For the theatre, whyyyyyy did they skip Matthew's team and Jay's team? I could understand Matthew's because he gets more screen time after, but Jay's? He is invisible in Over Me !!!!
For SWITCH, it was an okay bts. Not everybody was shown, but still, it was a little of everything and Hanbin deserves the screen time as he saved the team. I didn't really like how they kept showing JongWoo and Keita being salty over the fact they got chased off. When "Over Me" was winning the team points, they even show them saying that they prefer "Say My Name" winning if it's gonna be like this (that they don't especially like Say My Name, but they don't want Over Me to win). I understand that the boys are angry, and they don't like some teams. They don't need to be all close to each other, but WHY SHOW IT Mnet? You don't want Keita in the final team that bad?
For SAY MY NAME, we already wrote the script, we all knew it was gonna be like that. Matthew was gonna get all the screen time, he was gonna be amazing after being angry a little. We even see Jiwoong going to his room to APOLOGIZE for being HARSH on him. That was too much of them. Matthew was the poor sacrificial lamb for the team and he overcame it like the best amazing boy he is. Hanbin got all the hate. Whaaaaat a surpriiiiiiise.
OVER ME was a MESS. I mean, the bts. My pick is Zhang Hao, okay? He's my fav. BUT WTF WAS THAT? We got some Ricky being good, some Jeong Hyeon who was super cool too, almost no Jay, and only weird Kuan Jui. The reason for the mess was Hao's leadership not suited for the short time they had, they didn't need to show KJ in that light! I was a little weirded out at the boys bitching on Hao when they were the ones making a hundred suggestions XD Like... Guys, he's in the wrong for accepting everything you say, but YOU are the ones who are adding things everywhere XD
Anyway, it was super awkward that Hao got that much screen time, especially because we ALREADY got the "inexperienced leader" storyline in another episode with Matthew. And he got double the amount with the theatre bit because he did well with Hanbin.
He's also the one with the highest ranking on his team, so WHY? AND he's also the one who gets the crazy benefits, HE DOESN'T NEED MORE SCREENTIME! Why MNET?
So weird. And I didn't like that. I can't even imagine Jay's fan's feelings right now, what the fuck was that. So awkward.
For the results, I was super surprised. I expected "Say My Name" to win because they got all the most popular trainees. Over Me deserved it, tbh, they had the best song and best performance overall. I'm happy that Jeong Hyeon and Kuan Jui got those benefits, and I hope it will get Jay&Ricky in the top 9 in the next episode!
Spoiler-free ~~ It's my first time catching youtube LIVE, and the chat is pretty horrible. It's a little scary. It was full of random hate for Yujin, and a lot of hate for Hanbin/Jiwoong during the Say My Name part. :/ It wasn't really fun.
Anyway. The theatre thing was cute but, it was just to keep the suspense for the rest of the performances.
The switch performance was fun, and their outfits and the set were AMAZING. Visually, I think it was the best one. Say My Name was pretty much what I expected. It was cute and refreshing, and the boys were good! Over Me was my favorite performance, everybody was really good.
Mnet was still a mess for the editing. I didn't like what they did for Say My Name (no surprise). But the surprise was Over Me! What is this??? My pick was the one who got the most screen time but I'm not happy at all. Why can't they show everybody? Why do they need to focus on ONE person? Nobody wants that. They already did that with Matthew and know it only creates haters, why are they doing it again with someone else?
lmao yall believe everything u read. The account who posted that was created in the same day with 0 followers…
😂
I just said it's good if everything goes well. It's a good thing if you're right.
1 - I already know that the informations was done by Matthew's antis. Doesn't change the fact they didn't use false informations, and only facts that were open to the public. It came from a bad place, but it doesn't change that's it's not, at least in part, true.
There's already some post saying the allegations aren't true, but even those cannot say that everything is false.
I think you already know which points I am talking about so I won't detail here.
2 - About how Mnet works, everybody knows. You don't have to talk in such condescending way. Thank you.
We all know about eh manipulations, the screentime, the editing, etc ...
3 - The funny thing about the whole "evil editing" of Matthew, is that expect Matthew's fans, nobody care about it.
It's true that some people found it "childish" of him to react that way. But the attention was on something a lot bigger than the "drama".
All the talk of the episodes, were not on his reaction, but on the fact he was again the main story of his team. And he had again the most amount of screen time.
Of course, this editing is not a good thing for him, but it's not necessarily a bad thing either. It's getting him a huge amount of antis, but not reducing his amount of fans either. Because there was nothing "evil" in this.
Yes, he was shown as kind of "greedy" for not wanting to change his part even though his voice couldn't support it. But he was also given plenty of screentime where he says he understand his teammates pov, that he feels sorry and that it's an important part to him because it's for his mother. In another teaser, a teacher was shown praising him, that it's a good thing he changed part because it suits him. So we already know he'll accept.
We most likely will see him being open minded next episode, everybody hugging with a touching music, and the team winning.
Everybody knows that it will go well, people are not angry AT Matthew for his reaction but at Mnet for pushing him again in the spotlight when he's not even the center, the main vocal or the main dancer of his team.
The unfortunate thing is that it's Matthew getting the sharp end of the sword because of Mnet's favoritism. It's a shame because I think he's cute and charismatic enough to get a good place on his own, and the amount of attention that Mnet is constantly putting on him is getting him fast in a secure position but also creating a huge amount of antis.
3 - Sorry for not perfect English, not my first language.
Guys! I think we need to cut ourselves from the show, at least emotionally 😂
Because we're about to be VERY disappointed.
Not just because of screentime favoritism, or evil/not evil editing, but because this show may get the PRODUCE X treatment.
There's some solid rumors about the rigging of the votes of at least one contestant, and if it's proven true, everything will go down.
Maybe they'll finish the show, but the group may be cancelled after like X1.
EVEN IF ITS TRUE, DON'T FORGET THE TRAINEES ARE INNOCENT, EVEN THE RIGGED ONES. THERE'S HUGE CHANCES THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT.
If everything goes well, then everything is perfect. But I see that the comments sections is on fire since a few episodes and we're all very invested in it, and maybe getting a little too emotional (myself included). We need to turn it down a notch because we're about to be very disappointed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjWokV94928This is so sad it's actually tragically funny. I don't think we've…
Mnet is panicking because people are a lot more angry than they thought, on their favoritism of Matthew. :/
So they want to "prove" that he's not their favorite, but it's at his expense.
But people are not buying it, because of the amount of screentime he has (even though he's not one of the two centers, nor a main vocal, nor a main rapper, nor a main dancer... For a G trainee to have screentime you need at least a position like that), the fact that it's the same problem as this G-trainee but the G one got a lot more backlash and no seconds to explain his reaction, even though Matthew gets plenty of interviews to explain that "he wants to do it for his mom, but he understand the team pov", mnet's paid ad posting a comments about how Matthew is their favorite before the show began, and the fact he's in an agency who is linked to Mnet...
They're throwing the innocent trainee under the train, to do damage control.
Kim Gyu Vin has the charisma of a clamshell, I'm happy his ranking finally dropped. He isn't outstanding for his…
They showed his low rank so that fans will feel bad for him and vote like crazy. So it's most likely he'll come back strong next week and Ricky&Keita will fall down again
Genuinely happy for Ricky to be in top 9, really hope showing his rank wont affect the votes in next episode.
I think it does. Mnet doesn't want him & Keita in the final group, so they show they are in a good position, and the fans can concentrate on voting for their other favs. People will stop voting for them :/
And they show Gyuvin is in a bad position for his fans to wake up and begin voting for him like crazy.
They did the same in Produce 2. They wanted Min-hyun (a final member, in another group called Nu'est) in the last group so they showed him in a bad position for his fans to go voting like crazy, and focus on him thinking that Jonghyun (another Nu'est member who didn't make the final cut) was safe and in the top 9. Unfortunately, all the fans had the same thoughts and so Minhyun jumped the ranks like crazy, and Jonghyun dropped.
It's a different situation, but the same idea that people will stop voting for the high kids because they are safe, and Gyuvin fanbase will wake up and make him Top 9 again ^^
congratulations Mnet for evil editing THE Seok Matthew :) i mean i feel unbothered so, GO VOTE FOR SEOK MATTHEW
I'm not a fan nor a hater of Matthew, but it didn't feel like evil editing. Yes, it did feel like he's not mature, but they also showed everybody ganging up on him, how he's alone, how he's crying, how he's sad that everybody is against him but that he understands that they are not wrong... They also emotionally appeal about the reason why this part is important is that it's in English and he's thinking about his mother...
Sorry, but it didn't feel like evil editing to me. Especially because we'll surely have a very emotional resolution next episode and we already heard in a teaser a teacher saying his new part is amazing for him.
Nah, that's not evil editing. It's just bad editing. But it is a problem, and it is going against him, not because he's "bad" (he's not, and the editing shows he's not a bad guy), but because people are tired of the show consistently making him the main story of his team. I don't really remember, but I saw Koreans' comments saying that they're just tired of the show always pushing him in front more than this stupid storyline. Yes, he looks childish, but they don't seem to care all that much, and they're more annoyed that he's the main "again".
yujin, gyuvin and jiwoong have showed nothing special throughout the show but seeing them getting votes and being…
I see where you're coming from, and I do agree they're more talented, but I think the cases of Gyuvin/Yujin and Jiwoong are very different.
I feel like Gyuvin and Yujin would add a lot of popularity to the final group, especially Yujin. I do think that we only need one "popularity, very young and less skilled" character, and that is Yujin already. I don't really care about them, but those seem needed in all survival shows. Here, we have 2.
Jiwoong, though, is different. I feel his skills are solid, and he's especially important in the final boy group as it is a team work. In all the groups he appeared in, he felt like the foundation of the teams. Even in this last episode, he's the one who said the things that should have been said. I think he would be a good member of the final group for it to work well in the hectic promotion time. And when they need to work with older people. Hao is someone like that, but he is not perfect at Korean. Yujin is a good leader but he's still young. Keita is also good, but again he's a foreigner... I feel like he's needed.
But! To be sure of that, I'll need to see how he does in this performance. The guy only did sexy songs since the beginning, and versatility is crucial for an idol, so if he can't do it then I agree that he may not be a good fit for the final group.
Maybe I'm just too relaxed because I'm lucky my pick is in top 9, sorry T^T
They tried to, yes. The last episode is about events that happens in the 30th volume of the manga (the last one). But a lot of story have been cut, of course.
The first episode was kind of weird, but the rest was amazing !!!
The characters are just so endearing, and I loved all the relationships formed during this show. The lovers, the friends, or even the relationship between the main trio.
The thing that I loved the most is still the same as what I thought in the first episode: the way the writers handled Issei's handicap.
This drama is about a deaf and mute main character, but it doesn't revolve around it. It's not even one of the main points. You can see it a lot, of course, because everybody signs or write to him, but except for a few scenes where they talk about his "handicap" or when the heroine studies, it's not talked about a lot. They could have had almost the exact story with a hearing main lead, and the drama wouldn't have changed much. But they still chose to have a deaf and mute main lead. AND I LOVE IT.
I do love shows that talk about "handicaps" and how they can be a problem in a relationship because it is real and open discussion about handicaps (like Silent). But it's SO NICE to have a drama where the life of the character doesn't revolve around his handicap. Of course, Issei's life needs to revolve around it in a way, because he needs to adapt to everything all the time, but his personality, job, relationships, and his trials in life are not always linked to it.
He is so gentle and generous, but he is also egocentric, an idiot and doesn't know when to stop. And the main problems that come to him throughout the drama are created by his personality, and not by his handicap.
I don't why I love it so much, but that's the main reason.
(it's long but no spoiler) Amazing second season. I love to see such obvious character development from both of them. One of the problem I had with season one is that Hira didn't really had a development, Kiyoi did "all the work". (I know that Hira wasn't useless or anything, just that he didn't really change from high school to the beginning of their relationship). But I love that this season, the light is on Hira, because Kiyoi already did almost all his development in season 1. (though he had some work to do)
Something I always found a little negative about this drama are actually a lot (not all, of course) of the fellow viewers, always talk a lot about the "toxicity" of the relationship. And... I don't think I fully agree with this. Of course, if it was me, Kiyoi would be a very toxic person. I don't even think I would even be friend (his season 1 self) with him. Tbh, Hira would be the same, I don't think I could really interact with someone that does not treat me as a human being. But that's not about "me". It's about the both of them. I don't think it's a type of drama or book where you're supposed to identify with the protagonists. They're way too extreme for that.
They're BOTH super narcissist and egoist, but they found each other. Fell in love, and are happy dating. Yes, their relationship is weird, and it would not work healthily for anybody but them. But that's the whole point. It's THEIR story. Not the story of the viewers/readers, with one of the character.
I think it is a very good thing that the internet is teaching people to be careful of red flags, and to make people think about their own relationship. Is it toxic? Am I happy? Is he/she really good to me? Am I good really good to them? All those questions are really good. But there is one down side I get from this : the pressure to have a perfect clean couple.
Of course, that is not the point of the people trying to teach about toxicity, but at some point it became like a manual. Not about thinking about your couple and if we are happy, but about thinking if we check all of the green flag boxes.
But the thing is that every body has different green flag, and different red flag. Different relationship, and different partners. If it does not work for you, it may for others. Even if you do not understand it, and you find it very wrong. Putting your ideals as the template of a good relationship and forcing it on others is another form of violence.
(I am not talking about those dramas that put violent, derogatory and manipulative protagonist in front of their romantic interest, and make it up as a "romantic" situation)(here, it is said again and again that they are weird, creepy, egoist, and not a very good person, I don't think it is "romantized". As in, people are not gonna watch this drama and think that they want someone exactly as Kiyoi or Hira because they are the perfect boyfriend.. They are not.)
People who find it toxic can, of course, as it is only MY opinion ! :)
I could understand Matthew's because he gets more screen time after, but Jay's? He is invisible in Over Me !!!!
For SWITCH, it was an okay bts. Not everybody was shown, but still, it was a little of everything and Hanbin deserves the screen time as he saved the team.

It's my first time catching youtube LIVE, and the chat is pretty horrible. It's a little scary.

Mnet is too powerful to care. They are just way more careful about it.
Korea is a paradise of corruption.
But, again, if it's wrong then everything is good.
My main worry is that the group does not debut. Or get cancelled.
If my picks can debut, and be happy, I'm happy.
I just said it's good if everything goes well. It's a good thing if you're right.

It goes better after that because we explore the rest of the characters.
The story follows them through all of high school, so the beginning feels especially cheesy as they need to really show they matured in those 3 years.
A nice little show!
For the people interested: the show continues the story after the anime. The end of season 2 is episode 7 of the drama.
The characters are just so endearing, and I loved all the relationships formed during this show. The lovers, the friends, or even the relationship between the main trio.

There's a manga though.
