Unfortunately the way he acts now makes him look ugly.
They've always spoken that way to each other even as kids. It may appear rude, but these are friends who play rough with each other. Huazi used to always beat Xiangchi, does that mean she's abusive to him. She used to beat him more than the others, in fact Huazi used to hit all of them instead of talking. But, you don't call her abusive or rude. Also, they still see her as part of the boys and boys play quite rough. To me, its just them playing around. I have group of friends who play this way.

I don’t mind how he acts (it’s not surprising as this is his personality since childhood. It would have been odd if it was otherwise). People who are extremely ambitious and competitive like him are go getters. Go getters have a bit of coldness to them. All the extremely rich people are cold to some extent. If not they won’t be that wealthy. It’s literally amassing extreme wealth/ achievement at the expense of someone/something. 🤭
I fear this drama will go down the terrible ending path (rushed and not properly wrapped up). 8 episodes left and the drama hasn’t addressed most of the central plot and power play and focusing on that annoying MinYue princess.
I am on episode 5. Do historical dramas always have so much domestic violence? I know there are hints or brief…
People like him truly exist even in those days. And even in modern day. There are so many psychopaths and they’re worse if they’re powerful, wealthy and influential. , just like in this drama . Just look around you in society and the world.
