I've seen people harping that it's another typical aloof male lead but he's extremely indulgent of Yan Dan imo.
Before he went to war he told her he wanted her to be free and have fun. He lets her tell all sorts of long winded stories and is amused by them. Hell, he even marked her play and literally let's her fight/get back at him all the time. Are they (MLs) usually like this or they're more cold?

Yeah I find it hard to understand why anyone thinks the Mortal Realm is boring. But to be fair there are dramas that people love that I bore me so much I can't have them on even when I'm on the treadmill (danger of zoning out and falling off treadmill).
I love their interactions! It's like a freaking rom com. Don't get me wrong, a bit of cliff hurling certainly gets the heart racing but I'm enjoying Beautiful Bai's shamelessness and TZ's flirty frustration right now.

There was (what I believe) is a long span of time where she nursed him back to health. They basically lived together all that time, everyday. There was a lot of bonding during that time.
It was as if they had a love affair during that time. The only thing missing was consummating the relationship.

Imagine that it's set sometime after they were more familiar with each other but still at odds! Definitely before all the angst happened to them! I loved the early episodes where she would engage in war fare with him but they were fond of each other.

That bracelet scene where Yan Dan is like “You’re a spirit catcher and I’m a little spirit” she had the funniest, most shameless look on her face!!! I laughed so much. She’s such an unabashed “Beautiful Bai” and she’s so natural at it.

I love how quick witted YD is! I love that she's ditzy but super scrappy and very intelligent once you get past her bubbly, shenanigans.
Her commitment to script writing cracks me up as a writer of fanfic myself!
Adore the acting!!!!! Plenty of smitten looks but I find some of the gestures priceless like when they fall into that tomb, TZ hugs her to avoid the bats, then you see him give YD this hearty slap on the back to stop her from carrying on dramatically. It's the little touches that really seal the deal for me. ML is a very good actor who is not worried about whether his good looks are being captured on screen (I have this huge issue with various male leads usually, waaay to self conscious).

I had seen pictures and clips of Yang Zi before and always thought she was adorable but never watched a full drama with her in it.
I'm not well versed on any of the stars so no idea who Cheng Yi was but he's such a strong actor.
