yes I’ve also explained this here many times to the confused myself. We know. however they filmed a lot that they cut out and they absolutely had the material for at least a few more episodes. they simply decided to edit it down.

yes we know it was all filmed as one and the rule didn’t even exist when they filmed.
I think what some of us are struggling with is they filmed a lot more and edited it out. So what they DID film was cut down a lot. And that’s where the frustration is.
In reality, this is one of those rare times when the drama you're watching could and should have been longer.

and the way he tried to attribute all the things Jing did to Fenglong. Fenglong literally did everything JING told him to do. Fenglong is no mastermind. Every move to get CX on the throne was JING & even XY by going after the uncles at court during the assisaination framing, maneuvering CX into place. CX is well aware that he needed Jings help as evidenced by his pushing XY toward Jing for his own needs. Both FL and CX knew they were f****ed when Jing was in his coma and the two ungratefuls first thought when he woke up was he could now save them. And CX has the nerve to crap on JING. He may not have known EVERYTHING Jing did but he knew more than enough.

it a way it reminds me of The Rise of the Phoenix. Which was a masterpiece for like 75% of the season and then got butchered toward the very end. And this butchering is still nowhere as bad as that was.
