So far, this is the best historical I've seen from a lifetime of sageuk watching. This king is a terror fr. What else is he capable of doing next? π
Wait, for real? Lol Big fan of Double here but Whatwith this being a Tang Dynasty setting, it never crossed my mind, but now that you've said it, I kinda see similarities between the FLs but compared to Jianing, Mudan is having it tougher.... I think π€
Some people seem to really hate this drama for no reason whatsoever. Why else would they badly rate episodes that…
Reviews should be fixed too, a whole review after 1 episode airing is sus, after 8 episodes sounds better for a 40/40 and 4 for a 12/16/20 episodes drama
At this point, even a vase of her peonies is more useful than this poor gals husband, because what in the name of unrebelled oppression is even going on with him? I can't even decide who needs more pity between the two of them, phew! This drama is going to be a long one π§
If she were royalty or from a high ranking official family, she would have been married off to the benefits of the royal family and sometimes this includes being married out the kingdom as basically a hostage and she can't refuse because of piety, although wherever she's married off to can't directing mistreat her (royal family angle) they would have their ways of making her miserable especially if she's not a legitimate daughter. If she were the daughter of an official, she'd marry another official and spend the rest of her life going to one event after the other flattering people and 'teaching her children' and trying her best to make her husband's family look good (if God forbid she doesn't give birth, she'd have to raise children by a concubine while hearing her in-laws lamenting her lack of offspring and if no hope can be found on the horizon, be forced to adopt them all). For a character like Mudan, it's the same prison, with different bars gilding them in. For the olden days women, there was rarely a win, there was just swallowing it and probably a lot of wet pillows at night. The very few who dared to rebel (and succeeded until the very end) are so few in numbers, and they were almost all of them coincidentally dowager empresses and the singular one who dubbed herself 'emperor'. And now I'm sad after writing this whole epistle πΆπΆπΆπΆ

That's it, I give up! π
