What in the butchering just happened! A once so good drama became chaotic arrhgghhh! I can’t trust Chinese dramas that a long anymore. They butcher it from mid-way. I was trying to be hopeful they would spare this one. So sad.

I don’t even like to watch crime dramas, let alone a Chinese one. But, this drama is so good. So, high quality and with great actors.
I’m so proud of China for making this masterpiece. This is what most of their dramas should be aiming for. Not selling just pretty faces all the time with no real content.
It’s even more amazing that it’s not a conventional story and yet can entertain and hold attention.

Ah, Tong Yao! I will take a look at this for her.

This is truly a gem. I was sceptical about all the glowing reviews. Half way into Ep.1, I was rolling my eyes. But, after I finished it, wow! I was hooked. I’m glad I stuck out the first episode. Please they shouldn’t ruin it like Court Lady . This is a shorter series so I’m hopeful it will go well and no plot fillers or dragging.

Exactly! It’s like the writer also forgot the free access token the Empress gave her, to leave and enter the palace at will. She could have gone out since to visit and explain things to Chumu. The writer’s brain must have turned upside down mid-way into the drama SMH!

But it’s so obvious concubine Yan isn’t nice. Her religiousness is a front. You have to pay close attention and read in between the lines to see.
In fact what I love about this drama is that the power tussle in the palace isn’t overt. The real evil planners aren’t the brat Liang Wang, Grand Emperor or Crown Prince or Empress even, these you can predict their behaviour and what drives the.. But the ones who appear carefree and peaceful.

Exactly! Then she kept saying how good he is to her. I mean, girl! This man used to slapped you and yell at you until he slept with you. They wrote her character to be so stupid.

I meant what is her current role in this drama. I can’t place the face from the cast list. What role is she in now. I know of Wu Zetian. I watched part of Empress of China.

Yep! You got most C-dramas right. Even those that you think will be different and has a good budget too to boost.

I get it too. It’s an Idol drama and if the target audience love it, no wrong is seen.

You missed the purpose of my rant. In and around the mid series are dragged plots and conversations. You can’t be having exactly the same conversation in almost every scene.

Repeatedly telling the female female lead that to be careful she’s about to be caught in every scene, scolding the crown over the same thing that was just said , or the same refugee conversation in the Taoist temple. I could go on and on. I get it, it’s mid series and they need to fill it up to drag it to 50 episodes. But how about quality.

Argh! The dragging and repeated conversations have set in . So thankful for the fast forward option . Hopefully I won’t be too turned off to drop it. But my rating has dropped a lot. China needs to learn to use a big budget properly in their dramas or maybe I just need to find better ones.

Maybe. But, I doubt it. Remember in that era you couldn’t claim to be fully gay, especially as someone with his status. How you will know is how he treats the woman and man in his life. He’s emotionally attached to the man, giving him a lot of time and gifts. But, he’s just fulfilling duties with his wife. Doesn’t even connect with her.
