Episode 1. First impressions. As someone who has read and loved the novel, WTF does episode 1 have to do with the novel? umm, nothing? So I guess this is another drama that I need to try and pretend I never read the novel and try to forget everything! Damn. the novel was so good. Especially the very beginning! It's a shame, they turned the novel's strong, sly, conniving, planning, thinking, intelligent FL into a victim in the drama once again. đ˘How very disappointing. I guess that means she also hasn't been trained since birth in the art of seduction either. Which means all of the wonderful push/pull between FL and ML is gone from the story. Damn The ML seems to be ratcheted up a notch from his novel counterpart to be even more đ¤Źruthless. Oh ok. 20 minutes into the episode and we are finally getting to something that was in the novel. Let's see how far they take it! đ Well damn, they completed fucked up the brothel scene. Once again, why? Seriously, why bother saying you are adapting a novel and then completely change the story. Just call it an original story that coincidently has some characters with the same name. Trying to purge my brain of the novel so I can enjoy this cause damn, the ML and FL are fire together!
I remember seeing her in the painted skin part of Strange Tales from Liao Zhai (2005) a long time ago, and I thought she was sooo pretty. When I saw her on-screen again in recent dramas, I immediately recognize her face. She is very beautiful and classic beauty.
This actress is in so many dramas I watch and she kills her role every time. Ive seen her be a nice mom, a mean mom, an empress, a concubine, even a demon lord, and she always pulls it off. Watching her grieve in the legend of shen li right now and I am just so impressed by her range.
Need some Tang Dynasty knowledge here. Why do they call a woman âXian Shengâ? Like Pingâan calling Kong…
Tang dynasty was very open and egalitarian towards women. So very educated women from renown poets, medical practitioners respected for their knowledge or professions are addressed as ĺ ç (xiÄn sheng) or in this context, teacher. In later dynasties it became an honorific used almost exclusively for men.
Shouldn't the title be "The first night with the prince"?
The people who pick the English title translations are usually on crack lol Why else would "Goblin" (the literal name of the drama) be called "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God?" in English?
The literal translation of the Korean for this drama would be "I Took the Male Protagonist's First Night" â not "The First Night With the Duke"

They drilled nail holes in some wooden pillars to hang props. The holes seem very small (as expected from nail holes) but since the building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it became a huge issue.
Hey, just a heads-up for anyone watching this drama, there's been a serious controversy during filming. The First…
Right at the start of the first episode they mention it so it does not seem like they are trying to hide it.
From the pictures I have seen I would barely call it damage, but being a building that is supposed to be preserved I understand how even this small amount of damage could be a problem. At least this whole situation served the purpose of creating stricter guidelines for future filming. Hopefully these new guidelines will prevent similar issues from happening.
