While Cheng Yi previous dramas, the story is more simpler, so i could understand most of it by watching raw. I mean even with english sub, i still miss some of the clues 😅 Anyway no wonder the audience in China, they said, to watch this drama, they really need to learn history, because the clues are there. Anyway with good story and good acting, the drama will eventually be watched by more people. For South Wind, i think with Youku good promotion, the drama will be more wellknown, and the story is more happy vibes, and not as heavy than this drama, so i think it will be more welcome.

I think Yan Zhi really did love Li Yan, because Li Yan is actually kind and gentle person, he only kill her family because he was forced to. But it didn't change the fact what he had done. She killed herself after Li Yan died.

1. Because Qi Yan actually has power, his martial art skill is taught by him. In all those years before he become emperor, he helped him to eliminate Qiu Shiliang enemies. Why he didn't kill Qi Yan and become emperor, because eunuch power came from kings/emperor. He doesn't have justified cause to be emperor, because he is an eunuch (get catastrophed), it is one of criteria of king/emperor that he failed to be. And because he is afraid to be comdemn in history for being a tyrant. His name will be condemn for generations. So he need puppet emperor. I think Qi Yan afraid Qiu Shiliang would kill Qi Rong, because he could install another prince to be his puppet, not necessary need him.
About the troop, that exactly why Qi Yan is asking, why Li De Yun easily got captured when he has army of his own. And Qi Yan's troop is with Han Ding outside the palace. Qiu Shiliang has more power within the palace city area, but he is rather weak outside. But the landlords/nobles outside are more concern for their own well being, that is why Qi Yan want to unite them. And also he want to get support from Zhengwu army (Liu Misha), but this maybe failed.
2. The right minister subordinate didn't really broke her bone, she only made it seem like this, that is why she get scared when Qiu Shiliang asked Yu'er who help her. And Yu'er has good martial art skill, so she can help Qi Yan to see Qi Rong. But i think Qiu Shiliang also let him.

I think because the charade that Qi Yan gave is too good, so not many people know the truth, and he himself also doesn't trust anyone, even his allies. And that fact actually the one who kept him alive after all this time, because to Qiu Shiliang, he is not a threat, he is in debt to him because he made him the emperor.
I still don't think that his late brother actually gave the throne to Prince Guang in his edict. I have read, but the male leads in the novel are 2 people. So the drama only keep the background story of when it happen, that is the massacre of Wang Ya family, and in ruling of Li Yan Tang dinasty.The male lead are Li Rong and Li Yan. Li Rong with Bing Er (her characterization similar with Yu'er). Li Rong a bit similar with Qi Yan but more childish. Li Yan with Yan Zhi. Li Yan is more gentle. Li Rong died to save Yu'er. And Li Yan died from being poison by Yan Zhi, but love her actually, so i think he deliberately allowing her, because he did killed her family. And Yan Zhi killed herself. Prince Guang is only small role, didn't really involved. I forgot what happen to Qiu Shiliang, maybe he still alive? Anyway i think the novel quality is not top notch, more kinda teenflick novel.

I already cry from the beginning, when he asked those 3 questions to Qi Rong 😭😭😭😭😭 when he didn't even say the 3rd one, the reason is even more heartbroken. And continue to when he is jealous of the man that would make Yu'er happy. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I think both dramas are great! But it depend, if you want to watch it for his acting, then both are great. But if you are more concern for his well being in the drama, then that another story hahahahaa,, 😅😅😅
