There is competition from other romance dramas and strongly anticipated costume blockbusters landing hard on screens, on the heels of Pursuit of Jade. Competing for attention and airing slots is not easy with the crowded menu on hand. For audience to take it slow as a relaxing aside from heavier dramas is perhaps the best option. Express is for making money but marketing projections will decide if this is a sound option vs slower release and banking on the ads slots that are paid for.
Loving how the drama promotes beautiful places: Shen'ao village near Hangzhou is such a pretty "cun"! Hangzhou is already leafy and beautiful, but villages in Zhejiang and Jiangsu along the waterways are also unforgettable. It is a good idea to go to beautiful places if something is being bothersome : it also helps to get perspective. Ruan Yu was right to do this relatively small trip!
