Also forgot to say that tbh I wanted it to be more of a love stories thing and an actual ROMcom (closer to 10 Things I Hate About You and MamaGoGo), less Only Friends vibe of everyone manipulating and betraying everyone, but you can’t always get what you want, it’s ok. For me now that they turned Style into second Kant and possibly Fadel into also yet another manipulation for manipulation (if my eyes and some theories are correct), it really reminds me of the OF atmosphere rather than any romance. Many might like it, but I’m not a fan of such development tbh. My hope was that so it would be very far from OF vibes. Yet the atmosphere feels closer to the everyone scheming and being full of themselves than the romantic one.
I’ve seen ppl already saying how god forbid they make Fadel a hopeless romantic the way he was in the novel bc it’s “too unrealistic”. (As if all this killers shananigans are very realistically done lol). But I honestly do not get what would be wrong if they made them as romantic as in the novel. Shucks. To each their own though, I get it. I lose here, I will go cry in the corner, bc I don’t think I will recover from the personal disappointment of never ever getting that Style finding out that the love of his life is a killer scene. I will complain about it to everyone until the pain goes away.
I understand tho that many ppl like OF and these kinds of things which they call “more realistic”, but my reality is really different and as someone who gets off on feelings, it’s sad for me that I don’t feel any warmth blooming here. Bc you gotta agree that the novel’s feeling of Style making this bet, then falling madly in love, his regret and that culmination of him finding out about Fadel that’s a romcom vibe. But Style making that bet, being proud of himself that he made Fadel fall for him, finding out that he’s a killer and deciding to play him again… that’s already a whole another tone. I’m probably bad at explaining but it’s more of “Cruel Intentions” vibes for now (also a bet about seducing someone and a bet on a car too lol, but that movie has quite cold vibes while “10 things I hate about you” is warm for example, it’s just different vibes). Like MamaGo has warm vibes, OF has cold vibes. Does anyone get me? lol
And I just remember how I was so happy after reading it bc I thought “oh it’s gonna be this type of show but now it’s not and it’s not anyone’s fault, but like I personally wish the vibe was different lol And I still feel that making two different genres of stories was very deceiving. Bc many ppl who prefer less romantic genre don’t like highly romantic genre and vice versa. They should’ve kept it same imo. OF is just not my type of show, so anything with its vibes is turning me off. At least if I knew I’d prepare myself for this better and had other expectations. If Fadel is gonna join the scheming squad, I’ll cry tbh. It just doesn’t suit him imo. OF lovers would win tho for sure. So congrats to those who love these types of shows. So far it feels like you’re gonna win this one.
I agree with you sm I read the novel bfore heart killers released and I'm disappointed on how they're doing the…
Same :((( their dynamics is so epic in the novel, I have a feeling that they’re just too much, so they decided that they would steal the show if they will be that way. So freaking mad about Style finding out about Fadel right now and in such lameass way :((( the scene is so dull.
it was also so fun that in the book there was like a proud hoe, a slutty virgin, a period movie romantic who can’t do sex no love, etc etc. here its like… not that fun for me. And what I definitely don’t wanna see is the dynamics of Joong chasing after Dunk who shies away from him again. The moment of them getting together was anticlimactic as it is and now we have Style running away from him, while mushy Fadel is being mooshy. Damn, will we really not see that scene of first time he cried too? I really don’t get why they hate intense things. Lukewarm is the new fad for sure. 100% we’re not getting the pointing the gun and Style crying in his arms “how dare you threaten me, don’t ever leave me” scene 😭😭😭 I so wanted all that!!! They’re so so epic there, my heart jumped so freaking much and here it’s like., blah
All I can say is poor fans of the series who are going to buy a novel and poor fans who read the novel first and got that in terms of relationships.
That’s a personal opinion, but I think it was a mistake to turn everyone’s relationship in the same direction. Now Style is same as Kant and also knows the truth and plays with Fadel’s heart. Now he also same as Kant is afraid of Fadel. Why we need two of those idk. I truly think it’d be a much better idea if we same as in the book had different things going on and FadelStyle would be different. Fadel didn’t have to be same as Bison and be ok with one night stands. I think it was super fun how he got obsessed with Style and couldn’t get enough of him the first time they slept together and how Style was super in love with him and needy. Now it’s the zzzz dynamics of “I’m fine with getting myself off” and Style is scared of him being close? Nah.
Reading a book was a total mistake on my part. Bc then you expected all those long awaited epic FadelStyle get together that was on fire and that fire moment of Style finding out that he is an assassin, which is again so anticlimactic and boring here. Why did they make a novel so different idk. First time I’m seeing this happening with GMM’s original shows/books. Like it’s an original thing dude, write it the same way. Why the hell would you sell ppl thing that basically has nothing to do with the show. It’s not like it’s an adaptation of an author’s story written way before. Tsk. How to clear my head and watch it without what I’ve read. It’s like everything is so toned down here. So far I can see a lot of comedy and having fun watching this, but the intensity is just not there for me.
Saw a lot of ppl be like “I can’t wait for this moment where Fadel goes after Style bc he misses him so much” ahahahaha joke is on us tf did we read this. Waiting for the epic moment when Style finds out that Fadel is a killer? LMAO nah again just joking
it’s true that he hates being attracted to him and doesn’t want it to be like that, but the whole point is that he still IS and there’s nothing he can do about, hence the disappointment with himself when he jerked off to him, he considers it a weakness, but can’t fight it. same was when in this episode he watched him undress in the kitchen, he was clearly drooling and was surprised with his own reaction. I won’t spoil anything from the book but that part was the same aka he couldn’t fight it and hated himself for this. HE COULDNT fight it. Bc once you want someone you can’t just turn this off. That’s what Style did to him. Not seeing the building up and the fact that he wants him is wild to me, but I guess we all watch differently.
Again as I’ve written below even if I watch this scene from your point of view aka he somehow magically pretended he was on another planet and not with his dick inside of the person he really wanted, then all that kissing was out of place. If he wanted so badly to make him go away, he should’ve just as you said coldly f*ck and go, but the scene was just weirdly done imo. It wasn’t reflecting even what you’re saying either.
That’s fine, I just again after reading expected super intensity and again I’m in the same place I’m usually in lol I hope it’ll change, but with this development it’s kinda impossible to return to that climactic point, that was in the book the fact that he got so insane he couldn’t NOT fuck him. Here the climax is lost so far (no pun intended lol)
That's what I thought at first, but I don't think he snapped yet. I also think him sleeping with Style was an…
lovey-dovey at this point would be weird yeah, but again where is fadel who wanted his so much from before? he magically turned it off? you can be hot for someone without having feelings. style not really being that much into it I get at least. the whole scene was a weird choice imo. and if they wanted so badly to do it like “no feelings, just I’ll do him so he would get away from me” why he kissed him so much then. just turn him around and f*ck him then. it was just no this no that. it was just.. weird.
they could’ve had such an amazing explosion after this build up but yet again it’s the classic deflated balloon so far, but okay, I’ll wait for the next episode to see what is the idea of that.
it’s been shown already how much he wanted him in the sauna, when he jerked off to his body (which was super intensely and beautifully done) and in this episode when he watched him change. so I don’t see how it’s “no lust, no passion”. I’m saying this with all my love really, bc I love their story a lot, but that was just weird. the building up was that he wanted him a LOT. I understand that the show and the book are gonna be different. but I meant the build up in the SHOW was that he wanted him a lot.
That's what I thought at first, but I don't think he snapped yet. I also think him sleeping with Style was an…
they’ve had such magical build up the last episode, you could feel his frustration and want from mile away, in the beginning of this episode too and their sex scene just do not match all the previous narration in my opinion. In the book it made more sense, since you can’t both want someone so badly and sleep with them indifferently. it’s either first or second. understandable the lack of feelings, but the lack of passion isn’t. that’s just my opinion. the build up was just stomped on, I hate anticlimactic stuff that’s all
But.. but the coolest part of the story was that Fadel got to the point of wanting Style so much that he snapped, I do not get what’s the point of changing it to something so anticlimactic and lukewarm. I’m not gonna give up or be disappointed in advance, but I really do not get this decision personally. These two were the most romantic part of this whole thing. I really start to think that ppl just hate emotional rollercoasters, like do you really have to dull everything down when it comes to relationships? I mean it’s not like the plot of this is gonna be super epic either (if you know). I really hope I’m wrong and they know what they’re doing, bc if they can’t deliver in the relationships aspect then it’s gonna be a bummer tbh. Hopefully it will somehow rule out into the fire they’re supposed to be. That ending was meh to me. Don’t shoot me.
Ohmleng are super hot as usual, but Mix and Leng’s encounter with them being petty bitches was just chefs kiss lmfao the way he walked off 🤣 love them. Never thought I’d get EM with OL in such show together
you described perfectly why i love series like kidnap or we are even when the plot is weak or they are character…
Yes, I always say the biggest tragedy is when the series doesn’t know what it is supposed to be. In this case nothing will help you. And even some basic series can outdo you if it does know what it is and hits the points that viewers love.
But I like many different genres, and when I sat to watch J&J my thoughts were that honestly I would be happy with whatever: from action drama to action comedy to romantic comedy with bits of action to melodrama, just pick something CONSISTENT, so it wouldn’t be like “I don’t get whether it’s fish or chicken or ice cream with mac and cheese” 💀 it’s like a lot of different cloth pieces that can’t even make one decent blanket bc they’re all different sizes and do not fit together. First episodes were set up for me to care about two main leads, but then suddenly it’s about a bunch of random people they want me to care about while they simultaneously destroy the possibly of me liking the main lead with the most ridiculous plot twist from 90s and idk how to sympathize the character who steps in the same pile of shit several times, instead of actually try to walk around it maybe lol. That’s not grey, that’s just dumb. You’re supposed to feel sympathy for the main character and I can’t care for anyone who is written like this.
And Imo the worst turn you can do is make the viewer dislike the character due to some twist. That’s the worst. Morally grey characters usually become more attractive to people for many reasons (mainly also bc we’re all people), but you gotta be careful still, bc for example if you wrote the main character walking on the street and kicking a kitten while he’s upset its not grey it’s just instant despise from most, so like choose wisely not to turn ppl away from the main character. Famous person once said there’s a difference between “flawed “ and “unlikable”. Even some villains sometimes are attractive or empathetic to viewers depending on how you write and present them, but there’s nothing worse than people finding a character “unlikable”. That’s the fail you can’t overcome. It’s game over. Even hated character is better than unlikable.
And there is not even any deep meaning here, they’re trying, but it’s just not there. And I hate when it happens. If I had to pick between the series that is trying to be deep and pander to social problems while it clearly can’t and it turns out absurd and the one who doesn’t try it and just entertains ofc I’ll pick the last option. Just because you either go full in and dedicate yourself to this or you just do not try pls.
I also like you prefer escapism to realism personally bc life is f*cked up as it is idc that much about watching tragedy on screen that ends in tragedy with biography themes, but at times I do love realism if the mood strikes (and it has HE). But here they can’t deliver on that either. It’s not doing justice nor to political situation, nor to humor nor to the romance nor to action AND I dislike the character now? I feel like someone offered me a peach dipped in mayo and suggested to wash it down with hot chocolate with vinegar and was like “yeah actually it’s 8.9, Michelin stars meal” 🤡 I still see that it’s a peach dipped in mayo tho
No, but in all seriousness Kidnap combined all the tropes from the best fics that I love and shoved it in my face with amazing chemistry 🫠
Oh yeah also about OSTs besides being awesome, can we also discuss the video content in those?? It’s so freaking delicious, these two know what they’re doing 💯💯💯
you described perfectly why i love series like kidnap or we are even when the plot is weak or they are character…
I’m sorry in advance for saying this, but I hate We Are, it’s just that it’s awful writing and non-existent characters (characters are super important to me) and romance was not my type of romance, plus assembly mess is just not my thing along with this director’s views on relationships and never-ending loop of the same thing. I respect all the tastes tho. It was my fault for tuning in bc I in advance knew that it wasn’t my thing. I can admit that it was exactly what it was advertised as, so those who love such shows probably were satisfied.
Kidnap tho oh Kidnap is my fucking jam right now. It promised romance, it freaking delivered. Only one couple focus (that’s my favorite), characters are actually interesting, complex and lovable. The epic dumbass romance novel passionate kiss and “I will die for you” that’s my favourite 😍😍😍 and btw Ohm’s fights are top notch there, which is a bonus. Like that’s what I want, even tho the action plot is kinda silly too, it’s still there and it enhances the romantic part, which is hella romantic 👌🏻
It’s just here I personally I do not understand what is it supposed to be. It’s not high-quality exciting action, it’s not elaborate plot, it’s definitely not a romance. You gotta be good at at least something. And for real there’s nothing I hate more than when they insert so many characters to the point where you don’t even know who is main anymore. It’s called “Jack&Joker” after all. They needed maybe to call it “JJ’s gang “ or something then idk.
Also I think ppl are truly interesting sometimes when they have blinders on, but it has SO MANY outdated unfunny stuff, like top/bottom bleeding during sex jokes. And I’m like… I feel like it would be already bashed if it was in some… certain company production or with unknown actors. Same with out of place garnier commercial and toilet humor in almost every episode. But here it’s suddenly we do not see it 😂
And I’m saying it as a Yinwar fanatic, who was (if anyone remembers from my first comments) extremely excited about the whole thing.
my rule is like: I can take any silly dumbass angst twist/turn as long as you deliver on the romance part for me. if you don’t deliver, then you lose your rights to make such turns, I’m sorry 😂 that is my rule
I do not mind if the quality plot have little romance (it’s not my fav, but I can accept when I have the mood), but if we’re stepping on the silly BL tropes territory AND it has little romance I’m already like.. why am I here lol
the sad part for me is like that the acting is so so good :( I wanted this show to be my thing, but it’s already ep8 and I wasn’t really on the same train as all people here adoring it before this episode plotwise, but now I’m already off the rails completely. marriage is waaay over the top silly, but hope don’t die, maybe they magically (only magic atp) deliver on relationship part somehow. idk.
my fav thing is great plot + great romance that’s ideal. plot with little romance and romance with little plot I can accept sometimes if the plot is very good or romance is very good, but no good plot no good romance is where I draw the line lol you gotta have at least one, at least one pls
I’m all for the criticism, in fact I’m the king of criticism, but sometimes I feel like on MDL people who are criticising aren’t watching the show they’re criticising and just throw some common repetitive stuff here even tho it doesn’t make any sense.
“it’s the same basic thing we’ve seen hundred times” where? where have we seen a guy kidnapping the future love of his life to get money for his brother’s surgery, falling in love with him and having an existential crisis bc he’s ready to die for him and actually considers putting the life of his beloved brother who is his world in danger bc he’s in love. A son of a cop whose dad is disappointed in him and puts duty over his safety, who is having a severe PTSD after his mom’s death during kidnapping and falls in love when he yet again kidnapped?? I’ve watched about 1000 BLs from all the countries in the world, I do not remember such plot.
“gmm doesn’t have a courage to write morally gray characters” so a guy kidnapping someone to save his brother’s life and then mentally destroying someone he loves bc of life obstacles is white to you? or is it black? 😂 Min really is the definition of gray right now.
“the story is typical extreme vanilla” I wish I could see it like that honestly, but besides MinQ being a true melting delicious ice-cream chemistry together, none of this is vanilla. The part when your mom died on your hands and your whole life you’re being kidnapped and tortured which enhances your PTSD no one gives a f*ck about is vanilla? Or the fact that his love just chose to mentally destroy him after giving him hope that he might just finally be safe and loved by saying that in fact no sane person would agree to this right after he called himself a plague?
I know vanilla beans are sometimes bitter, maybe that’s what you mean.
Also stuff like “how someone gets away from three guys in a car?” Idk guys, how James Bond escapes from 100 people shooting at him without any injuries and then shoots all 100 of them with 5 bullets? are we watching fictional action or are we watching a documentary here? go sit with ppl who are still bitching about joker’s tattoos. is it THAT important to you in unserious fictional action?
But at least many rightfully admit that it’s not what they thought it would be. I’m ready to bet 100$ that no one who’s watching could’ve guess that Min would do that. And for the first time it’s not bc it’s illogical, it’s freaking bc we’re upset, but we GET IT, but we SUPER UPSET WITH HIM, but at the same time WE GET IT. And it’s a war in mind, bc there is no right answer tbh. It’s bad what he did, but isn’t putting Mhen in a situation Q’s dad put Q in by giving him no chance to live a normal life is fair??? NO. it’s his little brother who his whole life was his everything. So you sit and think about while being mad.
And Q is one of the most precious characters lately. Both are actually so interesting and complex and none of it is black and white.
Like there are a lot of things to critique in this one and to laugh about 100%, but just not what someone wrote here. I really miss reviews and discussions from people who are actually watching, not the “I hate GMM” and “Thai BL sucks” ones. Or those “go watch Korean and Japanese, here is no depth”. The amount of comments about the actual shows are really rare these days. It’s mostly some sheets about some general things about Thai bl that people repeat in every comment section, even when thing clearly stands out. I get that for character analysis you go to besties, tumblr or Reddit, but honestly I miss times when comments were interesting and you could actually have fun discussing on air shows with both who likes and dislikes it and argue who is right and who is wrong.
When you do something completely new it’s not lazy. You can hate it and dislike the turn of events (like me with Trainee), but lazy it’s not. Lazy is when you put 4 pairings in one university show and they don’t even have any character in them, it’s really just all that you’ve seen before but all are cheering bc it’s a lot of familiar faces shoved in one square meter. But let’s not call something different lazy at least. You can dislike it yes, but valid points please. Like we get it Thai BL isn’t your thing, you prefer Western, Korean and Japanese. Maybe it’s just not your type and you don’t get the culture, like some do not get Indian films. If you are unsatisfied with ALL of the Thai BLs CONSTANTLY, consider that maybe it’s not a bad script maybe its just not your thing. Truly, it can be that.
Also can someone pls explain, bc I can’t afford not understanding a GMM show, I’m scared for my brain activity 😂 if Q truly believed what Min said about the fact that he can’t risk his brother’s life like that, Q would never come back and invaded their family like that. Right?? Right? After his mom’s death I truly don’t believe he would do that after Min’s words.
He got the idea of coming back and finding him after he had a flashback about Min saying how he would push him away if he would be in danger for his safety. And what’s with the talk of “he can’t love anybody until he loves himself, so here’s the plan…” The plan was to fully mentally destroy him? The plan was for him to become selfish for once in his life and be like “I know I’m putting your lives in danger, but it’s not my fault and I have the right to have a family too even tho my dad is like this”??? This was the plan??
Bc if the point is that they’re both so selfishly in love that they can’t stay away despite the fact that innocent’s man life in between is involved is kinda funny. I’m sorry, Mhen, in this case, I will probably stan them.
I would go off about how much I adore ohmleng’s chemistry, but while I’m in my angsty state I gotta say despite seemingly unserious plot, the more I think about it, the sadder it gets.
I’ve always had a very strong opinion that if you’re a cop and you want to take extra super dangerous cases with no regards for your life, you are prohibited to have a kid. A partner, yes, if they’re okay with your lifestyle bc you’re both adults and it’s your own decision. But giving life to a kid and giving him no option but to live in constant danger is wild to me. Being okay with the fact that your kid is constantly being kidnapped/tortured and living in some safe houses (not gmm ones lmao) his whole life?? Absolute insanity.
And the fact that he didn’t even give him proper care after his mom’s horrible death and his near death experience and just dgaf that he has full on panic attacks each night, makes me want to cry. The fact that Q grew up so wonderful is some sorcery. That he’s still willing to open up his heart after this is and even is gonna fight for his love HIMSELF after what happened in THIS episode? I can’t even begin to say how impressed I am with the dude.
And how he shakes everything off and smiles after all of his near death experiences even though clearly he’s not okay, I find it hard to watch. He’s laughing in the hospital and I’m nearly crying. They made it like kinda a “romantic novel” seriousness, not like reality serious, but then I actually think about the situation and this shit is so freaking sad. Like I honestly do not know how much love he needs Min to give him to heal all that. Seems impossible to me, but surprise me.
I didn’t like how they treated him at all in this episode. He fought really hard, he tried to keep Mhen safe and all he got for this is like “trololo sike actually you’re not part of the family, I didn’t think reality would be this harsh, on words it was good, but your dad is right, you need to go”. I know the goal was to push him away, but damn that’s extra painful.
Anyways Q is MVP of the show. I can feel that he’s going to become one of my faves.
About Min… something is not adding up. To me he doesn’t seem like a person who would back down on his own words or who gets reality and movie confused and would be like “I didn’t expect the reality would be like this”. And why after knowing Q’s mom story, he’d trust his dad’s plan to keep Q safe? This makes no sense to me. Imo it clearly seemed like he knew very well what he’s signing up for.
Also poor Mhen, first “bc of him” Min started to do illegal stuff and kidnapping ppl, now he’s breaking up with Q “bc of him”. did he ask the man if he wants to be indirectly responsible for this? that would be really upsetting to me.
But.. BUT If they truly made the main “hero” back down on everything he said, that’d be really crazy lol. And I kinda like that it’s not the usual turn. I thought they would go the classic route and Q would say smth nasty to push him away to keep him safe, bc that’s how it usually goes. It’s kinda an interesting turn of events, now I’m curious even. I know Min would suck his face next ep as an apology on the road and something tells me there would be no repercussions bc Q is clearly way too deep. I know he lied, but I would still kick him in the nuts and I know he won’t.
I’m like you I was also expecting the hate part of the hate-love to last longer and the overall vibe to be darker…
Yeah, I don’t have anything against it, it might fit the storyline sometimes, but it’s just not my thing, I’m all about shameless ppl, this “blushing virgin” theme always annoyed me. I really love flirty and confident, so when they fought and Joke was taunting him by scratching his chin and belly, I was on the moon. I can’t deny that I’m disappointed with degradation. There’s nothing wrong with shy and cute, but that’s just not my type. Again it’s ok tho.
Shucks. Does anyone get me? lol

Here the climax is lost so far (no pun intended lol)
they could’ve had such an amazing explosion after this build up but yet again it’s the classic deflated balloon so far, but okay, I’ll wait for the next episode to see what is the idea of that.
