They spend a lot of time discussing business plans sitting further than arm's length ! 41 kisses including smooches and pecks don't use much time. It's a real melodrama with a love triangle, all star-crossed although it resolves the triangle with a sort of happy end.
The grand piano was hauled off to the various locations around the world (Seattle, Beijing, China etc). Tong Dawei is reputed to have used some muscle to have the twin mansions along the Jinhai Lake to the north of the capital, allow to be used. Some parts were also filmed in or around Changsha, Hunan province, in the small town of Xiangxi, Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture; and in Seattle and Vancouver. Since filming goes back to Oct 2015-Jan 2016, this is a bit of a trip to the past.
I was curious about how Tong Dawei and Liu Shishi played in that one, since I had admired their acts in 2024 The Story of Rose and 2023-24 A Journey To Love : Tong Dawei was familiar from the later drama, but Liu ShiShi was totally different as a sort of airhead to start with.
Enduring the painful interference by the main antagonist (the jealous MiLan), I went from episode to episode, and thought this was a melodrama that fits the definition, including with a lot of incongruities and some tropes.
Since I watched it, I can say it is watchable, for those who aren't afraid of some pain, either jaded or liking to use handkerchief to dry tears, and to shout in anger at the wrongdoings. I belong to first category, so looked at it all with some... amusement. I didn't even skip scenes or episodes, although some parts were predictable. There were some sweet scenes, and I liked the wind recording ones in the canyon (despite I remembered something similar from another drama, the name of which eludes me right now: I watched too many of these Chinese "soaps", probably!)
The music has nice classical piano pieces, and we learn the Chinese nickname for a famous piece by Chopin in the last part, when the FL learns to play the piano.

Why should we audiences be fixated on one character? (Don't ask me why production and director let it be so, that this one turned out frustrating!) Personally, how and what she played in EB part1 will not influence me one way or the other when watching her in other dramas. But I do blame production, scriptwriter and director, if forcing LMZ's character in, like they did in EB, frustrates audiences Though the story is only half told, so we need to see EB part2 to really know how it will evolve.
Embarking soon on a new wuxia, now: Dashing Youth, the story of the generation before The Blood of Youth. Since these stories are also mostly male centric, I hope production will not force in too many mushy females. But, lol, since I like all sorts, including romance, I am also relishing As Beautiful As You (Xu Kai and Seven Tan turn out to be an excellent pairing).

Actually I like the double subtitling. Unfortunately, when they believe they have a better translation, they do away with the Hanzi. So all episodes are not double subtitled and anyway, downloading does not work on my end, I can only watch, which is already very nice! So, despite this is not from official, I mention it as a way to watch the drama, in the companion piece which I should be finishing soon as I am re-watching, not too fast.
