Yeah I feel you, it really isn't a convenient time for most of Europe 😠I personally thought the VOD would be dropping immediately after the live version *with* subtitles (I really don't get why they don't add them since they already exist??) and then it just didn't lol. At least next time I know I'll have to be recording
In case anyone needs the link to the AI subbed video, shoot me a DM (just don't wanna drop the link out in the open)

The live episode had subs, they just didn't add them to the VOD for some reason so not sure if they'll ever make them available. They're AI-generated but ok enough to understand (except for lyrics). Someone uploaded the episode with the AI subs already but fansubbers (same as for previous seasons) are working on real subtitles atm
It was shown at a few festivals in 2024 and will apparently be shown in March of this year in London. Otherwise it seems it's only available on some torrenting websites with no subtitles
I feel like there is too much action (surgeries) and not enough character development.
I wouldn't say there was too much action but I also would've loved to know more about these characters. I feel like they made it look like they were gonna reveal some things so I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop but it simply never happened.
Like when Jae Won mentions his outfit was given to him by someone and Kang Hyuk says something about his mother, then Jae Won looks kinda dejected? It looked like they were setting something up but nope, nothing. Same with his relationship with Ji Yeong. At least they'll have something to work with if they go for a 2nd season, but sadly I doubt it's gonna happen. Kinda feels like it was written to be a short, wholesome one-season series.
I loved the shit out of it, and with the little time they had it's alright they preferred focusing on current events and team bonding. The characters were great though so we're bound to want to know more. I guess there wasn't supposed to be anything particularly interesting about their past but I feel like I got baited a few times into thinking they were gonna drop some lore lmao. Not saying they should've had an entire episode focused on that but maybe a conversation, a few sentences here and there for us to work with.
I am not sure why you didn't like ep 4 but I cracked up a lot, Gong Ryong made me laugh a lot when he jumped out…
I have no idea how I should take your comment lmao. It feels patronizing but I'm just gonna assume it was made in good faith.
My problem was the first part of the episode, the entire rescue thing. There were too many issues and inaccuracies for me to enjoy it, and imo some of their writing choices undermine Eve as a character.
Yes, obviously, I've watched other fictions. No, not everything is supposed to be like real life. I'm sure you've watched TV shows where things happened, didn't make sense, and made you think the writing/direction was lacking. Since sci-fi is based on science, ignoring or getting some minor things wrong can be alright, but when it's something major that would change the entire plot I personally think it's a shame and that writers could do better.
I'm glad you're enjoying it. I like it too so far in spite of that, I just think they could've handled this differently and in a way that makes more sense. They for sure did research, so it's disappointing. It wouldn't be disappointing if the show wasn't interesting to begin with.
These people who go on full war mode and attack people who "spread negativity". Using the label "hater" is a pure…
Yeah, comment sections are alright for some kdramas and absolutely unbearable for some others. Makes you wonder why they scroll down here if they don't want to hear what people think. I'm here because I like hearing others' opinions, especially if they point out plot holes or flaws I didn't notice, or the things they liked I might not even have considered. I don't want this place to become some kind of echo chamber.
I've been visiting reddit way more these days. Discussions are much more interesting and respectful over there.
Well, this sentence -> "but sci-fi has a meaning. It's not supposed to be fantasy." Isn't really in touch tho,…
ShortCircuit already answered very well but since you took time to write this, I'll answer anyway. I appreciate you sharing your perspective respectfully.
First of all, I did say that taking artistic liberties was alright, obviously, but there is a limit to what is an artistic liberty and what is just bad writing imho. No one will ever agree on where that limit should be set though. Even if hair not floating isn't 100% accurate, it isn't an issue in the big scheme of things. It's so minor it wouldn't change the plot if they did it right, plus there are some technical limitations too.
When it comes to aliens, it is something we humans have been theorizing about forever. It's not that far-fetched. What would be realistic for their appearance/behavior doesn't matter because we know nothing about it so that's when fiction kicks in.
I haven't seen any wuxia drama but if they give an actual scientific explanation as to why and how it works, then yes it COULD be sci-fi (not gonna give definite answers on shows I know nothing about). Doesn't necessarily mean it is good sci-fi. Sci-fi is based on what we know as of now, real science and theories. If the writers can't even get the science right for things we do know atm, then I find it a bit alarming for what's to come. It's different from trying to make a time traveling story work, for example, since we don't know the science behind that or if it even is possible (hence the fiction part). When it comes to sci-fi, writers that care do try to make it make sense scientifically, most of the time.
If a character can just teleport/fly because they have magical powers and it's considered normal in that universe, it's fantasy and that's okay too, because that comes with the genre. It's a superpower, no one is going to ask for explanations when it comes to that. But if you're watching a regular slice of life in a modern setting and someone starts defying the laws of physics for no reason, I assume you're gonna wanna know why. What isn't sci-fi and would just be bad writing is, for example, if a character falls from the top of a skyscraper and doesn't die when it's just a regular human in a regular world. Which is the equivalent of what they did in ep 4. I am personally not accepting of that and will most definitely criticize it.
Episode 4 is not just asking me to suspend my disbelief, it's asking me to iron my brain, holy fucking shit. Yeah you can take some liberties when writing a show, but sci-fi has a meaning. It's not supposed to be fantasy. This was way too much, not a single thing was right in that rescue scene.
It's a shame because it does feel like they did some research but then just decided shit on it because, surely, that was the only way to move forward the romance plot. When you have a budget like that, you can and should do way better in terms of writing. It's okay if you as a viewer don't care but some people do. Taking some artistic liberties and straight-up nonsensical events are two different things. Telling people who expect better to "go watch something else, it's fiction, it's not supposed to be realistic" is, and always will be, plain dumb. People on this website call any slight criticism "hate" and it's fucking exhausting. We just have to think everything is perfect all the time or shut up.
The rest of the show is fine too, it has some flaws but I really liked the first three episodes. That's why it's frustrating. It definitely has potential and I'll keep watching because I'm interested in the characters and the story, but it's been a while since a show last made me want to punch a hole through my screen so hard lol.
Loved seeing Hash Swan and Gwangil perform together, they're both rappers I've been wanting to see collab for a while. Never ever thought it would happen before this show so now I can die happy. Also that little reference to Kitsyojii lol? Not sure how I feel about what they did to Mckdaddy's voice tho. It sounds slightly better in the studio version but yeah. Considering the overall level of Block 6, it's only right they got eliminated even though it means saying goodbye to a few good rappers. They're no match for Blocks 2 and 3 as they are.
I'm surprised Tobi and Foggy's song didn't win. Block 3's song was good too but it's just very different vibes and emotional ones tend to do better. It's annoying when a song wins just because of a sob story, but this one was genuinely good. Tobi sounded really nice
Also Kid Milli next episode? They're bagging these feats lol
Knew as soon as we saw Zico in the teaser that the team that got that feat would win. Obviously it was J-tong. Their song was just too fucking good, no match lmao. Hyped af for that Hash Swan/Jo Gwangil stage next week. I've always wanted to see them collab but I never thought it'd actually happen
Lol'd at Gwangil practicing with Outsider's lyrics kaogaii used in his diss track against him and fast rappers. The fact that they're on the same team was already funny enough on its own
If you follow the khh scene and liked Show Me The Money and such, you'll enjoy it. Many great contestants, including some that aren't listed here (like Jo Gwangil, Hash Swan, Fleeky, J-TONG,...). So far they've really been focusing on the rapping which is an absolute delight.
This was entertaining enough to watch until the end, but in the way you'd watch a train wreck out of morbid curiosity. At some point I lost all hope it'd get better and I just wanted to see how much worse it would get. It wasn't boring to me, so there's that. But there's this particularly frustrating feeling about watching a show you know could've been good before they decided to ruin it and do the bare minimum.
It's honestly exhausting how the writers of these shows are content with just scratching the surface. There was so much that they could've developed like idk, mental health, toxic family relationships and abusive parents, taking accountability? They had so many flawed characters and those are usually great to analyze... when they're well-written that is. Here everyone is plain dumb. They simply couldn't be assed to go past that surface level. They probably think the viewers are dumb too. And this is not because of the genre. Comedies can still be deep and serious at times, it's all about balance.
Probably would've been much better if it had just focused on the family aspect and how fucked up the entire experiment is. The romance and the stalker/killer plot lines were a part of what killed the show's potential.
Completely disagree in fact to the point where SML needs to do one. Also clearly cause of brother falling into…
People have already made up their mind about who the characters are bc of the first episodes and won't budge, it seems. They only want to see everything everyone who's not ML does in a negative light... Honestly it's a shame, it's making the comment section boring when there's a lot of interesting stuff to talk about when you take a step back.
Hopefully by the end of the show (if the writers don't ruin it), people will see things a bit more objectively.
Completely disagree in fact to the point where SML needs to do one. Also clearly cause of brother falling into…
"his brother stole everything from him" -> That isn't true tho? He didn't steal anything from him. His parents forced SML into a career path that he doesn't care about, most likely bc they wanted to compensate for Goon's loss. Yet SML has been putting up with it because he's been blaming himself for his brother's accident (which isn't his fault) for years, and feels like he has to make up for it by living his dream. The writers have made it clear that Shin cares and loves him but also thought that Goon hated him.
Imagine you're a super young child and your brother's dream is ruined because he protected you. Then after that, your parents send him away. So you lost your brother, you blame yourself for it, think he hates you and on top of that you have overbearing parents constantly pressuring you with their crazy expectations. That's not healthy.
This is clearly something that is to be blamed on the parents, not on his brother. If they had taken Goon to a doctor, cared for him, he probably could've kept playing tennis. Shin is not perfect and I agree his behavior wasn't good in the first episodes but let's be fair.
(Also we have no idea how Goon treated him after coming back to the house which might explain some things. I think they'll show us later. We also don't know what happened at the bridge yet. Clearly the writers are trying to lead us on)
Ep4. SCREAMING KICKING ROLLING, OMFG!!FL AND SML SHIP HAS TO SAILðŸ˜ðŸ˜ I AM OBSESSED WITH THEIR DYNAMIC AND…
The hate for SML is overexaggerated in this comment section lol. People who hate him probably won't budge no matter what because they've already made up their mind. They're seeing everything he does in a negative light because of the first episodes.
Goon and Shin both grew up with the same awful parents. One was abandoned, and after coming back he was treated like shit. That's awful. But the other basically became the parents' last chance to hit the jackpot and make big money. Their (too high) expectations, their lack of consideration (bro barely knows what a compliment is???), it was all transferred to him. That's not easy to live. Overbearing parents can be as bad as absent parents imho. Plus the writers made it very clear that Shin blames himself for what happened to Goon when they were younger. Having your brother disappear from your life at such a young age, thinking it's your fault and that he hates you, all that while having to deal with such parents and meet their expectations, being forced to do something you don't like... that's not a good situation either. There's probably this nagging thought: "if I fail, will they also abandon me?" that must be looming too. I could honestly talk for hours about what kind of consequences such events can have on someone's mental health lol!
No one is perfect here and honestly, we don't really know what happened between the time Goon was abandoned and the time he came back. The parents don't deserve shit, but the accident and its consequences weren't his brother's fault. We don't know how Goon acted upon returning. People who have lived with someone suffering from depression will know how hard it can be, which is why I hope they reveal a bit more about that time! Clearly they showed Shin being an ass in the first few episodes, but it's obvious he cares and loves his brother. We lack data from before these events tho, there are so many things to take into account.
Sorry for the rant but idk, I think the situation is pretty interesting!
