I was puzzled about numbering ; I had it as S9 Ep9 from Weibo, but corrected because of MDL listing the episodes as #17-18 (I assume the official number is indeed Ep9 but MDL renumbered them because they are split in two days so it would be Ep.9-1 on April10 and Ep.9-2 on April11.) The MDL renumbering was a bit confusing!

that was so sweet from aoao ! yes, it's a different culture from some (mostly northern) Western countries, where parents routinely change locks and throw their kids on the street, cutting ties with them if they can't "contribute" and need parents for anything, as soon as they are legally adults and sometimes before! I am thankful not to have experienced that, but I have witnessed it on my travels: some people get over it, but others become ingrained selfish and uncaring, and have only harsh words for the older generation, and anyone in need (injury, catastrophe, crippling diseases). Not to say selfishness is unknown in China where the government felt a need to write in the law some years back, that children must help their old parents and at least visit them once a year, if they live alone, far away, like in villages.

I have submitted to add cast for Chen Zheyuan and Angel Wang (Wang Ou) who are playing with He Jiong, Zhang Ruoyun , Wowkie Zhang (Da Zhangwei), Vision Wei (Wei Chen) and Pu Yixing . And to add the episodes in cast list for the latter.

10 years is not long enough to have forgotten all about his original culture (except if he left as a teenager), and anyway, in that line of business (management, but also diplomacy, anything), you get briefings before getting abroad about local culture norms, what missteps to avoid, use of money and tax reporting... Even if it's not always included in the training of foreign companies or public bodies, it is a personal responsibility to do so. A manager can't be so careless as to neglect this, or neglect getting familiar with employees files instead of taking rash decisions. There are plenty of information and videos on how things are done in other culture, on the Internet!

This was a culture clash moment. Can't believe that very young hotel manager pro does not remember the cultural norms or has been careless about being briefed before he came back from overseas where tipping can be almost compulsory. In China, tipping in restaurants and hotels can be felt as an attempt at bribery! Flaunting one's money like a 1930s comprador throwing it at dancers and call girls is not the best image of oneself to project! Besides, China is a mostly cash less society now, where only old people still do transactions on the village markets with coins! YZM is supposed to have an assistant (He Dong) : has that one also been out of country so long and is he as careless as his boss not to warn him?
I read an explanation why YZM carry so much cash on him and tips so often. He just came back from abroad.
Yes, I was puzzled about that in the context of China's now mostly cash less society. Also, tips in restaurants and hotels are not the norm in China : it can be perceived as an attempt at bribery! Much worse than taking the blame for someone else for a peccadillo like the cake incident.

to work THERE. It looks like an interesting phrase but I thought it was callous and unjustified, and the "can't even..." is also disparaging. There is always a right upheld by laws to work somewhere. Sometimes the workplace is a battlefield where employees get mistreated, injured or sick people forced out, pregnant women put in positions where they are forced to resign or fired, young employees sexually harassed, jealousies or bias undermine the work... The team should show solidarity even if the workplace is not based on charity. Those who are wronged by people in power can't always single-handedly uphold their rights. They can only protect themselves mentally by not letting harm do too much lasting damage, try negotiation when possible, and if it does not work, maybe file a complaint in court.
Especially in a case like this when the employee had 7 years flawless experience and the new boss just came strolling to pick on someone to show his muscle without even having looked at employees track record. This felt as a very bad start for him and our story.
