As one of the international audience that had read the novel using google translate despite it make me had headache sometimes while reading it, I feel actress Chen Du Ling's appearance is suitable as the main female lead. She has gentle ladylike aura, like how a wife of young master from high status family in China republican era should be.

I'm sorry but the main male lead's character in the novel is more domineering and possessive than in this drama.
The main male lead already become possessive and domineering in the novel after he saw second male lead being touchy (there is also a kiss between them in the novel) with main female lead before they get into contract marriage.
Based on the trailer of this drama, maybe he will become full of jealousy in their marriage life later because of second male lead.
Main male lead's character that come from high status/rich family in Chinese drama/novel/manga with genre that mainly about romance in the republican era setting is usually domineering and possessive.
I think they are like possessive young master/duke/prince/crown prince in Chinese costume dramas or possessive CEO in Chinese modern romance drama.
I don't means to prevent you to watch this drama but just give some warning. This is not the drama you watch if you don't like toxicity.
