This drama is special for some reason althought the cast for main leads does not follow standard images for conventional xianxia drama in China. As @Sharanya mentioned the storyline is acutally more complex than it looks at the first impression. Thus it requires more attention to detail to fully enjoy the beauty of the story. Zhou Dongyu and Xu Kai played their roles with multiple layers and distinctively across the arcs. And the visual effect (CGI) of this drama is stil one of the best among all C-dramas. Once you like it it's quite difficult to get out of the pit :D . Thus just give it a try for at least 10 eps. First arc : 1-16, 2nd arc: 16-37 and the last 37-49. The second arc is quite humorous

The moon in the demon clan was white or purple in the begining - that I don't know but if you watch the first 14 eps, the atmosphere in Demon realm was not as dark as it was in post-ancient time. His whip (name purple moon - Zi Yue) was the moon or embedded inside the moon. Keep in mind the divine weapon had it own huge power too (as Bai Jue's spear or Shang Gu's sword).
The land in demon realm had less spiritual essential element thus the cultivation for demon members would be more difficult than immortal. That is why Tianqi helped the demon members using his power via that way. And when he fought against Bai Jue in ep41, he must gain back his True God's power to match Bai Jue's level, thus he withdraw the power from demon clan via the moon then the whip and took it back.. He stopped nurturing the demon clan.

In The last immortal Purple moon was transformed into the place where captured devils. Thus it still existed. However, I don't recall any detail about purple moon in the sequel novels. Zi Yue Mountain, Zi Yue Lake was mentioned

I don't watch those dramas that you mention so I don't know if they are belongs to the same author for the book. I read 82 chapter of the book about Bai Shuo and its background story is well-connected with Shang Gu. The novel Bai Shuo used the same universal order with Three Realms and the God Realm. As you can see MM uses the story about discovery of 5 the desired idea/concepts, collecting them in the desireless stone as the motivation to drive the plot. This differ fundamentally from its novel. Development journey of Bai Shuo in the novel stemmed from her own desire. Chong Zhao accompanied Bai Shuo in the begining of the immortal cultivation. There is no tragedy in Bai Shuo's family. Bai Xi and her father lived well. They adopted the story in the Bizzare Fortress (Tian hua's home town) but that one was also changed. The past story in ancient time in MM is completely different, Chang Mei and Mu Jiu had no direct connection with Ling Long and Rong Xian's baby was killed by himself. So there is no plot in the Fox Clan in the book as depicted in the drama. Heavenly Palace where immortal seniors still existed in Bai Shuo's novel. Chong Zhao became demon by his own choice. And MM made Xing Yue the strongest god in the Ancient Time which was in charge of protecting the peace . One of the thing that I dislike is the Fate/the Absolute power had forbidden her to have normal emotion to be the strongest and take that duty. And when she loved Jing Yuan, the bow killed him.
