Thanks! If there is actually a sequel with all our favorite characters I would be over the moon. At least Joy of Life is filming its sequels so hopefully this one will pan out as well!

Thanks for the update! New fan here. I heard about blood of youth 2 but is that a sequel following the first story? I thought maybe it was a side story.
Tribes of empires also started fantastic but they messed up half way and destroyed it.
Sigh. I've read about Tribes and Empires extensively because I really wanted something to follow up Novoland Eagle flag. But it sounded like it was best to miss it entirely than always see "what should have been".
I love the title of your review! Yes indeed, Li Hong Yi is really fun to watch here. He can make his character look ridiculous and yet we don't judge him for it. Also I am liking Kira Shi's attitude so much more than a lot of flighty female leads.

There is no help for it but to re-watch. Some thoughts as I go: Though Xiao Se holds himself in complete poise at all times, it's clear that he's just as bad at directions as Wuji. Also, Li Hong Yi is gorgeous, huge props to the hair and makeup team for his character and everyone else, including Wu Xin.
I haven't watched the first one, but I'm excited to watch both seasons once 2 is out. It's usually extremely hard to accept a lead cast change. However, the time difference should make up for that because we are so used to seeing flashbacks to younger characters in dramas all the time. I remember how Yeo Jin Goo carried the opening episodes of both Warrier Baek Dong Soo and Moon Embracing the Sun, and I became a fan of his and the older actors in both series. This seems like a similar situation.
This drama is so exquisitely done and so high on my list that where do I go from here? The ones that are in any way similar in how much I'm attached to the main characters I've already seen: Sword Snow Stride, Heroes (though darker), Young Blood, and of course Alchemy of Souls. Maybe I should just give up watching wuxias for a while because I can't be satisfied. (I've already watched a bunch of Li Hong Yi's dramas since I"m a new fan of his.)
I love xianxia dramas for the fantasy aspects that it brings. Immortal Samsara starts out a bit slow but the story…
Thanks. I will still give it a try, it helps to know that there's a slow start. And yes I am very much looking forward to Mysterious Lotus Casebook because that looks like exactly my type of story!
I'm a huge fan of Cheng Yi but unfortunately I must be allergic to xianxia dramas. I can't think of one I finished and enjoyed (most I barely get through the first episode). So I barely got into the first episode here before the same old things start to bother me. This seems to come down to the concept of a heavenly kingdom itself versus mortals (just doesn't compute for me), the uber self-righteous good clans who are actually evil, the mistreatment of anyone not "human", and then how the mortal world always doesn't feel like a real place. (These may not all appear in Immortal Samsara, they are the commonalties I've noticed. )Is there any hope for me to enjoy this drama?
For the record, I adore Cheng Yi's Stand by Me, and wuxia dramas are by far my favorite because the character's personalities, the stakes of the story, the intelligence of the characters, and action are the most satisfactory.
This was super great, though it became darker than I would have expected from the first few episodes. Xiao Shi was truly a ray of light throughout the story and I really like characters like him. And as a fan of Liu Yu Ning - wow! What a role for him. I was so impressed. I liked all the supporting cast - so many interesting and unique people. With the writer of Novoland Eagle Flag and the director of Goodbye My Princess, this was top quality. I would like to see more heroes like Xiao Shi.
