damn i am waiting so hard for the next ep...these 4 days has been painful ....i cant wait to see isoo save her…
Have you considered waiting for dramas to finish airing before starting? I never watch a drama while it's airing. The wait between episodes is worse than the wait for the drama to finish airing. And I'm always watching something else in the meantime.
This looks good with the action, mystery, comedy, and romance. Plus, i like how we have the rich ML and detective FL. Is there a lot of romance? Slow burn? Any love triangles?
Nah, i dropped it on episode 4. Well, kind of. I just skipped huge parts to check on their relationship and the ending. There's just no way I'm spending time on a drama where, for most of the time, she's trying to kill him. Way too much angst, they have no chemistry, and he didn't even know her name until the last episode😂 I can't say much about the politics and power struggle because i skipped most of it, but I'm guessing it made up the majority of the show. I usually don't mind it, but it seemed boring. I should stop having high expectations for certain dramas, especially when they have high ratings on MDL. But i really thought the story and romance would be great, especially with these actors. I need an epic romance drama now, just to get rid of this bad taste in my mouth.
I just finished episode 4. I'm guessing she's going to try to get revenge or kill him? It started well, but i didn't think it would head in this direction. I don't know if i want to watch it if this drags on with lots of angst. Does it get better?
I'm actually here for the romance. I've just finished episode 4 and it seems there will be lots of angst. Will there interactions get better? Does she try to kill him for most of the drama?
There are already a ton of dramas where the ML has an inappropriate relationship with the FL, and viewers swooned…
A 20 year old married a 6 year old girl😂 stop lying, that never happened.
What's the use of talking about the past? Then, you can also talk about slavery, wars, or anything that happened in dramas throughout history. There's no use in talking about what happened in past dramas. What's relevant is now.
Yes, they still shipped the FL with the abusive ML because you all love that bad boy character, no matter if it's the ML or SML. That's all on you because you love ditching the nice guy to be treated poorly by the misogynistic bad guy.
You still haven't answered why SFL's are mostly portrayed as evil, malicious, conniving bitches, while SML's are the complete opposite. I'll tell you why, because you can't handle a SFL worthy to be with the ML. But you're just fine with a FL ending up with the SML.
So you named a few shows where the ML is cruel. Big deal i can name heaps of dramas where the FL is cruel while the ML is suffering from jealousy because the FL continues to throw herself at the SML while telling the ML "we're just friends."😂 You say misogyny, i can also say misandry. Yes that word exists, look it up. Nevertheless, it's clear double standards are scattered all over dramaland, and FL's are heavily favoured.
"In real life, many cultures are still deeply misogynistic, and women themselves struggle with internalized misogyny because of how they were raised." Firstly, I'm talking about dramas, not what happens in reality. That's completely different. Secondly, who are you to judge a country and their culture? In fact, it's Western countries that have got it all wrong. All these modern toxic feminists are ruining our culture. Just look at the divorce rate and infidelity in Westeren countries. Asian, Middle Eastern, and some European countries have got it right and functioning quite well, just like they have been for thousands of years.
You and most women use the word misogyny so freely these days but conveniently ignore what men have done for society and the world. Men built this world. A world where women can freely become feminists and complain about everything. Unequal pay that doesn't exist, and this illusion they don't have equality. They want equality but only for office jobs and when it benefits them. If you want equality, then it's gotta be across the board. Where are all the women bricklayers, oil riggers, concreters, builders, sewerage workers, dangerous electrical workers, miners. What's funny is that these feminist are bashing men on social media and devices that men built and supported so it continues running without breaking down. Where are all the women dying in wars fighting for their country? Just recently, in the war between Ukraine and Russia, all women and children were allowed to leave the country, but the men had to stay behind and fight. Men have higher rates of suicide, are more likely to be victims of crime, more women attend universities than men do. So where's this so called oppression on women? I think women have it much easier than men.
There’s no denying that there are MANY human rights issues that disproportionately or uniquely affect men.
Female privilege checklist:
1- I will receive on average lighter sentences for the same crimes.
2- I am not expected to go to war or even get drafted bc of lame excuses that only expose my privileges more, yet my male counterparts who are supposedly equal to me are expected to die in war.
3- I have special protection from almost all violence related crimes. There are over 2000 domestic violence shelters for women in the United States, but only 1 for men, yet multiple reputable studies from Ivy League universities show that men are just as likely to be abused.
4- I can look at children for more than 3 seconds without being labelled a pedo.
5- If i get a divorce, i will invariably get child custody, something that feminists will never shed light on even tho it’s something that is obviously a result of patriarchy only because it serves women’s interests.
6- More money & attention is being spent on breast cancer even tho 1 out of 8 men will be diagnosed with this disease, a figure that is similar to that of women suffering from breast cancer.
7- genital mutilation is only illegal for my gender.
8- I have longer life expectancy.
9- I am almost 61% less likely to commit suicide from depression.
10- I am less likely to die in work on a case to case basis & on an overall scale.
11- Retirement age for me is lower than my male counterparts.
12- The majority of the population of people living in the west are the same gender as mine, which clearly breaks the liberal notion that a majority can’t be oppressed.
13- I can freely fight for the rights of my gender and for issues that affect me without being labelled a sexist or accused of hate crimes.
14- I can get free entrance to bars and clubs.
15- A male is expected to pay for me.
16- Maternity leave is much more leaner and longer for me than fraternity leave.
17- I can very easily express my emotions and feelings without being accused of anything.
18- I am much more likely to be successful in school and university.
19- I am represented fairly in the court system, yet my male counterparts are not.
20- Men’s role in a family is deemed to be less important than a females.
& many more human rights issues.
Now feminists will argue that this is a result of patriarchy. Even if that’s true, then we need to reassess whether women are the only victims of the so-called patriarchy. Most feminists will fail to understand men’s issues and will have no compassion for male victims and will go the end of the world only to silence their voices as well as accuse them of being sexist only because their trying to solve their issues as well. These issues clearly affect men who supposedly and in ideal situation should receive as much attention and effort to their problems because we are supposedly all equals.
Anyway, this isn't what i wanted to talk about, but you brought up this whole conversation on how men are misogynists and women are oppressed. That's just not true. Society clearly shows women have it far better than men do.
There are already a ton of dramas where the ML has an inappropriate relationship with the FL, and viewers swooned…
I said there are mixed opinions, i never said everyone is ok with it. So a dude in his twenties treated a literal 6 year old girl like his sister, but married her when she grew up. Ok, so what? Are they blood related? If not, then there's nothing wrong with it. What's your point? There are double standards favouring female characters in dramaland, and you can't deny it.
Just look at the expectations between ML's, FL's, SML's, and SFL's. SML's are mostly kind while SFL's are usually mean, it's because majority of viewers are female. They want to see the handsome SML with the kind and caring traits protecting and pursuing the FL. They don't want to see the SFL with these kind and caring traits because then the SFL would become worthy of the ML, and that is unacceptable. Female viewers do not want a SFL to end up with the ML. They don't even want her hanging around him. You may have noticed the phrase "second lead syndrome" used often on MDL. That phrase doesn't apply to the SFL. It's only reserved for the SML. Viewers will even take it a step further and ship their FL with the handsome SML even if that SML is an evil person. The ML may not have done anything wrong. It's just that the SML was more handsome or more interesting than the ML.
We can even look at the expectations of the main leads. ML's are expected to be nice, caring, protecting, courageous, and will immediately fall in love with the FL from the beginning without a second thought or hesitation. He will also need to sacrifice his life for her and be persistent in pursuing her, even if she rejects him multiple times. Apparently, the FL is allowed to reject and ponder her decisions of the ML, while the ML can not. The ML will also be prohibited from having any female characters around him except the FL. If he does, he's suddenly "toxic" and a "red flag." Meanwhile, the FL can enjoy multiple male characters surrounding her, and that is considered normal, infact it's encouraged. ML with SFL, "toxic." FL with SML, "you go girl."
You probs understand so much about Korean culture, Goryeo Dynasty and all sort of aspects, a real-life director…
No, you didn't surprise me at all with that ignorant response. "Arrogant pretension," "professional qualifications," "audacity." 😂 You don't need professional qualifications to understand what is low quality or not in dramas. Even someone else noticed this and confirmed it, so stop talking nonsense. Just because you loved this drama doesn't mean everyone else has to like it. It also doesn't mean no one can have negative opinions about it. I even said i liked it, i just noticed it's lower in quality compared to others I've watched in this setting and genre. You got triggered by that and felt the need to respond in a smart-ass attitude. Grow up, not everyone likes what you like. You're going to see comments critiquing your favourite dramas. Just accept it and move on.
I see some mixed opinions about the teacher student relationship. Now, just imagine if the roles were reversed and the ML is the teacher. I guarantee 100% of viewers would be outraged. It would be unacceptable. Words describing the ML would be used such as toxic, red flag, paedophile, jerk, creep, disgusting, and anything else to criticise him.
In regards to the drama, i have no issue with it, and i don't understand all the crying in the comments. It's a drama, not reality. Everyone is ok watching crime, horror, and thrillers where there's plenty of immoral human behaviours, especially murder. So it's ok watching those horrific genres, but when we see a teacher student relationship, many are crying over it😒
