In the book the joke goes on for way too long and it's about Chinese people eating dogs AND snakes. What a tone deaf thing to keep in the show.

Nuer took one good look at Syn and knew he was being jealous about his concern over Kuea AND managed to talk him out of it using a Buddhist term no less lmao. If it were any of the other two couples, this issue would've dragged on for 3 more episodes

The novel does go into detail about why the fell in love with each other in high school and why Kluen is emotionally cold and quiet. I hope they go into it next episode!

Plus, his conversation with Gia shows that he's really trying. To him, he's being super obvious - telling Dao that he can share his resort, that his mom is also Dao's mom, taking him out, buying him stuff - it's SO much outside of Kluen's comfort zone, but it's too little, too late for him, especially when others are being so aggressive in their pursuit of Dao.

In the novel, Kuea was getting royalties from his music, but had no idea since he's even more of a child there and has no clue how to manage his finances or even what the concept of credit and debit into a bank account looks like.

Nuer/Syn are the same age, weren't engaged to marry each other from the age of 7, and don't have weird power dynamics. It's no surprise they're the fan fave couple.

I find it ironic that we all praised this series for breaking the 'engineering college' trope in Thai BLs only to end up liking the engineering side couple lol.

Yup, it exists. Though in recent years (since 2020), there has been some pushback from students because these kinds of competitions glorify lookism. The point is to choose an ambassador to represent the school, yet people are being chosen for their looks. One university completely abolished their Moons/Stars contest while others are looking into it.

Probably because the word Nuea used 'P' to call his older brother is a prefix that you can use to can ANYONE older than you. There isn't really a distinction between blood relatives and friends/partners. Plus, him and Fah have different last names so whenever he calls him P'Fah, everyone just assumes he's talking about someone older.

It's a language subtlety that gets lost in translation.

Thank God Kuea has his music "career" (in quotes because I haven't seen him do a single music related thing in 7 episodes), because otherwise he'd 100% be at the mercy of Lian financially, emotionally, physically, mentally.

Edit: Also, whose idea was it go give Kuea those ridiculous sunglasses? When the camera panned over to him sitting like that wearing those monstrosities indoors, the scene almost turned into a comedy skit

My only consolation here is that Joong fully knows how frustrating Kluen is being, posting memes of him hitting Kluen and trying to calm down fans who hate him now lol. That just means this is going to get resolved since the actors and director probably intended to make him this way right now. I just hope they don't drag it out too much. We just have 8 episodes! Give us 3 of KluenNuea being cute.

This was so hilarious, I keep coming back to it whenever work gets too stressful for me. Honestly, the level of warmth and comfort this review gives me is what I expected from Cutie Pie going into it.

Also, I'm tossing Star in My Mind into the ring of shows you should rather be spending time on. It has the chemistry, the fluffy, 'don't think too much about it' plot, and a couple where both leads are the same age and of similar social status. The bar is low.

What I appreciate about the show too is that though one lead confessed to the other in high school and got rejected, he still tries to work on building a normal friendship with the guy once he realizes he's going to be spending a lot of time with him for a college contest. That's a level of maturity I didn't expect from a BL series, especially after sitting through 9 episode of Cutie Pie and having to deal with Kuea who behaves like a 10-year old in a 16-year old's body.

It’s getting there! People initially weren’t too excited because of the relatively cliche plot, but after the first two episodes aired, word of mouth made it gain more steam for sure. It’s YouTube views and Twitter engagement is pretty good for an unpromoted series with a brand new CP!

Ofc, this doesn’t have the hype of Cutie Pie or KinnPorsche, but those two shows were heavily marketed since 2021 and people have been looking forward to it. I think GMMTV will pick up marketing for SIMM now that the show is getting more popular so hopefully it only grows!
