Reincarnation is the way that I think the screenwriter can convince audiences about the main leads mutual romance without being unfair to Bong Hwan or So Yong.

I feel the scenes of her asking her adopted cousin to call her name because she feel like she is not herself and the "Desert Your False Self" word that she sew before she threw herself in the lake kinda giving hint about this theory. In episode 5 there is a scene in the kitchen where the little girl asked the current queen whether her dog is a human in other life and she replied "Maybe"

If "they are different soul but swapped to help each other" theory, then it is weird not because current queen is man in modern time but it kinda deceiving the king when they have mutual romance since she is using other people's body.

If "Bong Hwan is descendent of the queen" theory then it more weird because isn't it like current queen romancing her ancestor's husband?

So for now I believe the "Jang Bong Hwan in the future is the reincarnation of the Kim So Yong in the past" theory.

When watching historical drama we can't apply our modern mindset.

You don't want it but they are main leads and their characters are based on the real royal couple in the Korea history so yes they will end up together.

Some peoples don't understand that we can't use our modern mindset when watching historical dramas especially involving royalty.

The higher your position, the more people will try to bring you down. And you can easily die too.

Also, majority of kings, emperors, kings and men in the royalty around the world in historical times have concubines not just in ancient Korea.

If they offended, they shouldn't watch historical dramas especially when the main male lead is a king LOL

I don't think there is anything happen between them right now at least on the Hwa Jin's side. But in the relationship chart for the characters, his brother character has arrow with the word "affection" to Hwa Jin.

Later when Hwa Jin turn to dark side when she see the king falls in love with the queen, she might scheming because desperate to get the king's affection back and his brother might blame/resent the queen cause to be the cause of this and sided with Hwa Jin.

Just hoping he won't betray the king though. And his brother might has potential for sad/tragic ending whether from sacrifices himself to protect Hwa Jin or his brother.

I never considered the king as a bad guy, he has his own burden as a king and become suspicious of her because of her corrupt clan.

Nah, the main leads are Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun.
They are the endgame.

Impossible they give main male lead to actor Kim Jung Hyun but make actor Na In U, the second male lead to end with Shin Hye Sun.

Korean drama's rule:
*Main lead will end up together no matter how second male lead's fan want he end up will main female lead.
Well there may main female lead who end up with second male lead before but it rare.

For this drama I really love Kim Jung Hyun and Shin Hye Sun chemistry together. I want they to see their romance be it So Yong & Cheoljong or Bong Hwan & Cheoljong. I don't care, they are still Kim Jung Hyun and Shin Hye Sun anyway!^_^

It is funny for the first two episodes and still funny in the episodes 3 and 4.
Today is the episode 5 and 6 and I believe it will still be funny but I think it will slowly focus more to political and melo part later since the main male lead is a puppet king who try to reform and be a good ruler for his people.

This drama screenwriter is one of the screenwriter for drama "The Emperor: Owner of the Mask" ughh

I'm traumatized sorry so I won't watch this drama but I'm happy with that Kim Kyung Nam get the main role. Wish him the best!

So far, I like it so much. I watch many Korean dramas with psychological genre before this so this drama is relaxing with the good mix of political plot.

Like @Ockanna mentioned, if you like serious sageuk then this drama is not for you.

Maybe, but I'm worried about the king's brother, Prince Yeong Pyeong because in the relationship chart, his character has arrow to king's concubine with the word "affection". I think we will fully see that when the king falls for the queen later.

He might die in protecting Hwa Jin after watching how pitiful Hwa Jin scheming to get the king's affection back.

Other character that has potential for sad ending is Kim So Yong's cousin, Byung In. After hearing queen's confession that she want to commit suicide in next episode and know the person that want to kill the queen that night is the king, he will turn to dark side because he think the king didn't deserve the queen. His father also one of the king greatest enemy.

For his ending, he might sacrifices himself to protect the queen from his father's scheme after know that the queen also falls for the king.

So this drama might be like Crash Landing On You again with the potential of sad/tragic ending for the support casts. Just this time Kim Jung Hyun's character has big possibility for happy ending LOL

Royal families especially princes fighting each other in historical times is because of the throne/power. Sometimes even their father, the king himself encouraged that.

But based on the wikipedia, it seem both princes have good relationship with each other in the real history.

Jang Dong Yoon as Prince Chung Nyeong , later King Sejong The Great

His character is cool too:

But it seem the plot of this drama that mentioned by @Everly Joy below will make Park Sung Hoon character kinda evil T_T

Shin Hye Sun delivered great performance as the pitiful So Yong and brazen queen with male's soul so no wonder audience can easily sympathize and side with her characters. I also love the current queen and feel pity with So Yong.

I don't condone how the king treat So Yong but he didn't live easy life either:
1)He been exiled.
2)He been called back just to be the puppet king
3)He has to pretend he is just a dumb, horny and stupid king in front of the eunuch/servant/official by reading all those erotic book and just agree with whatever their decision on the court.
4)He has to marry one of their woman as his queen to strengthen their control towards him

And now they want to behead his concubine that also one of the small people that he trust. Even he is a king he is powerless until he had to kneel down and beg to them so he can protect Hwa Jin.

I think he treasure Hwa Jin because she is one of people that trust him like his brother and special director Hong while others just use him for their selfish gain.

I pity him just like I pity So Yong so I don't dislike him. They actually just the victim of the power-hungry people in the palace. I'm rooting for the king and the queen together. Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun chemistry have great chemistry together so I look forward for the royal couple cooperation later.

And I already annoyed with the usual love triangle in romance dramas and this drama has love square huh. I really hope they don't drag love square with the concubine and So Yong's cousin too much.

They will become more political later.

I read a comment mentioned that the Korean page of this drama or something like that has "melo" tag for this drama.

Yay, another person that watch The Romance Of Tiger And Rose!
It is a good time travel drama although it is a low budget drama!

The similarities:
1)Han Shuo also hate Qian Qian at the beginning and tried to kill her before he become head over heels with her ^_^
2)Both husbands in these dramas just get along with their wives silly antics LOOL
