I don't know much more, nor where that "country" (Federal Republic of Bomo), Monung city is, but start of the series looks interesting! Hmm, sounds like it's "Golden Triangle" related, perhaps. Reading up about that area's history and recent shift in crops and gang economy, on Wkipedia.

19 days filming only. But 4 screenwriters to come up with more spice for each short episode. And a good many female crew members at work, from glimpses of the kissing scenes BTS posted to YouTube. Some "dark cuisine" 😂 It was actually fun watching.
And I think the music was far from worst I heard, it got me interested enough to add myself to the hunt posse that want to find out more about the Dog God Granddad 😂

Of course, I don't think it is an undying masterpiece of 2024, or remarkable in the same way as the fondly remembered other "surprise hit" of 2021 : "The Imperial Coroner". But I'd leniently rate it only 2 points lower than the 10 I awarded to the Coroner (back when), because of the nonsense logic and plot holes overcome by sizzling scenes spiked with ridiculously good-looking goofy spice. I also appreciate that it was kept short, like a "latiao" snack!

Meanwhile, I was chuckling to find a very similar changing room scene in costume, in "Love You Found You" 😂

The changing room in first episodes of "Love You Found You" is the same at in EITDN ep3!! and almost the same trope there : going in to escape (escape rooms?!!) and to cuddle while other interested female is changing on the other side of the partition, and the dad (or other similar threatening antagonist) is waiting with big gun (or similar big knife) just on the other side of the curtain.
While having a quick look at YouTube alerts, my eyes wandered to a scene of "My Lethal Man" which had very similar office building esplanade as EITDN.... It's starting to become a strange mix in my memories of these items. Perhaps I should go for a walk to clear all that steamy fog.

But... then I just noticed that (for the addicted to nonsense, and hot scenes), the micro short drama, which I now found out in comments was filmed in 19 days and despite it certainly is not an "undying masterpiece" (full of plot holes), albeit it can now be added to the "sizzling" items, got enough traction to become widely talked about, and is available on YouTube with English subtitles (+ a good many funny BTS) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Dj72zGlThg

'87 is soo long ago... I don't think camcorders were around then ; sleek thin mobile phones definitely were not yet, and Tesla + remote control of vehicles much less.

Movies, dramas, novels, stories, should not be construed as a blueprint for real life behavior.
So yes, this micro drama is definitely not for naive under 16 audiences. NC-17 (18+) rating would be appropriate.
But, like the fantasy or myth stories of Gods, Fairies and Devils, or plain old fashioned horror tales, cult slasher movies, etc, such items have a function as magnet and outlet for "guilty pleasure" fantasies and warnings for excess which of course should not be enacted for real! For more seasoned audiences, there are over the top moments that become farcical and will satisfy the spicy (not too fluffy romantic) story seekers.

OK, if you did not have time, I have added it already, now 😊, but you can use the tutorial I sent to you in spoiler, to post other pictures here or for other dramas.

So, I watched this as a guilty pleasure, wondering how many fight scenes, wounded scenes, kabedon and caveman throwing over shoulder scenes, and assorted kissing would be thrown into the (dark) mix of playing with tropes. I was not bored at all, sometimes even amazed and thrilled! I did not catch all the sentences in dialogues which I think mixed in some Cantonese or very accented speech? The story is a bit sketchy, but evoked the sort of style in the manga that Xu Zheqing was leafing through in one of the concluding episodes. To me, I suspected it was based on such a story. But the drama pages don't mention one (although a comment on Douban darkly hinted to some plagiarism in first episodes, not stating exactly what that claim was based upon) ; Youku has original scripts, so perhaps that was one? Several screenwriters were involved : Shi Bing Xin (石冰心), Zhang Zi Wei (张紫薇), Chen Wen Yong (陈汶雍), Kuang Yu Cheng (旷雨澄) - I don't know any of those anyway.

Looking at the Baidu page, this was a "2024 micro-short drama starring Ren Yunjie and Gao Rongfang" for Youku (on which I got the alert) . Not much more there.

But there is a https://weibo.com/u/7868318186 link for the micro-drama, where the leads are described as "crazy wolf" and "little steel figure". The https://movie.douban.com/subject/36680538/ page has a number of comments on looks etc, finding the FL's jawline sharp, the ML "ugly" (he does have curiously mismatched eyes, so even with a mask should be recognizable) , the clothes "a bit cheap" (well, this was not high budget, and the product placements, although obvious, don't point to much investment).

+++... Some minutes Laaater : continuing my investigation, I think I found some clues that the Grandpa Dog God is an author-composer called Pan Ying 潘颖 who sings online, in folksong style and rap. .... Now I'll resume my watch of "Lost You Found You", which I'd left on hold after starting it, looking for more "drama snacks" like this quick one.

I hope they can overcome the hurdle. Both their presence on screen awoke my attention, somewhat like Dai Gaozheng (with Chen Fantong) did in Maid's Revenge !
They are not totally new, since they already have on-screen experience in 8-10+ dramas before, although I am not sure who was the "Xia Zhi" Gao Rong Fang played in AROTLF (which was not in my top dramas of the year then): was she one of the students who took the fossil, perhaps?
I don't mind pairings where one or both are in a relationship or married elsewhere, like Ren Jialun was when he filmed with Bai Lu (despite the reputed "forbidding intimate scenes" his wife imposes in his contracts)
It was amusing here in some scenes in first episodes, to see how make-believe intimacy could look like "on remote screen", when in fact the pair were hardly touching each other! (But I was really amazed by the kissing scenes which looked very real)
Fans of the CP should be a little more supportive of these interesting young actors who did very well here! 😊

I was investigating from same 狗神爷爷 clue, mentioned in a comment earlier, wondering if it meant the music was borrowed from other drama, but did not have time or energy to look more in depth. Thanks for your findings. Perhaps you could create an "Embrace in the Dark Night OST" Discussion for it ?
