I was shocked to see this at the top. It took everything I had in me to stomach the nine episodes I watched. I mean it REALLY TOOK EVERYTHING. With each passing episode of Ha Ji Won's doe eyed looks, main character dick riding, stereotypical and retro villainous laughs and Ji Chang Wook just being every Ji Chang Wook role, I could feel my patience being stretched thin, this story literally gave me a headache by like episode seven. I professed if someone made me sit through another episode, I might literally go rampant in the streets. Plot was all over the place and comically bad. Villains also suffer from atrocious planning and some of the worst political decisions ever. If you are a sucker for logic, stay away. I warn anyone who values a decent plot to stay away. Especially you some of you folks on my friend's list. you will not like this.
Just reading the premise is making me tear up. I admit, I'm a total wimp when it comes to abuse stories. I shed way too many tears during the Crucible.
I didn't bother writing a review because it would have been very short. "What was this movie about again? Who knows and who cares." Boring, no clear cut story line, no engaging characters, no good acting, basically there was nothing.
Hwayi was an underdeveloped mess. Too many concepts yet none that were legitimately built upon. I need to see Miracle in Cell No. 7. The Face Reader was my fave that I've seen. I don't say that highly because I didn't think it was that amazing but it was entertaining and Lee Jung Jae was phenomenal.
How anyone can rate this mess a 10 baffles me. Did I watcht he same movie? Ugh, it was so all over the place without any true developed focus that I wanted to rewind time, steal the script and fix this mess.
I personally watched six episodes and dropped. I was perhaps in a picky mood and this was not delivering. Jo In Sung's acting was terrible in the beginning. Even his speaking to his other self (which you kind of figure out) just looked awkward to me. It felt like he had no grasp on his character that I really had to rake my brain to remember his discography. I did not remember him being so awkward. The script was also a headless chicken as it tried to force the romance between the two leads. In a matter of two episodes, she had broken up, cried and thrown a tantrum and was already falling for Jo In Sung. Then was the wallpaper psychology which surprisingly, did not bother me too much but I do wish it was better done. The script just could not balance out the humor and the serious tones. Also, she really did not seem like a qualified psychiatrist but I still forced myself to swallow that as she showed believable emotion when it mattered. I think I'm over the whole "leads bickering until they fall in love." Maybe it gets better. I will put it on a to try again because the first couple of episodes told me, I might end up with another I hear Your Voice type of review. (Disliked that show, still do).
I will praise the show for bothering to tackle issues which is why some things were forgivable. Very rarely is mental illness a focus. It's what makes me think, I might return but I really need to be willing to get passed Jo In Sung. I hope he adjusts to his role more because his emotional inconsistencies were very underwhelming.
Han Suk Kyu!! I am so excited for this. This makes it the first time ever I've really been excited about a drama. I've waited months since hearing HSK would be coming back to do a drama. This is going to deliver like a jajangmyeon restaurant! Oh yeah.
Here goes another article for fans to just complain about America ruining everything -_- all hail South Korea…
You must be watching the wrong shows. I feel like this is why fans of Asian dramas bitch. You're all too stuck in this bubble to appreciate good western shows. Even the ones with sex like Game of Thrones throttle the best dramas out there. Shows like Breaking Bad, etc. So good. Funny enough I cannot stand western shows that remind me or watch like K-dramas. I really could not stomach True Blood, yet if it was a k-drama I know everyone would be all over it like a bag of potato chips. Then again, must be why I never made it past episode four of MLFAS (or however you would abbreviate this). I get tired of dramas so fast...
Is this just another name for "Attractive boys who play bad guys." On that note, Lee Jung Jae as Prince Sung Yang. Everything about that role fitted him. His slow motion entrance was just the most charismatic thing I've ever seen. He carried himself with that wolfish confidence that I was instantly captivated.
I've watched a lot of kdramas, but I've cried only with three songs. Hard to say since I'm a little bit sensitive…
Just for the one song I truly love by Ulala's session, I give you a thumbs up. Didn't cry but it is such a "my feels" song. If you've watched scent of a woman, Bucket list is one I recommend. That song coupled with Kim Sun Ah's crying. :_;
I watched all 5 dramas nominated, so here's my 2 cents... Each of us likes a genre more than others, has fav.…
I'm also not fully sold on Kang Ho hence why he's not on my list. He's definitely good but I haven't been like "blown away" yet. Same with Choi Min Sik although I find him to be the most natural especially in terms of new movies. Lee Jung Jae is my love, my treasure, my everything right now!
To me there are now only four actresses, I can put up with. This is excluding the veterans simply because they are non-existent. I agreed with the criticism that Korea does not nurture their older actresses. It's very rare to see a Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Emma Thompson, etc. There is no like Choi Min Sik or Song Kang Ho equivalent among the females. Hence, I must put up with pretty faces that cannot act. I swear I've thought some actresses were rookies but turns out they've been acting for like ten years!
Jun Ji Hyun is a little iffy for me simply because, she kind of plays the same characters too. I mean if you watch The Thieves, it really is kind of the same character as Man From The Stars. Also, I haven't seen enough to be fully sold on her. She's not terrible as of yet but not great either. I don't understand the Lee Bo Young hype and I will never either. Honestly, spot on there in terms of her aloofness and stiffness. On that note though, honestly, that's like 90% of actresses which is why I said I am dissatisfied with most. I Hear Your Voice is not for anyone who is picky, I'll tell you that. If you tread those waters, I'm warning you, it is not well written in the least. I mean the law was fecking terrible. For me to add the "fecking" means it was bloody freaking awful. It wasn't even law. I mean forget evidence because it does not even count! Also Lee Jong Suk's character had a power that again is a matter of convenience. Gosh, this plot was just convenience all around. I swear one day I will stop shaking my fists about that drama. However, you know when someone really recommends you something you have no interest in but they tell you it's good, blah blah blah and against your better judgment you watch it and half way through, you're like "Okay, is it me or is this terrible?" I had that moment with IHYV. Give me my ten and some hours back!
Kim Soo Hyun might have taken home three trophies, but let's not forget that 2 of them are public vote based (and…
Amen. Such flawlessness that thou art granted the right to my bosom. Yeo Jin Gu please! That boy is easily one of the best young actors around! This is honestly not the first time Kim Soo Hyun has won a Baeksang and I've been like "What the fuck?" He won it in 2012 for Moon That Embraces the sun. He won it over Han Suk Kyu (Tree With Deep Roots) and Shin Ha Kyun (Brain). I'm still pissy about that. I mean very pissy and I actually think Kim Soo Hyun is good but really I will let him finish... but Han Suk Kyu gave one of the best performances in Korean drama history. That was the same awards they also gave Suzy best actress. Laughable stuff really!
I watched all 5 dramas nominated, so here's my 2 cents... Each of us likes a genre more than others, has fav.…
I still harbor the opinion that I hear Your Voice was overrated and seriously lackadaisical in terms of script yet everyone else remains charmed by it. To each his own though. I found the characters to be very incompetent and to be pardoned by the convenient plot line. I did not care for PBY's character either. Everyone says she strong but wherefore art thou strength? She gets a job she is totally not qualified for, then does a poor job with terrible reasoning for a bulk of her cases... I personally watched ten episodes just to see if it would get better. I was dry by episode six but clung on in the hopes that perhaps it would get better, nope, didn't happen. The acting was mediocre in my opinion. Honestly, the quite typical noona character... I don't know why everyone is acting like this is the first time the noona character has appeared... Nonetheless, there was nothing challenging or riveting about the role. I even felt that for sure that Jun Ji Hyun at least brought more to the table in terms of her "noona" type of character in Man From the Stars. She crafted a character that is practically synonymous with her. Memorable lines, charming and charismatic. It's another drama I didn't finish but her character stood out. I find the Answer me series to be dry and requiring way too much effort than I am willing to give. I just cannot quite adjust to the tone and really slow build up if there is no Hanzawa Naoki-esque guarantee that I will like it. Nonetheless, I can only cheer for Lee Jung Jae and Song Kang Ho because I watched the Face Reader and awesome sauce!
I have no words about Lee Jong Suk. No words. I don't even know how one goes about declaring his "modelly" acting to be good. I don't know what they are seeing. I had to tolerate him in the Face Reader. I simply live tolerating it because he's impossible to avoid. They stick him in everything I want to watch! Ugh, he's like the new Jung Il Woo of dramas (Another one, I live tolerating!)
Meh, surprisingly didn't care for this even though I liked the cast. Unfortunately, it clearly was not trying to be solid with the plot. It's all over the place and feels like a cheap hollywood imitation with totally lackluster characters. Also, maybe due to the fact that we are in 2012 and this is a kind of "Oceans 11" dupe, the idea of robbers seems just so retro. I'm not docking marks for the idea but I must say when I was watching it, I was like my goodness, they should all just learn to hack instead of swinging around buildings with clearly 20th century technology...
Yikes, not the article to declare my aversion towards the guy. Let's be honest, he plays just about the same characters. Smile You, Empress Ki, Bachelor's Vegetable Store and Warrior Baek Dong Soo are all practically the same character. A playful hero type that shows his "true" abilities as the story progresses. Mhmm, come at me. Lol, I Kid about the come at me part not about the same characters. His acting has no versatility that I'm so used to just about every expression he makes. He also has a tendency to pull what I like to call the "sour face." I don't know if it's a habit but he always does the sour face. He also does that breathy thing and I'm like ugh. He's a step above Jung Il Woo and Lee Jong Suk though cause he at least can cry well (sometimes).

Me and the writer clearly have different tastes because I couldn't finish some of the dramas above and some of them just aren't sad for me.
