She released 2 movies this year and both got into top 10 Netflix worldwide. Call is more special because it's a female centric, no big name actor and korean zoobie hype to back it up. It has not promotion and also have to compete with holidays movies with bigger name actors. But the movie is still staying top 10 even after 10 days. It's because the words of mouth about the script and acting .
PSH is an actress that master at tears when she was teenager, then become a romcom queen, and how showing the world she can also killing action, thriller genre. She is amazing and versatile
It took her a long while for her to get out of her shell but I'm glad she finally did. Too bad Covid kind ruin her movies for theater shoot. But at least they got amazing response from Netflix international viewers. After this year many Netflix fans would know who PSH is.

It's not her problem that you don't watch her amazing works and blaming one not-very-good-written character. Even in the Heirs her acting is great.

Tbh crying doesn't make her characters weak. Did you watch Pinocchio, Doctors, Alive, and her newest The call? Let me tell you this it's not that PSH doesn't want to play badass role but writer love her crying skill so much so they want to showcase it. But regardless of what haters say, PSH is still at the top of her career with praise and successful every time she releases an project. LOL

Korea think other wise. Imagine LSK has no YG backing her up and give her all the good project and resources. Meanwhile PSH got here by herself as she stay w a small agency for almost 20 years w no help in resource and media play. She doesn't overeact like LSK at times and is one versatile actress who can do comedy, melo, action, thriller, etc....

TMOPB got lower rating because of it's plagiarism issue. Its initial rating was as low as 3. because of it and the bad impression of lead's visual especially Mark. But it went up because the drama is really good and people fall in love with the acting and story. If it weren't for plagiarism issue, it'd probably get high 7 or even 8. Because its popularity >>>>> the rest of the other dramas.

While I enjoy the drama, acting, chemistry, the repeated suffering and pushing-the-male-lead-to-a- perfect-saint writing is tiring, they even-made XJ and her family more stupid to cause all the misunderstandings do SF stand out more than he already is.

Regard what you think of the dramas, this drama can't touch their hype and status. Not talk about other dramas, but TMOPB remains the most watched drama in China and their hype and how people was emotionally involved was way higher. I'll give you a comparison. Their views were about 25 billion views when the drama ended when I don't think L&R has passed 1 Billions at this point. And the drama wasn't only pushing the actors but actresses. So it's really depends how you define a better drama.

I think this drama strongest point the CGI and chemistry. Acting- CY is carrying the drama and overall is good. YBY is fine in naive and cute but ok-ish in emotional or her GoW parts, No other actress really stand out buy they fit their roles. For me overall Visual, script are good but still missing here and there, for example YBY's visual when you compare to other xianxia dramas and how the story pushing the male lead over the top when the novel is more of female lead story... Maybe it's too early to say but as right now, the story isn't well balance as it's mostly focusing on the male leads and their handsome actors than its actresses.

All in all, each drama has their strengths and weaknesses. No need to put down others to feel good about your own. As much as I love tmopb I still can nitpick about the drama but compare to the novel and other dramas it has set a high standard overall for new xianxia drama aside from its CGI. You can say this and that better but until now, no drama has surpassed its achievements or get people to feel the way it has yet. It's also a youku drama if I remember correctly.

I don't disagree with you but it's not rare when they turned male lead in better light in dramas- because they need viewers to love them. But here she is a bit over-doing it, like making everyone stupid including XJ and her family just to make SF character shine. And it's repeated too.

I enjoy the drama and think it's a good production but I'm getting tired of seeing him suffered and viewers crying for him while cursing on the poor XJ LOL. I mean they even counted how many times he coughing blood and cried for her... LOL . Sometimes they should know where to stop when they are pushing a character. Plus I like flawed characters more. SF seems to be too perfect, which is quite unreal. Probably why people love him but I prefer a flawed character than I could relate.

Oh I know. But people here who mostly don't know the novel not aware how the writer is leaning toward SF and making everyone look stupider than the novel's .

And yes, I had the same issue when watching Fuyao. The story was supposed to be about hers and her journey but they turned the drama to to legend of Wuji by basically giving him all her achievements. So you see why I can't help when this happens. And why I said it happens too often.

I'm not even YBY's fan but the story should be her journey of growth and finding about the truth and herself. But sadly, it's mostly been about how smart SF is, how much SF love XJ and how far would he go for his love.... I think it got a bit over-killed with SF hurting and suffering almost every ep... At least other dramas like tmopb or aol, the leads taking turn to suffer LOL
