Quite frankly, the worst drama I have watched in a while. I cannot believe writers still think these easy go lucky and formulaic plots with mediocre humor is acceptable. It was a chore to finish two episodes. What's worse is the acting. Choi Jin Hyuk deserves better than those slap stick like expressions. Humor is really not his forte. Of course this wouldn't be complete without an evil mother, could it?

I tend to have three reactions.
1. Holy hell, that was terrible, how in the world did I manage to finish that? (The Heirs, Warrior Baek Dong Soo, Cinderella Man.)
2. That was the best thing I have ever watched, I probably won't be able to watch anything else after this because nothing will compare. (Old Boy, Tree With Deep Roots.)
3. That was pretty good, I need to get back to watching drama. They've gotten better. (Master's Sun, City Hall)

I don't really know what Erotica to recommend that's not on the gay side and even then I honestly have no recommendations except an online author who I'm not sure writes anymore. *Shrugs* To be honest, I rarely finish any of them *shifty eyes.* I stopped watching dramas. I watched about three episodes of You Who Came From The Stars and Miss Korea before I became side tracked. I've only watched five movies and kind of stalled. I've been somewhat busy with school and work so I have yet to do much. Plus, I only started drama watching towards the end of last year. It was about half way through Heirs but prior to that, I hadn't watched anything in about 1 and a half years or really finished anything. I am guilty of not finishing a lot of dramas. I just so rarely ever finish a drama that I consider it something amazing finishing one. Also not every movie I want to watch is subbed...

I watched the first two seasons two and it's quite faithful to the book sans a few details here and there. The first three books are the best though, especially the third. You just never know what he'll throw at you!

Yup, that's R.R Martin and I am addicted to that series. Yeah, I also can't stand pure erotica. As I mentioned with porn, I get so bored. I just need to have a story line. My problem with romance though is not that I hate it, it's that it's so rarely well done, I end up annoyed. I stopped reading romance novels when I was like 12 because of how irritating they were. Then again, at that time I got into Christopher Pike and thought he was the greatest thing on earth. Funny, how I read his stuff two years later and found it childish, but it was my first introduction into somewhat erotic content. What bothers me with hetero BDSM is I can't stand watching a woman being dominated unless she is doing the domination, lol. Worse is the stockholm syndrome. They get tortured and come back to the guy and I just want to choke not only the writers but the characters.

PS. Gay fiction is da bomb!

I as opposed to romantic erotica favor the background plot slightly more though my preference right now is towards gay fiction. Yes, I confess, I find it entertaining. When it comes to hetero, the book has to be superb like the Song of Ice and Fire series. I need to know that the erotic content is not getting in the way of the plot. I've been on a site that I yet again confess, posts books download. I am a chronic book buyer but just can't bring myself to buy erotica. Also, my shelf is full of books and it was such a pain in the arse moving that I swore to get a kindle. Basically, I'm reading a lot of online stuff. A lot of it is Twilight level though so lots of weeding to get to something decent. I don't like pure erotica because I get so bored. It's the same with porn, my friend got me to watch it with him and I was so bloody bored. I actually fell asleep.

I am totally the same. To be honest, despite once being a chronic book worm, the allure has faded with time and responsibility. I have such a love hate relationship with BDSM, it's not my quirk. I prefer domination without the use of toys. I'm for th dominate with oral. Nonetheless, I am open to a lot except anything involving fecal matter. I have yet to try Golden Empire. I'll put it on my list.

I'm all about movies these days but I've gone back to reading. I've developed an obsession with erotic fiction, lol. Of course even then I'm still picky, lol. I need some substance coupled with good erotic moments. A lot of them are terrible but the good authors are addictive. I cannot even watch a drama these days. I've decided to take a break until something worth while comes along. If there's anything good around let me know. What are you up to?

I don't mind a small selection. After all, this is all subject to my movie watching and since I rarely get captivated by stuff, a small selection works.

What defines a 'strong' woman? Excellence at her job? Confidence? Independence? Her ability to accomplish things…
Bless your heart. I don't think I will ever need to comment as long as you're around.

To be honest, if I wasn't perving over Woon I can attest this is one of the worst written dramas that I guiltily finished despite the terrible writing and nonsensical plot devices. Starts out great but eventually you have a dumb plot twist, an ill-planned revolution and a mopey Woon who has no reason to mop at all. He broods over his non-existent evil ways. Does he ever even kill anyone? Nope. He's like the worst assassin on the planet. However, you will stay for the bromance between two pretty boys because ultimately, not much substance there.

Title Bridal Mask
The only one not enamored with this drama. It became a melodrama and had such dumb plot holes that annoyed me…
It's another reason I don't watch television in general. I'm trying to get into production but because there are very few creative liberties, it makes it hard to do anything. This is why I favor HBO and at times AMC. Unlike, the prime networks, they have more creative liberties and are more likely to take a risk. Hence, why they produce some of the best shows on television. From Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Wire, etc. I am also lately enjoying Netflix shows because they are also more invested in the script and show. It's also another reason I'm no longer watching dramas. I go through phases where I'll watch a couple of dramas then not bother for like a year. Furthermore, I underrate Korean television to be honest. If any western show had the same plot as a drama, I would probably mock how terrible it is.

I also come from a country that was colonzed and I've watched enough political thrillers to wonder where is the politics in this? There was barely any portrayal of Japanese imperialism. In fact, a review I agreed with blatantly asked... Did the fate of Korea rest on a woman's kidnapping? Japanese imperialism was far worse than the westernized theme and pointless kidnapping of some chik. The plot often revolves around her for no reason and when it's not, it's about bromance. I really liked the episodes when the brother was Bridal Mask. It portrayed the horrors and the struggles so well while still being so thrilling. Then after came the disappointments and grating plot holes. I would actually take a documentary over this. I enjoyed reading about Nan King and actually enjoy Asian literature though mostly Chinese and Japanese. If people don't want a political drama, they can stick to fluff butId rather see something well done and accurate even with a touch of fiction. For instance, The Face Reader .

I might be interested in MDL writing especially the movies part because I find it difficult to finish even the most raved about dramas. I'd especially like to do it under "A picky and critical guide to movies"

I can imagine the mess that would be a live action Spirited Away and I haven't watched it yet but I'm familiar with some studio Ghibil's works enough to know that would make a messy translation into live action. Their is an element to their movies that just cannot be translated.

I disliked one thing about this movie...the fact that the "evil guy' had no real depth. I feel like if they…
I just wrote my review and that bugged me too!! He's very stereotypical. Glad, I'm not the only one who saw this but yes, pointed that out too.

Cho Seong Yi is a pretty strong character but there's also that quirk about her constantly needing rescue and I dislike that aspect of YWCFTS. As in my goodness, can we have a moment of the female lead who is supposedly strong not needing to be in situations of Damsel in Distresness? For instance, Ha Ji Won plays strong characters who later fall into the trend of giving wide eyed doe looks and being dragged around by the male lead in his need to assert his importance. I have yet to be fully satisfied with a strong female character other than Mishil because she had the qualities given to male leads in dramas. If there exists a female character with this amount of dominance in drama land, I need to know about them. I find ironically speaking, it's often the "bitch" character that is actually the strongest among the females. She may be a intolerable but she knows what she wants.
DramaNoona Feb 12, 2014
The true and strongest female lead I have come across are Lady Mishil and to some extent Sam Soon. I find some of the women listed above still have some man protecting them or are in constant need of rescue. Lee Bo Young for instance was not that strong of a character to me in I hear Your Voice. She was so incompetent at her job and often got scolded for not only mixing personal feelings but never competently going through the facts before representing someone. I watched ten episodes of it and she was terrible at her job! Not one court case did she competently complete by herself without needing help or objectively looking at the facts. Lady Mishil on the other hand is a beacon of strength. A villain yet not only is she strong, she can fight and for once a lady who does not have the wide eyed doe look. She had men eating out of her hand. By far the best female character.

I thought Lee Jung Jae was amazing but in the end, Song Kang Ho stole the show. I love them both but I have watched quite a lot of movies with Lee Jung Jae and he is steadily rising up the ranks.
