Koh is... Cold, ruthless, manipulative, calculating, emotionally unbalance, severe, dominant and all those other heartless adjectives that tick the same box, but Koh is compelling. He doesn't reach for warmth, he makes others come to him (see Jira and Pheem doing so out of habit so it becomes a pattern that they don't question).
Koh can also be terrifyingly honest and he doesn't bend over for empathy; he don't know her. 😑
Yet, I love Koh! I love how Off owns the character. I love how he wears Koh like a second skin. I love how Koh touches power without apology. Deep down, he wants to be saved, but he isn't begging for it. The writer in me loves Koh because this is a character writers wouldn't have to explain every five to ten minutes.
He acts and the world reacts.
Koh is not written to be relatable, he's written to be revealing (peep next week's vulnerability in front of Jira). He doesn't require justification nor redemption and that's intoxicating!
He says the quiet part out loud and keeps going. He doesn't overflow with feeling; he withholds so that's why he could easily lie to Jira about his "feelings". Yet, this creates emotional, psychological and even sexual tension and we've seen Koh exhibiting all those tensions at some point.
The writer in me also love the fact that Koh is not a bargainer. Where in storytelling the writer is pressured or obligated to reassure the audience that the character is damaged goods, but he's nice chinaware, Koh SCORNS that like the plague! 😮
The writer who created Koh knows the world isn't soft and it'd be a waste of time for Koh to pretend otherwise. So kudos to Off Jumpol for bravely taking on a character like this and playing it with gusto! Best darn character ever he'll ever portray. 👏 👏
Jira deserves a taste of his own medicine. He's toying with Pheem even if he's trying to "feel" a type of way about someone he knows he doesn't exactly have a lot of feelings for.
"Don't you forget I'm the only person who sees value in your art."
And that look Koh turns to give Pheem? Man, he'd make even angels cry! That was so satisfying. Not the controlling blackmail, but the "look". Off has really come a long way as an actor. 👏
Koh is out here telling Jira "don't be like tulips" and I'm over here, nodding, agreeing that Tulip (Emi in Friendsh*t Forever) is not who Jira aspire to be anyways. 😂🤣
What I've noticed in this episode is that Pheem is willing to go to lengths to do ANYTHING for Jira just to get him in bed, but he's not communicating. Rather, he's observing what Jira likes and like the sadist that he is, he tries to accommodate Jira's taste into his life even if it means getting a tattoo.
Meanwhile, Koh observes, yes, but he's willing to get to know Jira on a more intimate level. I mean, look at the man trying to guess Jira's favorite flower. *Le swoon*
I know he's not the greenest flag on the hill, but I. LOVE. KOH! He's the dream character a writer like me can only dream of writing. And Off pulls off Koh like a second skin that it's hard to not to want to root for Koh despite his insecurities. 😔
"He'll definitely fall in love with me." SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! Koh is in his feelings! 😂
Um, Jira already likes you, though, while pretending to like Pheem. Let me know these besties are devious bastards who get their joy from stealing one another's conquest.

LIES!!! THE HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE LIES!!!! 😭
But ...

Me: Is Jira a dog? 🙃

Wait, I need a moment to question myself. 🤔 Am I into red flags?
Gun's Koh-inspired wardrobe throughout the show has been 🧑🍳😘. In real life, fashion houses sleeping on the model this man can be on the runway.
