Sometimes they actually do. For example, in this drama, how both ML and FL were able to portray PTSD and PTSD/depression phenomenally. And we know that neither has experience with either disease. So unless the actors did their own homework on how to portray their respective characters that’s really the only answer I can come up with how disjointed this whole scene was.
LZ thinks he can do it. He thinks he’s stable enough. The truth of the matter is he’s on very shaky ground and he does not even realize it. He may be stable for a bit, but that doesn’t mean he’s completely stable and forget cured.

The whole Dr. giving him the greenlight to go back is absolutely mind-boggling to me. Now that I have seen the entire scene, it makes me wonder just how much research producers and screenwriters actually did. Just because a patient is stable does not mean you throw them back into the same situation that caused them trauma in the first place. Once diagnosed with PTSD soldiers and volunteers are discharged. The goal is to get them stable to be able to live every day lives not to throw them back where the condition originated. Other examples for PTSD with people coming out of abusive environments or medical traumas; just because we’re stable does not mean you toss us back into the shark infested waters. Stability means stability to live a normal every day life.
The only correct thing she said out of that entire scene was that Mr. L had to be a supportive boss and friend. Which he already was. But the fact that a video was enough to get her to perform a psychological exam deeming him stable, which is OK but then say “sure go back to where your trauma originated” is just malpractice at best.
