OMG, I gave Giant a 9? What? It's definitely not a nine but it's good. It's another revenge plot that is carried by the male protagonist. The female lead is absolutely dreadful and I have to grit my teeth in regards to her. Nonetheless, it has great progression and development. It again suffers from a few formulaic devices that don't need to be there but I made it to 22 (or is it 24) episodes which is A LOT. I thought I would be done by episode 4 but it really keeps you invested. I will update my lists right now. I haven't seen Lovers or Golden Empire but City Hall is super charming. I really have no preference as long as the story is well told. As with music, I listen to just about everything.

You call it boring and repetitive, huge difference in opinion. I can safely say though even clouded with bias that it is definitely not boring and repetitive. Especially considering the suspense and thrills in the first half. Though, to be fair, a lot of things I rave about don't exactly thrill the masses.

But Giant is also 50 episodes. Which is why despite how interesting it was I could never reach the end. How my sister does it is beyond me. She finished like 70 episodes of a drama and I marvel at that when I have a hard time finishing like 20. I also like Ju Jim Mu but yeah, not that much... lol

You know what. Please watch Empress Ki so we can distastefully mock it. I'm not even going to be a classy lady about that one. If you end up liking it though...

Where does one start with Empress Ki? I mean if the over exaggerated villains with their evil monologues and rogue like looks were not cringe worthy enough, then surely Ha Ji Won's wide eyes and Ju Jin Mo's cliche slow motion turns should be off putting. If not, that script. That script is just lazy! The villains are dumb. I assume the Ha Ji Won pandering is so people can be like "girl power" but really, there is nothing remotely charming about her character. Initially, yes but make no mistake because she goes from a bad arse tomboy to like a maid catering to the whims of the cutie, light hearted yet "clever" emperor that is played by Ji Chang Wook. Basically, the same role he's played in Warrior Baek Dong Soo, The Vegetable drama, etc. Basically, I hated (borrowing my soompi rant), character relationships, convenient plot, lazy script, terrible directing, nationalism.. uhm, everything...

Title Empress Ki
OMG, how is this so well rated? HOW?! I remember following this until episode 10 and it was unbearable, terribly written, cheesy and so freaking predictable. Ugh. From the villainous monologues, evil laughs, Ha Ji Won's doe eyed looks and Ju Jin Mo's slow motion turns. Furthermore, Ji Chan Wook's stereotypical cute, light hearted role that he plays in every drama to the awful awful script. The worst script I have sat through. It's so nationalistic that perhaps, I observe things too closely but there was so much dick riding of Goryo in the script, I was like ugh. I know there is no way the writing and directing improved so how in the world is this so high up?

I mean honestly, Empress Ki actually sucks. If you ever have the choice to watch it or get tortured, choose the torture. The script is ridiculous and dumb. Furthermore, it's so tinged with Korean nationalism that you can't help but grimace or simply burst out laughing. The direction and production is also f**king awful. (Can you tell already how much I dislike it). It's the type of drama I'd invite you to watch so we can laugh at how terrible it is. As in seriously, the evil guys do evil laughs and villainous monologues. Even if I'm willing to accept that, the fact that they huff and puff at the camera is ridiculous. Plus, you can predict like every frame. I made it to 8 episodes.

I have yet to attempt the Princess Man because my distaste towards Park Si Hoo needs to be tamed. He's a pet peeve of mine for no legitimate reason but he rubs me the wrong way and as soon as I get passed his mannerisms, I will attempt it. Also, if someone tempts me with it. At the moment though, I am in search of something light due to legal High. Unless of course an astounding thriller comes along. I can always make way for a good thriller but I'd really just like to sit back and watch something decent with a dash of pretty boys. Hmm, I feel like brain has terrible reviews. However, yeah, considering how many of the top rated dramas I did not care for, do take the reviews with a sea worth of salt. Like Empress Ki sucks so bad, how in the world is it up there. I actually did a double take in real life and actually legitimately said out loud "How the f**k is this so well rated?"

Have you tried the gloriousness that is Brain by the way? Though I dunno if you'll like it. I tend to project my likes but I LOVED it. Though a tad exaggerated in the acting. Shin Ha Kyun really carries the plot. He's selfish, arrogant, prideful and an absolute joy. I'm a sucker for Jack arses, you might hate him to the point of no return but give it a try some time.

Okay, so that reply was meant to be for you but posted on Rosie's profile. Who if she should see this goes on my black list because how dare anyone bad mouth the gloriousness that is TWDR? How dare a mere mortal even uttereth such despicable words. I prithee we must force her to eat 10 ripe bananas. Unless, she likes bananas then she just remains on my black list because bananas are disgusting. Ugh.

"TWDR has a convoluted, uninteresting plot ..." OH HELL No. *Takes off earrings* do not listen to the whispers of this Angel. I say angel because devils are so much more interesting, don't know why anyone would want to be an Angel. Yeah, it has no romance so if romance is your thing, avoid like the plague but the plot isn't that convoluted. It's muddled in the middle because once again, Korea cannot create a plot without attempting to create some strange lovey dovey weirdness. Nonetheless, there has been no drama this well acted ever! Strong declaration but it's true. King Sejong and the antagonist carry this plot. As with my review, I tried to explain that the conflict is driven by the establishment of a democracy vs the deterioration of Confucian values as a result of writing. Okay, now I'm making it sound like a CNN debate. *Sigh* Honestly, though, you might not like it. Many don't.

I think I am not partial to romantic comedies no matter what because even the Japanese ones don't thoroughly entertain me. However, I find K-dramas need stick romances in even the most ill placed of settings which is very grating. It could be a story in the middle of the desert and they'd put romance in there and throw in an evil step mother because that's how they role. That's also what I mean by lack of variety and that settled formula. Even in thrillers, historical, etc, there's still some dumb prince charming and his damsel in distress that he can't forget from kindergarten. They also have the most intolerable female leads. It's the reason why the one female character, I have ever seriously loved is Lady Mishil. God forbid, they replicate her character. *Sigh* really nothing we can do about but it but keep entertaining yet torturing ourselves with it.

Yup, I won't even lie. It's obvious that a lot of Japanese dramas are better written and they do mystery so well. Nonetheless, we are in the times of short attention spans, fast paces and schizophrenic type of angle changes. Unfortunately, I find Japanese dramas to have a somewhat retro pacing and even if the story is solid, it means they have to work harder to suck you in. I don't think K-drama necessarily have more variety so much as what I call a "suckers formula." It will irritate you but it will suck you in. I liken it to how my sister can't stop watching reality TV. There's a cocaine like addictiveness even if you know it not only sucks but it won't get better. Granted, I don't finish a lot of K-dramas but despite knowing nothing has changed, I return like the prodigal son. I've simply accepted that I am to some extent K-dramas bitch.

I loved it. It's over the top but so funny.

Legal High and Hanzawa Naoki for me. I am all sorts of pickiness so for me to actually thoroughly enjoy Legal High was unexpected. It's been a very long time, a comedy has not only made me laugh but been so well written that I marvelled at the writers. The pacing and exaggerated humor actually work so bloody well. It's ridiculous how well written Legal High was.

I also tallied up the results of the polls when you remove the big 3 (Last Cinderella, Itakiss, and Kazoku Game)…
A far better list than the actual one. Hanzawa Naoki and Legal High are the only two dramas that captivated me in 2013. They were both so well written that I even watched the Second season of Legal High. I am notorious for not ever finishing let along actually watching another season!

Still amazed this made top 10 especially when you see the list of well written and better acted dramas below it. I wouldn't even call this good. This drama is seriously mediocre.

No offense to those who liked Bridal Mask, but it's one of the dramas that I liked the least out of many that…
I'll drink to you sir.

I don't watch a lot of J-drama. Someone recommended Last Cinderella and I could not do it. I dropped it half way. However, I finished Hanzawa Naoki recently and my gosh, is there a second season? It was awesome!!! I loved it a lot. The acting though in dramatic J-drama fashion was absolutely superb. It would however still get an 8 or 9 on my list because while very well written, some things irked me.
