ngl i'm kinda disappointed in the storyline so far. ep 1 & 2 started off pretty well, but what followed was really…
Well, it is slow burn mixed with slice of life (which is probably the filler scenes you're talking about) so it will progress slowly, especially since they don't seem to have a serial killer side plot. π
This is going great guys.Every time Kdrama hit me with that: "Parent sacrifice almost everything for their family".…
I don't think anyone knows about him cheating on her yet. I kinda hope they all find out while he's in Korea so everyone can gang up on him and make him feel like a lowlife on her behalf! π
Who is the actress playing Seung-Hyo's ex?Is she the same with Seo Dan from CLoY, for me they looks similar but…
I thought she looked so different! Like I can tell she's the same actress but at the same time she felt unfamiliar. Maybe it's because I haven't heard her speak without the North Korean accent?
Great points, but such content is very rare in Kdramas typically. That's probably why people are talking about…
Well, I can definitely see that OTT and network shows have quite different content and their ratings don't apparently mean the same thing. I will be more alert to these differences moving forward.
It seems most of us hoi polloi Kdrama watchers are not as well-researched or as informed as you. π Please forgive us for spamming the comments with our ignorance.

I think one of the problems with our ability to discuss this is that it seems you define Kdramas more broadly than I do, and my definition includes the formula parameters present from censorship and network TV over the years that has brought about the "Kdrama," for the most part, whereas yours doesn't (from what I can tell, though I know I'm assuming).
To me, just because it has Korean actors, is set/takes place in Korea and generally has 8-16 episodes DOESN'T make it a Kdrama. It's a TV show or a mini series, for sure, but not necessarily a Kdrama. I think that's partly why we're disagreeing. I've never seen an OTT I guess, that's also a sageuk, and I'm probably not the only one hence all the people talking about the surprising content.
I'm not saying R rated stuff doesn't have mature stuff, I'm saying the Kdramas that I'VE seen that were rated mature (the stuff NOT on Netflix or Disney+, for instance) NEVER had sex or nudity. It had mature content, but not THAT kind of mature content. So, I don't expect it when I watch a traditional Kdrama rated mature, because in the past it's never been an issue. I imagine others are reacting the same.
I'm still getting used to knowing how to parse OTT vs. network, but it's comments like the ones you're frustrated with that help me to know whether it's something I want to see, so I don't mind them and rather appreciate them. Sorry we will have to agree to disagree, I think. π«€
it's mentioned there it will be gore , violence & nud** but still watching them it's your fault literally it's…
I've seen quite a few 18+ Kdramas and they've never had nudity or sex scenes; without the tags (of which there are none), how are people to know? The comments can help with that.l now, but I bet people went into and got shocked.

I'm not sure about ample amounts (you'd have to show me a list of dozens of examples to get me to believe there's ample Kdramas with nudity/sex that isn't censored when compared against hundreds upon hundreds of dramas). I'm just saying that's probably why people are discussing it.
Also, sometimes the 18+ is just for profanity, smoking and violence, that sort of thing, and doesn't always usyally sex scenes and nudity (I would say most Kdramas (all I've seen) don't have that kind of stuff even with the 18+ rating and I've seen quite a handful).
Besides, the reason why many watch Kdramas is because they're looking for entertainment without that kind of content. And for some people (and largely those who watch Kdramas), it's not trivial. Many Kdrama watchers flock to Kdramas because they can watch fantasy, action and romance without lewd innuendos, gratuitous sex and violence. So, that's why you're seeing lots of people talk about it. They're not used to this! And the tags and description (apart from the 18+ designation) says nothing about sex or nudity. You could always try to add tags, if you want to help change people's expectations, I suppose. π€·ββοΈ
We probably don't see eye to eye on this anyway, but I think it's completely understandable that it's a hot discussion topic here. (But that's just me)
doesnβt anyone think that little girl is the journalists daughter ? (the man with his glasses i forgot his name)…
Can single men adopt in Korea? π I got the impression he adopted her because he's a bleeding heart and is always trying to help people. He was also avoiding the question about his past so I wondered if he was adopted as well and so why he adopted the little girl? π€·ββοΈ Just a few theories based on the little we know so far, haha. (And of course if single men can't adopt that puts an end to this theory. π )
Why does the "Original Creator" for this (does that mean he's a webtoon author this is adapted from?) have Alchemy of Souls listed on his profile? I thought the Hong sisters wrote Alchemy of Souls? Confused...

The very end of Season 1 got a bit over-the-top, though. Hopefully Season 2 would pull the stakes back down a bit.
