his family from harm.

I finally watch till the ending 🙈 MangoTV subs turns out is not too bad after all, just a little bit mistake by translating names literally 😅
Anyway, i just want to put my theory on the final ending here,,
I think the reason why Prince Guang suddenly change his mind when he finally get the edict signed by the ministers, i think he sense there is something wrong with the edict, because Qi Yan is so sure of himself. I mean for a man who finally get what he wants after all those years, suddenly gave up it is kinda odd. And turns out he choose it wisely.
And Qi Yan, i think he knew that, but he realized that if he continue to fight this cold war with his uncle, it wouldn't do good to their country after all. And he actually didn't really want to have another blood on his hand. That is why, he immediately gave him his own edict to choose him to be the next successor, with that he ensure the safety of his people, his family (especially his own grandmother who actually not in good term with Prince Guang).
And with the way he decide to continue to use the poison to make his time left with sober mind, so he could govern the country well, i think it finally touch his uncle's heart. I want to believe that Qi Yan finally able to change him.
I am not sure what is the smile mean on Yu'er face, who knows maybe it is Qi Yan himself, or maybe their child? After all in history Li Yan did have children.
Qi Yan's death, i couldn't believe i watch another of Cheng Yi's character death scene after Xiao Cheng Xu. I cried really really hard 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 i couldn't breath,, 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Up to eps 44, i still couldn't figure Prince Guang out, and so does Qi Yan. Is it a case where the leader is innocence but get dragged by his people/allies that has bad intention? He is surrounded by Cheng Xi who did all the bad things, that by the way is really twisted that she used her own life to make Yu'er believe in her lie. And he also surrounded by that physician who used bad medicine for Qi Yan. I think to know the truth, the key is to know who capture Han Ding and Misha, and what is his intention.
Anyway, that Left Chariot, i think it is a shame if the scriptwriter turns him to be Qiu Zhiliang's man after all, that his only objective is to get revenge to Yan Zhi and to gain favor of Qiu Zhiliang. I think if he is Qi Yan's spy, it would be an interesting plot twist, because he even fool Qiu Zhiliang and Yan Zhi too, even Prince Guang, because he easily found out about Cheng Xi whereabout.
On the wedding, the contrast between how Yan Zhi and Yu'er's thinking toward Qi Yan, regarding Wang Yan incident, i think make Qi Yan missed Yu'er a lot. Thankfully after what happen to Yan Zhi due to Yu'er get missleading by Cheng Xi, she finally willing to cooperate together with Qi Yan and understand Qi Yan more.
I am in dillema between want to watch the raw eps or waiting the eps with the proper subs 😅😅 I only wish the scriptwriter give a smart ending to this drama, all that conspiracy will be answered with good logic and interesting twist. And above all, i hope Qi Yan can win!!! ✊

He maybe the weakest from all of them, but he uses his "weaknesses" as his advantages 😏 Thankfully the writer didn't make Qi Yan just a tool, because he is really a smart and brave person. And he is willing to throw away his dignity, his life, so he could fulfill his promise to his late brother, his mentor, for the glory of the country, so all their sacrifices didn't come in vain ✊ So he must win!!!
