I only watched eps 31 of Xiao Zhuang Epic, because i want to see how they created the scenes in eps.50. I think The Promise of Chang'an created a better storyline for those scenes and i like how the scenes are portrayed, with how the battle was, how Ming Yu reacted and how Qi Yuan finally shown remorse and repent. And off course i much prefer Cheng Yi's Xiao Cheng Xu portrayal too. I think they changed the story to a better one. Xiao Zhuang Epic is too pitiful and seems so bleak. There is Li Rong in the drama, the actor is Bai Shu. But from the character chart map, he doesn't have any relation with the FL. So i think his character will be following the actual historical figure, not the novel. Yes Qiu Yan Zhi in the novel seems close to Prince Guang too.
