Aha, it has almost all the elements I love in a drama:
1. ANGST. It's hard for me to naturally pull emotion so any drama that can force overwhelming emotion from me is great.
2. Morally gray characters
3. Enemies to lovers - Show me how there's a fine line between hate and love
4. Dark/mature themes- I really enjoy psychologically complex narratives that include real underbelly/taboo concepts people might not like to talk about but are very real while still being purposeful (not just some horror fest)
5. Solid characters that aren't one-note.
6. Romance isn't the main plot point
7. Solid acting from the entire cast
8. Solid production (bgm fits scenes well, action scenes are amazing, shots are nice, etc)

Hi sorry! Hijacking to ask another question related to the love drug. In the novel is it still YXW’s idea to drug her sister and prince ling (the bully) and the plan was just intercepted by TTJ? I’m wondering because how would YXW have known about that kind of drug made by a tribe associated with a totally different kingdom? just wondering if they explained it more.

I’m completely obsessed with this song. the first time I properly noticed it was during the festival when TTJ was emperor. I repeated that scene like 5 times before going on with the rest of the ep.

And the fact that YXW literally triggered the start of his nightmare I didn't even notice until watching again. The original YXW is the actual devil. The way he got up like 'excuse me what happened to YBC???'
