For the record: I dislike Ha Ji Won too and don't get why people love her. However, to her credit. I dislike most Korean actresses except about three.

When I saw the notification, I was prepared for backlash but what a pleasant surprise. I blush at the praise, lol. I could have sworn everyone liked that drama but me. It grated on my nerves on so many occasions I kept wondering why it was so highly recommended. I settled on the reason that it was just not my cup of tea.
On I Hear Your Voice Dec 31, 2013
This whole drama could have been prevented if she approached the lawyers with the evidence and chose to remain anonymous. There we go, problems solved. It's not like the villain knew her. Another B.S factor. It was night time, he was like forty meters away and there were two girls. Even if we assume he saw them, he would never have known who testified. Plus is Korea devoid of witness protection? He yelled he would kill her in court and it seems no one gave a damn. Plus he gets like fifteen years for murder? Lol. So many dumb plot holes.

I think the reason I can't remember is b/c I didn't understand most of it. I think you need to take a lesson in…
You don't need a history lesson to understand it. It really was a mess and had no actual plot. Too much happening with no real progression or plot. It's like a revolution amidst an invasion, then some weird romance... Terrible yet enjoyable. Watch for the cast (Eg. Hwang Jung Min) Nothing more.

This is one those shows that are criminally overrated at MDL. First 8 or 9 episodes were awesome, but afterwards…
Someone with the same perspective. Oh yes lawd, You have earned the right to rub your face in my bosom.

I don't blame you, lol. I find a like a lot of low key stuff. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy the fluff and romances but I expect my thrillers to be well done in terms of plot and to represent something beyond just mindless thrilling. It doesn't mean I want a bunch of old men to just sit around a table discussing politics. If I wanted that I would watch C-span Lol. Heavens, though did I rant about this drama like you wouldn't believe. I guess I am kind of guilty though of liking stuff that's very low key. Most of the stuff other people rave about I just totally dislike. As in I Hear Your Voice is ranked close to this and good God did I rant about that drama like no man's business, LMAO. I swear I have wondered multiple times if I was watching the same drama as everyone else. Then again as a swahili proverb says "Intelligence is like hair, everyone has theirs.

I actually thought the ending was pretty predictable. I was even hoping it wasn't that way. It annoyed me a little because I now just notice so many plot holes. There is no way the police would be that careless.

PS. This movie was brought to you by blackberry. LOL, quite the product placement there.

Ok guys, i just want to know if it deserved all the hype?
Lee Min ho and Park Shin Hye were the worst part about this drama. In fact, watch it for everyone but these two.

Yup, I did, even in my pickiness. I think it's because I had no expectations at all. I do like Woo bin too and he plays an enjoyable character. You will either love it or hate it. What's the harm in trying? To be honest, I've disliked a lot of dramas that were loved this year and strongly recommended.

The hype comes from it being entertaining, not intellectually stimulating or even a master piece. The characters may irritate you and you may not care for a lot of them but it has an addictive quality to it that keeps you there. I won't tell you that there's anything original or magnificent though.

I don't like him either and I honestly think his acting is super overrated, but I can safely say, he was not the one who made me stay and I did not care for the character he played at all making this far better!

I found so many to be overrated, that category tormented me
I hear Your Voice
Gu Family Book
Secret

For me super overrated and abandoned. I even managed to finish The Heirs because even in it's awfulness it captured your interest. Secret and Gu Family Book had such dumb characters, I was raging. I just don't get how they could behave so stupidly.

Done after ten episodes. The script is lackadaisical and so tinged with Korean nationalism, it's almost laughable. I wouldn't mind that if it was subtle but there are things that the enemy's character says that are laughable. I thought to myself he may as well start waving a Goryo flag because he exists clearly to praise Goryo despite being Mongolian. He'll be like "We must take over Goryo, you know how strong and fierce their people are." I'll be like what? This is some years after Genghis Khan's empire which is one of the largest empires in history, I mean such BS. Furthermore, the only reason the leads haven't died or suffered much is because they are leads. Seriously, they should have all died so bloody easily and by like the fifth episode, it's a wonder they are still alive. Meaning, the villains seem smart but their plots are idiotically delivered. Eish, done.

The Korean version is no masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but it deserves Emmys and Golden Globes…
I'm sorry but the acting in the Korean one sucked so bad, I couldn't get passed episode 4. Perhaps, it's now that the cast have branched off from being rookies to starring in their own relative dramas but seriously, I remember cringing every time. I who read the manga and watched the anime was like what is this garbage?

There really wasn't much mystery in this, after a certain point it just got boring. Most of them didn't seem too…
As opposed to mystery, I believe the drama simply wanted to answer the fundamental question of nature versus nurture. Though, I will fault it simply for playing the convenience card a touch too much. Little touches of dramaland reality (not actually possible in the real world) here and there. Though, honestly it never really answers that...

Cried like a baby. I have been told more than once, I am an emotional rock and I've even come to accept I am drier than the desert (except on windy days) but gosh, this movie unveiled an oasis in me and I just was a mess! Some people are peeved about about how graphic it is but I think that's what makes it have impact and I appreciate that they didn't try to sugar coat this. Abuse happens, it is beyond tragic and anything that we can imagine. The realistic portrayal forces us to come to terms with this and swallow it. It is telling you not to be detached. This isn't a you're watching the news and five minutes later you'll forget. This is a movie that prompted a movement in Korea and justly so. Gosh, though was I a wreck. I am not sure I'm ready to watch anything like this again because the truth is truly hard to swallow.

You have a point. It really wasn't politics in the way I expected it to be because I expected the highlight of Japanese imperialism. I wanted more on the ideology, policy/laws and ruling sentiment at the time. There was a smidgen of that in that if you want to learn anything about Japanese imperialism, this is not the drama for that. Furthermore, I did not even mention the western like themes that are pervasive in this drama that are so flawed. There's only so much I can say with these limitations. It started out very political actually before politics became wall paper. For instance Kang To's brother. Up until that point I was raving about this. I was telling everyone you have to watch this! Then he died and so too did the plot start deteriorating. I did enjoy character development only in terms of Ki Woong's character who was far more well written. Too much to say, too many limits.

There's only so much I can write about but I wrote numerous rants about this drama. I didn't even care for the chemistry. I was expecting more politics. Furthermore, I had someone spoil the drama for me because I accepted I would never finish it. Perhaps it's the mild knowledge I have of Japanese imperialism that made me think this was BS, but honestly, feel free to write me what was in the drama that I missed.I tend to enjoy political dramas and thrillers and while this had some potential, there were so many things that grated on my nerves, Plus "only 14 episodes." If a drama fails to establish itself properly in 14 episodes, there is something seriously wrong. By episode 14 the plot should have advanced beyond the kidnapping and releasing of the female lead. But honestly, let me know what I missed. I am not so up my arse that I'm not willing to listen to other opinions

The only one not enamored with this drama. It became a melodrama and had such dumb plot holes that annoyed me to the end. Furthermore, it seems Japanese imperialism and the fate of Korea rests in the hands of a woman for no reason at all. When people speak about politics in regards to this drama I have to ask what politics? There is barely any politics at all. What of the horrors of Japanese Imperialism? Instead I kid you not, there are about ten episodes that revolve around the female lead being captured only so two of the male leads can rescue her. What sucks is the two male leads have more chemistry than her.
