I am not that sure of a happy ending..swing kids had no happy ending. The thing is she creates a situation where…
Right. They had the whole last episode be about her leaving him so she could heal in the ocean, for a potentially indefinite period of time, and then he also apparently forgot her. Then they get back together right at the end and live happily ever after. 😅 I showed this drama to my sister a few months back and she was like, "What's up with the ending? The separation in this one was completely unnecessary." The drama was even longer than the typical 16 episodes, too!
But that might be her only drama with an actual happy ending? MLFAS implied that one day they'll be together permanently when he doesn't have to disappear to his alien world (wasn't my favorite ending), and then CLOY, of course, has them seeing each other two weeks out of every year... somehow she made that one work, haha, cause the ending scene is so cute. But in reality I wouldn't call it "happy."
I don't think we're supposed to care about them together yet. Cause you're right, we have no reason to root for…
I think it depends on the drama; I usually like one of the main leads sooner than this, but not always. I think it's enough to feel bad for them, rather than like them, but I get it. I probably wouldn't usually stick around either if I didn't like more characters, but I feel confident the characters will improve and there's a lot I'm still intrigued by!
My theory regarding the FL is that her illness started taking over a little into their marriage as they looked…
I think this is a common pitfall of most reunited lovers plots, and why I generally don't like them. I've felt the way you described feeling with this drama with other dramas (like in Our Beloved Summer and Welcome To Samdalri), but not with this one so far. There's too much interesting stuff going on in the present to keep me engaged. :) Honestly, my theory is they were never properly in love to begin with, just allowed themselves to run away with their emotions impulsively and then discovered who the other was after marriage and grew apart (which wasn't hard to do with their unhealthy family/work setup). So this might be their first time falling in love with the actual person rather than some idea of them. 💁♀️
despite the ML and FL being two of my favorite actors to watch im not vibing with this drama at all? i suspect…

Well, if they didn't do the time jump, this would be a different drama. This is about them falling in love for a second time, which means they can't spend reams of time showing us their first love except in hindsight because the nature of the plot and premise. They will show us how he got here, but it will take time for them release all the details.
If I am being completely transparent. It is nothing special.First two episodes were a bit boring. I skipped A…
It's leaning into makjang tropes and characters but it's no makjang. It doesn't feel petty or dramatic enough. This feels much more grounded. I feel more like it's poking fun at makjangs, no?
Makjangs use sad and horrifying stuff to shock the viewer into watching sordid human behavior just because. In my opinion, this drama isn't gonna ultimately make light of hardship or treat it as a plot device for dramatic effect. It's going to say something meaningful about people and their relationships. My prediction, at least. May be wrong, of course!

Ah, I LOVE Zuko. Also my favorite character. Shows/movies always kill off the character after they "turn good" and instead, Avatar did the harder, bolder move and showed him change into a good person. One of my favorite redemption arcs of all time!! I fell in love with his character when I discovered Avatar a few years ago (much too late!). I feel a bit bitter his story wasn't a part of my childhood, honestly, cause he's just the coolest.

Are you talking about the Avatar movies with James Cameron? We were talking about Avatar: The Last Airbender. :)
