First impression: boring. KSH's character is full of cliches. For many years, female leads where always portrayed as weak, sweet and always depending on the man. Now we always have the opposite: the strong, hardworking girl (most of the times she is funny/quirky too). The girl that confronts the male lead if he has a difficult character, etc, etc. Unfortunately, the interesting characters, the original and unique female leads are rare (I could mention a few though). And YDJ... well, it seems that the male lead that behaves like a jerk but that will be "changed" by love is pretty hard to remove because we keep getting the same thing with little differences.
I need to lower the score of my favorites dramas after this because this is the real 10 for me. If we talk about romance genre, I actually think this drama was absolutely perfect. I've sincerely enjoyed many kdrama love stories but, to be honest, BTIMFL is something else... it really reached my heart. Beautiful, creative, surprising, honest, relatable... amazing narrative and the most endearing cast. So, I loved it so much that I'm now a fan of the writer and I also fell under Minki's spell irremediably LOL
I only like the 'new' Ji Soo insofar as how she's treating her birth mother. She's actually NOT being 'new', BTW.…
Yes, you're right. Very good analysis. But I still find more realistic other weekend dramas I've watched. It doesn't mean this one is bad or unrealistic. It's just my opinion and my taste probably. And, to be honest, I think that the main point here is that, personally, I can't empathize with Ji An's character so much. It's not the actress because I loved her in "Five Enough"... it's just the character I find annoying. Anyway, it's always nice to exchange opinions with people like you that are polite and reasonable :)
I'm tired of Ji An being all mother Theresa. Sacrifice after sacrifice... now she tries to kill herself? What is she? A martyr? I thought she was supposed to be intelligent. I know this is a drama and they need to suffer a lot and all that but it's getting out of control and it's not so real. This problem can be fixed. The only thing that can't be fixed is death! Also, I like the new Ji Soo. Actually, I liked the character from the beginning because she is supposed to be the antithesis of her sister for the story to make sense. So this is an interesting development but also expected.
Ep 12: the end of the kiss, Ji Ho's thoughts when she is in the bus back home, Se Hee's chat with Won Seok, Su Ji's new business idea, Ho Rang and WS's sadness... everything in this episode was awesome. I need to watch other dramas of this writer because I absolutely LOVE him!
Writers in this drama are really THE BEST. It'll take too much time to praise all the great things about the story, scenes, characters, etc. and, unfortunately, I have to work LOL So, I'll just say that everybody should watch this! It's awesome.
I'm so pissed at this new plot twist of Se Hee being formally married. it literally changes everything. Please…
Well, actually, he was not married. That was a registration form but it seems it was never submitted. Anyway, I understand how you feel but remember so far writers have been wonderful using cliched scenarios (contract marriage, jealousy bringing up emotions, etc) in a unique and original way so... I don't think we'll be disappointed :)
Is this drama good?I have a hard time watching anything with Lee Min-ki these days after his sexual assault scandal.
The drama is absolutely GREAT. Now... about the scandal you talk about, I don't believe it to be true. I'm not going to say every celeb acussed of this type of scandal is innocent but I also consider the fact that this industry may be so toxic sometimes that many famous people end up being the victim of fabrications and lies to get money from them. Both scenarios are, unfortunately, very common in the business. So, in this case, according to the information I read, I think Minki is innocent. Of course, that's just my opinion. Anyway... you need to make up YOUR own mind about it if it matters to you when choosing what to watch ;)
Episode 5 and 6. About this whole messed up situation involving our main couple... just 2 things:
1. I agree with many of the points of view of the comments below. Actually, I think all of us look at the situation in a similar way. Agree with "private vs public relationship", "antisocial needs time", "renaming the cat was too much" hahaha. etc, etc.
2. Is it just me or the sexual tension between these two is rising really fast? (even though they don't realize yet that's what they're feeling). I think the portrayals of SoMin and Minki are on point in this aspect! They are really good at "speaking" with their eyes too ;)
