I have been watching Korean drama and movies since 2012 and have learned a bit Korean. I have also watched Chinese…
I hear you. I've been watching Korean tv for about 15 years, and it can be distracting when the subtitles don't quite match. However, in this case, the subtitles match the English dubbing, so I'm pretty sure the changes were not completely without reason, but probably made to make the length of the sentences match lip-movements slightly better. I wouldn't say the translations were completely inaccurate (just somewhat paraphrased at times), but yeah, it's frustrating that Disney is apparently so desperate to save money that they couldn't hire someone to do proper subtitles, instead of just reusing their dubbing-script.

Disney translators like treating their tasks like they are performing interpretive dance… maddening to a point where I turn their subs off entirely (but I’ve watched, had convos with loads of Koreans, and translated/edited translations for shows before Viki put paywalls up and I bailed, so I don’t need translations often unless it is stuff I have no interest in learning like legal jargon that I’ll forget since it isn’t stuff that I think about outside programs).

This is a very good and high quality drama. Not the usual Kdrama, and that might explain the relative low rating.Of…
They’re like school grades, basically… anything under a 7 here is considered a “failure” by the mostly young (mostly female, too, so thrillers, business oriented shows, and other “masculine” content fare worse, “masculine” loosely used to point to what appeals to male vs female viewers overall [as a female lover of dark comedy and psych thrillers with male friends who are romcom lovers and every variation in between]). This will do pretty well unless the writing goes downhill because the cast are top of their game/top demand actors, but most with political intrigue hover in the 7s which is C/C-/D territory depending on the rater. I just modified my IMDB scores for here to match the young school grade scale from people in or recently graduated from school. Modern kids like when things are graded on a curve. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Nothing young or modern about me, but I’ve taught enough courses with both grading styles to be flexible.

Well the joke's on him, because even he-dubber-didn't sound Chinese. I didn't even realise there was dubbing; I thought it was just the actors muttering gibberish, with one Madarin word thrown in here and there. The producers should realise that kdrama viewers also watch cdramas and are very versed in the tone of both languages. Finally, the dubber making fun of a foreigner over language isn't very bright is he? Has he thought about how he would sound if he tried to speak Korean?

Kang Dong Won doesn't need dramaland, Jun Ji Hyun neither. They play in another league.

This is so GOOD 🔥🤌I love the chemistry between the leads, I can feel the angsty romance from a mile 😍

I recognise so many American actors, that's so cool hehe 😎And they play naturally, not like the VIPs from "Squid Game" ughhhh

Person Ni Ni
One of the most underrated actresses. I wish she would do more dramas
While I understand why some might *feel* Ni Ni is underrated—especially if they’re outside China—the data and industry recognition tell a different story. She’s actually one of China’s most celebrated actresses:

- Award-Winning Talent:
Debuted in Zhang Yimou’s *The Flowers of War* (2011), winning Best New Performer at the Asian Film Awards, and recently took home the Golden Deer Award (2023) for *Lost in the Stars*.

- Box Office Dominance:
Her films gross massively (*Lost in the Stars* earned **¥3.5B/$483M** in 2023).

- Global Influence:
A Gucci ambassador since 2017 and face of Lancôme/Tiffany & Co.—brands that only partner with top-tier stars.
- Critical Acclaim: Lead roles in hits like *The Rise of Phoenixes* (Douban 8.1) and consistent award nominations (Golden Rooster, Magnolia).

Her work isn’t ‘underrated’; it’s **highly respected within China and increasingly recognized worldwide**. If anything, she’s proof that talent + hustle *does* get its due! 🙌

Concerning dramas, it's a personal choice, she works on movies much more than dramas. Good news, two dramas of her were confirmed today in Tencent Conference, so I am looking forward to watch them when they will come out.

im glad the barely 20 year old character was actually taken seriously. her self awareness and breaks in characters were so good but even more tragic. i thought she was going to be passed of a comedic character with no acknowledgement of how messed up her situation was, but then seeing what happened and how the characters felt immense sadness and guilt was bittersweet. i was worried throughout the whole show it was just going to be comedy of women in the industry and men being sleazy, which it was but in a way that was actually satirical, it criticised its concepts, chracters and it was really aware of the harms.

it couldve been developed more and had more episodes to truly flesh out its concepts. not a perfect kdrama, but it was clear the writer was someone who cared and i really appreciate that.
