Tunan has always be shown to be naive in things about life and someone without a backbone. I mean he watched has his mother and sister were abused by his grandparents. His mother will cook and they make her and his sister sit outside to eat. They will insult her and he won’t say a thing. Even when he became older it was same. Unlike his cousin, sister, and Dongzhe. Even Dongzhe pointed it out to his sister. So, it’s not surprising he acts that way.
But, he will later let out all the anger he has piled in his heart on her. Only then could they move forward.
It’s not surprising he didn’t date any other person (he was set up with other women too), he’s a dork.
But, I do agree the drama kind of exaggerated that he waited for her all along. On the other hand she did break his heart. People whose first attempt at dating and they get dumped can cause reclusion.
It’s not that the other person left, or that she had no option. She realised her heart always lied with Tunan. The other person was because of all the pressure of her parents to get someone with Shanghai residency (Hukou).
If it was possible to give this show more than 10 on MDL, I would. I cannot describe how good this show is. From the casting, the story, the visuals, direction and cinematography, everything was well made.
