Does this get more interesting? I'm struggling through Ep 2 - if it's all like this I'm giving up. It doen't feel…
I agree that the first part of the first episode works too hard to get us through the exposition. All that voiceover narration made me wary, and I was grateful that once the story got underway it was used sparingly and to better effect. The tone of the series also changed. If it hadn't I would have been disappointed.
The lack of emotion and stiffness are, I think, in character for Si Won, especially after he first meets Da Un. Up until that moment he's been able to maintain a semblance of cheerful friendliness, a carefully constructed facade, but upon meeting Si Won the game is up: he shuts down almost instantly, confused and frightened to see that there could be a boy in his class who's not only just as handsome, but who is much more comfortable in his own skin. When Da Un confirms how calm and cool he is while he and Si Won review the registration materials, Si Won goes into even deeper crisis mode. For him Da Un is everything he wants to be, and what's worse is he achieves it naturally.
I think the acting through this sequence is really good! Kang Eun Bin has very little dialog through these scenes yet he still manages to tell us what is going on inside of Si Won. He's both attracted to Da Un and repelled by him, and he hates the fact that it matters to him at all. I think this is conveyed beautifully.
This scene when they first meet assured me that this was going to be an exceptional series.
Then later on Si Won's insecurities all come spilling out in the drunken scene, which as you say is realistic and funny. Kang Eun Bin does a great job here as well.
Whether you find the actor attractive is up to you entirely, of course, and nobody can criticize you for it. But this is one of the rare times that you and I disagree on how cute an actor is. We usually agree so much that I can safely say you're someone I'd trust to set me up on a blind date. You'd be able to pick the perfect someone. :)
The series does get better as it goes along. There's a dream sequence in one of the later episodes that I don't think is rendered very well. It confused me enough that I got taken out of the story. Rewatching most of the series this afternoon helped a lot because I knew what that part was all about and I didn't get sidetracked.
Other than that, though, I think the series is fantastic. I hope you'll continue watching.
This is more intimate than "To My Star" since it really is just about the two main characters, without a love triangle or the drama of the "incident" that drove the story in TMS.
This isn't necessarily to say that this outclasses TMS. It's a great companion piece in my opinion. I wouldn't want to be without either of them.
As I watched I imagined how agonizing it would have been to wait one week between episodes. What a thrill to get this unexpected gift!
There are so many moments that I love, like when Si Won grabs Da Un's hand and tells him to keep comforting him ... and when Da Un reaches over to hold Si Won's hand while they sit together in the classroom and their classmates gossip behind them.
The way Si Won gradually warms up to Da Un is perfectly depicted. After so much seriousness and self-consciousness from him, when we finally see a smile on his face it's like the sun coming out from behind the clouds.
Kang Eun Bin is a real discovery. Both leads do a fantastic job, but the role of Si Won seems more like a main character to me and demanded more of the actor who took the part. The series is essentially the story of Si Won's transformation into a confident person who deserves to be loved, and Kang Eun Bin delivers on every level.
Let me get this straight. Death needs to sleep and eat, other people can see him. So I guess he's human sometimes…
I don't think he's meant to be the personification of Death. He's a soul reaper, apparently one of many. So he is employed by Death but he's just another worker bee in Death Incorporated's org structure.
I've held off watching this until it ended and I could find out a critical plot point.
At the end, are the two guys in love as two guys, or are the m/f bodies still swapped so that what looks like a m/m happy ending is just a m/f ending with some added male accessories.
Please reply with the necessary spoilers. Thank you!
I'm seriously loving this show. It's just cute and fun. A really easy watch 😊But does anyone who the random…
The cast credit on this page says he's LukChup's friend but I immediately assumed that he will be Sam's rival for LukChup. Not that Phai isn't already filling that role quite capably lol.
What I like about The Miracle of Teddy Bear is the quality of the production, the story, the acting and the soundtrack…
You picked up on a lot more than I did! I knew that Tofu was actually P'Neung but for some reason I thought the soul transfer happened due to the comet. So ... it happened when P'Neung died, and it was the transformation into a human that was due to the comet.
I have a bad feeling about Nut's mother -- I think she has a touch of demensia and will probably die by the end of the series. It might come to light that Nut still lives at home in his late 20's due to his mother's situation.
also gotta find out more about the guy playing syn cause 1) he's CUTE cute 2) he's got some solid acting potential…
He is the ONLY reason to watch.
Based on the poster he's going to end up with Nuea as a third couple, and I'm betting that Nuea is flirting with Kuea only to make Syn jealous. It will turn out he's been after Syn all along.
I will never understand the nearly-universal appeal of DomeVee. They're worthy enough characters, but to be the favorite couple out of the three? To me they are the least interesting, and it's not their fault -- in the series there was no attempt to open up their back stories and define them as individuals beyond that mutual obsession. Why should we care about them finally being together? I wish we'd been shown something.
Still, it's good that they are reconciled at the end because otherwise it would have been a cheap tease by the writers. Among other things Vee smiled for what was probably the first time in months. Yeah, I would have liked a little more drama around their reunion but on the other hand I think the way it was depicted was more realistic. After months of fear and estrangement you don't suddenly start making out on the stairs at graduation.
In the finale I think the only thing that didn't ring true was Thorn being recruited for Fah's team -- especially since the guy on the phone said was because of the game where Thorn behaved like a complete a&&hole. Oh well.
I loved the series, though. I hope we'll see more from this production company and these actors.

Pang grated on me at first but her character has mellowed out a bit so I like her more now.
