Hmmm I think you don't understand her character at all. She is one strong independent. rational and open-minded and successful woman. However she is inexperienced and naive in love because she never in love before.. And it's only natural that she is insecure and clueless especially how people look down on age gap relationship and women her age. Don't you watch the part they gave out the sample of the older woman and younger man in the drama? She wouldn't want it happen to her or her family. And as an older woman she has a lot of thing to loose vs a younger man like YS- from how people look at her, her work reputation can be affected too, and even her parents.

Original title of the drama is Senior girl's 1st love. And you can just tell how naive and clueless she is emotionally. And there is nothing wrong with that. She is loved and so-well protected by her family.

And you are wrong about YS isn't playing game. I mean cfans call both male leads foxes and female lead are naive white rabbit. If fact, YS is a black-belly young fox. He might be 22 but boy has way more love experiences than her. He only didn't date for a year based on what his friend said . I mean dude got her sleep with him after then 2nd kiss before she agreed to date him and you said it's not game? Not only he lied that she kissed him when she drunk but also blacked mailed her to agree to date him. But Just like in the drama, women got criticized for thing that they shouldn't have. Just because she is clueless and naive in love doesn't mean she isn't strong . Have you seen how she deal with people at work or her friends or her family? The fact she insist to date purely and have no marriage purpose like most people her age would do show that she is strong enough to not follow the crowd and just do what she wants.

I can't stretch how much I love this drama so far. Not only it provide so much sweetness, laugh, eye candies but it didn't shy away from serious real issues women in their 30's facing in real life.
I also love FX's loving and suportive family, how she deal with her work and friend. And there is no evil /hateful character in this drama like most c-drama. Yes you might find them annoying but they are at least fun, interesting and doesn't step TOO low, for now.
The chemistry is impressive for their age gap and honestly they don't even look that far apart, maybe a few years difference with them dressing their age and Victoria wearing more makeup. But they look even better in real life when they had the poster shooting and filming HC recently. Too bad it won't broadcast due to the outbreak

But I didn't like the look/custom for DoE but you and many AMA fans will get GZY and QMT romance. LYT has been in many recent dramas and the Ode to Daughter of Great Tang should come from Yanxi palace production team I definitely look forward for it more...

Lmao you take the characters too seriously. AMA focus on the love for the country than romance or family love. The drama is to celebrate China party 70th anniversary, which is the main reason why all the romance got cut off. But I guess you didn't get the message. XX said she has to do something in her brother's place: is to protect the country. It's not as simply as going to school and risk her life for nothing while leaving her parents.
And because many scene got cut off something might not make sense if you pay too much attention to details.

And each dramas and characters should be different. You can't expect them to be the same or great in some expect. What I love about XK and BL in the dramas they acted together were they both played completely different characters and pulled it off.
I also agree as long as the character, story, acting and chemistry are good, I don't mind who being with who. I never insist certain actors should act with certain actors. Then there is no room for them to grow.
However, it's an open secret that BL and XK are dating and filming together is an excuse for them to be together because they are often apart filming different dramas. Both are good actors and have amazing with each other but Unfortunately both of their drama have issue with productions/ editing ( rather than their acting and chemistry) . AMA is due to restrictions a lot of their scenes got cut. Same with the legends they messes up with the script and the editing team made it worse... But both were amazing with their roles and had wonderful chemistry so I don't mind them having more dramas together. Just hope Yu Zheng won't ruin it and use it to push his new people and gave the leads 5 mins of screen time again. He does it all the time, which is the only reason I don't want them to act in his drama production... but from outside production.
Both BL and XK's last dramas were from outside productions and they had no problem with script or editing... But I guess we can't have everything...

What made the male lead character so great anyway? He is immature, childish, flashy, show off. The only thing is that he loves her to moon and back and put her life above his. That's why I think it's ok for her to choose him at the end

XK character really didn't care about anything, including his family, until he met XX though. Thank to her he started to cares more... QMT is the girl version of him, that's why they can't be together. Or it would be a hot mess.

And this drama isn't supposed to be romance focused. Not to mention 90 minutes of the lead romance got cut out so they spend more time with 2nd leads than each other... XX is much calmer and mature than both XX and QMT, but her character doesn't get as much love she deserves because she doesn't do cool or funny stuffs line them... But she is cooler and more badass than the males in the drama.

Oh wait, don't worry! Yu Zheng pushed QMT character so hard and give her a lot of screentime with XK hard in AMA to prepare for their up coming drama. I mean as 2nd lead, but QMT has much more things going on and personality than female lead. But that's how YZ is and how he pushes his newbies. You will have that love line soon just as he planned. They finished filming it not too long ago. No worry.
If it weren't BL and XK's chemistry I wouldn't able to ship their characters in the drama either since there is so little romance there. All was made to laugh.
But let's let not about who deserves who! Since what's your type might not be others. The drama wasn't even completed due to all the restrictions since most of their romance cut cut out. It's unfair to even judge.
