I rated Dae Mul?!Ah that was a mistake I think.I don?t have right to rate it as I watched only 3 or 4 episodes. But I can tell you the reason why I dropped it.I picked it up at the wrong time.I found the synopsis vastly interested and that?s why I chose it but a couple of things went wrong for me.I have a bad tendency of checking out the last episodes for dramas which make me think that there is a possibility of dubious endings.I found out that the drama ended right after she became President and it discouraged me.Why? Because I had just finished ?Change? of Kimura Takuya which focused mainly on obstacles he had to face After he became the President.

I?ve got to disagree with you about one thing though.A Tree with Deep Roots isn?t a drama about dying for a King at all.It depicts the historical moment of the creation of Hangul and portrays the rigors and endeavors behind the birth of an alphabet. It emphasizes on the responsibility, vulnerability and loneliness of Great Sejong as a human and not as a King. The ending was rushed and some perfectly evitable tragedies were introduced but the story was never about blind loyalty to the God-like-King or about unconditional sacrifice for his sake.

I LOVE stories with my mysterious elements. And reading form the paintings-that sounds so interesting!Actually I?ve had my eyes on this dram from a long time but then somehow I came to know that the ending isn?t a happy one(To tell you the truth,I?m sucker for happy endings!Only in exceptional cases I can accept the alternative ).I assumed the death of one of the main characters. But now that it doesn?t seem to be the case,I?ll happily give this drama a try cuz as long as they are alive,I can cling on to the hope that someday they will meet again ;-)
It?s ok if it?s a bit slow as long as the story is good. About being draggy,I can just first forward the boring parts. It?s been while since I watched a K-drama without first forwarding at all anyway :P

My friend who recommend this drama also warned me about it's some objectionable elements.I'll give you an honest feedback after I've finished it :)
I wanted know you opinion about the drama Painter of the Wind.I was pretty sick of 'cross-dressing' themes in Kdramas. That's why I didn't try this drama yet.But then I came to see your review and learned that you think very highly of this one. This is another drama which I've seen to receive quite confusing opinions from different viewers. Can you give me an clear idea as to the story and ending(including spoiler)in a few words? {:-)
I love this drama.Although this kinda 'relation-complication' theme is not my type,I enjoyed this particular story…
Thus it all comes down to what you wanted when you started it.If you?re in the mood of watching a sweet rom-com or a melodramatic sharp love-triangle,then this drama?s not for u.But if you?re in the mood of trying something distinct-a story which is thought-provoking and capable of various interpretation from different angles, then this is drama you?ll surely love.
And I forgot to mention before,Thank YOU for assuring me that this drama deserved all the credits that I gave it :)
I love this drama.Although this kinda 'relation-complication' theme is not my type,I enjoyed this particular story…
The reason this drama is underrated is because it offers the viewer two watching approach. In the first approach, you take things literally-get frustrated over the incidents, define the characters strictly-she is a pathetic girl,he?s a confused guy,and she?s a stupid woman, conclude simply-the story?s messed up,the drama?s boring and rate accordingly.
In the second approach, you watch carefully-consider the predicament, age, position, past, aspects and maturity of the characters, examine attentively-analyze the dialogues as they help us a great deal in figuring out each of the characters both from their own and other?s perspectives, think hypothetically-what would you do if you were in their shoes and conclude generously-what an entertaining story about learning from mistakes, growing up,moving on and starting a new phase of life?..and rate accordingly.

Nah,I haven't finished Maou yet.Been busy for the last few days. Moreover,I made the mistake of staring A Gentleman's Dignity and now it is pulling me in like a magnet. How hilarious this drama is!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this drama.Although this kinda 'relation-complication' theme is not my type,I enjoyed this particular story…
Couldn't agree more.I loved the story because I was able to relate to the characters.Yes they made quite a few mistakes, took some wrong decisions and caused pain to others. But when I analyze their ideals, background, position and perspective,I can understand why they did what they did.Shuji was an honest and simple person by nature who was always taught not to cause any trouble. In the end his endeavor 'to do the right thing' brought him most pain.
Natsumi was used to being regarded an ideal teacher & woman. Thus when she found herself in a situation which can make her look pitiful in the eyes of the other, she broke down.Saeki was in an unfortunate situation. However, the extremity of her action was mainly caused by her immaturity, loneliness and sense of inferiority. All three of them helped, taught and learned form each other. That's why this story is so special.
Glad u liked it d(^_^)b

However,in case of Maou I can firmly say that I was not biased by the preconceived images of UTW-JJH as I prepared myself :)

I discovered the "first version first favorite rule"(nice term btw :P)when I watched Death Note live action.I loved the unique story and eccentric characters played by the cast.Later on I tried the anime. It was more detailed than the live-action but I felt that the anime becomes a bit messy towards the end and based on ending alone,I preferred the live-action.On the other hand, those who watched the anime first, absolutely hated the live-action..specially the cast. They couldn't accept the disparity of anime characters and real actors as easily as I could.Similar incidents happened many times later on and I gradually I came to believe in this unintentional favoritism of human mind.It doesn't necessarily happen all the time or to every person but it does happen a lot.

But how do you avoid comparing the level of performances?!!If Gumiho was all about Shin Min Ah then Devil was all about UTM and JJH.As I said before,if I had to choose my favorite dramas based on acting alone then The Devil would definitely be on the top five. The unbelievable performance by those two amazing actors made the characters as real as they could be.They made me actually feel and experience each of those emotions they exhibited.I couldn't but marvel at their ability each time I watched the drama.I'll try my best to finish Maou to give it a fair rating but I'm not sure if I can.

I'm pretty convinced that I'll find it tiring only after few episodes.I even got bored at the recaps and stopped reading them.So I decided to skip this one.
Wow! What a coincidence! I also started watching Maou today!I watched the 1st episode only but I can already foresee how this drama is going to end up in my drama list.
We tend to give some granted advantage to the first version we watch...naturally.Therefore, I promised myself to judge this drama from absolute objective point of view before starting it.The pacing of the story was expected as it has fewer episodes than the original version. It was like reading a famous series like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings and then starting the movie version and wonder at it's conciseness. But as I was mentally prepared this time,it was easier to accept the difference for me.

"there is en emotional recognition,it appeals to our sense of experience of the world perhaps, to our values, our feelings"-perfect words Bladey!! Many of us may not able to admit it but I firmly believe that one's personal values, ideals and perspectives have a huge influence in defining one's taste..dramas are no exception either. That's why sometimes it happens that we come to like or dislike a drama without taking recourse to logic :)
I read the recaps on the first few episodes of Bridal Mask.I don't think I'll be watching it.The story is good and I think it'll be interesting to see the psychological turmoil of a rising hero, but I know that there is also going to too many complications, emotional confusions, predictable misunderstands, overused coincidences and certain familiar formulas which are to be expected in a story like this.

I've watched it three times and each time I enjoyed the drama and became convinced about the story and the characters even more.I started to believe that-yes, guy like him can exits, girls like her can be found, situations like these are probable, decisions like these are understandable and perfect endings like this is also possible. It also makes me wonder may be other people didn't consider it from this viewpoint and I feel the urge to discuss it with someone at length :)
Give it a try if u can as I know there can be no one so perfect as you with whom I can discuss my logical heart with it's full content ;-)

I can perfectly understand the points made the people who didn't' like the drama. They had excellent logic. Therefore, I tried even harder to find the reasons why I love this drama. But the problem is when I tried to do so I found that I loved it for those very reasons for which other people didn't!I can't say I loved it because the lead actors looked great and I loved to see them together..as I loved the moments even when they weren't together!I loved it not only then were happy but also enjoyed when they were going through critical times! I not only rooted for my fav couple but also for the happiness of the antagonist! Many people hated certain characters, the decisions they made and the way they behaved.I myself was in doubts while I was watching it but once it was finished, somehow everything made perfect sense to me.

Other times I just proudly exclaim my blind love for a drama based on one aspect of the story alone without caring for much logic.Like it happened in case of My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. It had a few loopholes in the story but the simple adorableness of the tale and the chemistry of the lead two actors made me accept everything else about it.
However, there are also ones which put me in a difficult position as I find myself unable to answer using either of the above two methods. The drama which instigated me to ask such question is Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta. It's one of my favorites and see!I've even memorized such a long name! The people who loved this drama are probably fewer than the ones who didn't.This is new for me as I usually find myself in the group who didn't enjoy a supposedly perfect drama(Although there too I'm in the minority! :P).
