I LOVE THE FEMALE REPRESENTATION HERE… omg bl dramas always frustrate me with how they show women as either villains or doormats or idk some sort of neutral characters, here any female character adds sth special to the story and actually all of them are connected so beautifully to the leads. We have a dear understanding friend who’s smart and independent and ofc a trusted confidant for Phob, then we have a ex fiance but mostly a great sister which is trying to be a better version of herself as a woman of that time, grandma which is an angel, no one could be as forgiving and loving as she is and we can see where Tinn got his personality from, even the mother which was strict and too inflexible made me think of how realistic her reaction was for that time and her convo with grandma and that small gesture towards Phob really defined this step of the love story between the leads which is being acknowledged and accepted. I really love the script writer for giving us such complex and interesting male and female characters.
If some people couldn’t see where most problems come from this episode was for them, the second the brother and dad entered the picture all the beautiful family dynamic weathered. I do understand the dad and his worries but his decisions and his mindset is so damn wrong and unchanging. (And his mindset literally represents the ideology of aristocrats that they rebelled against) Also they did not just end the episode like that… the cliffhanger is so damn real in this one🥲
The only thing I have to add to this is costume and direction, because both of high quality. It is directed so…
You’re right the costume designs really help with the story telling and making the period dramas more realistic to the said time and place, I haven’t watched overdo cause of bad reviews though I was looking forward to it… that’s a shame how some of directors or crew don’t care about important details.

Exactly!! When you watch behind the scenes you really understand how hardworking and dedicated they all are, the cast, directing team and other crew members.
This drama is answer to our prayers, a drama that has depth, complex characters, pieces of history, topics of politics and status. The chemistry, acting, ost, and ofc the plot are all amazing. If you’re looking for a light hearted bl like we had 1000 of them this drama is not that, it has characters that make decisions like they’re real life people not some sort of love struck 2D characters. They are so beautiful inside and out and so in love that some cliche push and pull, love rival, misunderstandings or similar things have no place between them. Any problem they face comes from outside world and as sympathetic caring people that they are, they get affected and are forced to make decisions accordingly.
I’m on ep 20 and although I didn’t like the first few episodes (the filming and sets looked way too cheap and old school Ik it’s set in past but past shouldn’t mean cheap) but it’s going so good now, there are still some parts that they could work on and improve the drama but overall the chemi and conversations are amazing also this drama is one of the most natural and realistic (well ideally realistic iykyk) ones in terms of relationships and natural interactions, the flow of the relationship is so healing and the characters are really mature (not the villains ofc) which helps engaging with the drama and also relate with them. Hope they don’t mess up the second half and end it neatly so we finally have one healing winter drama to go back to.
There’s sth so endearing about their eyes, not to sound weird but their eyes are so bright and the way they act with their eyes is super engaging, as if they’re telling a lot more than what they’re saying out loud.
The story might not be super fresh but it sure makes you feel all sorts of good feelings, their relationship and the friendship of all of them is so healthy and loving that you forget how many times you saw such scenes in other dramas, and the chemistry of all of them was so good! The main cp really delivered a top notch chemi with enough cuteness and charm.
If we ignore the plot and focus on acting and chemi this would be such a enjoyable drama! Can’t imagine if they’re given good scripts how even better their chemistry will shine.
The acting and cinematography were amazing but the plot was somehow confusing and had some plot holes, if they worked on the flow of it this would be 10/10.
The story might not be 10/10 or close to that but the acting specifically the main leads absolutely is, just love when actors explore new genres and new ways of expressing themselves. The flow of story is good and not boring but sometimes kinda annoying (specially some cheesy scenes), could it be better and a bit more logical? Yes, but if you don’t take things too seriously you’ll enjoy one of the best bonds you’ve seen in dramas.
I really waited so long before writing this comment cause I felt it’s too harsh and the drama might get better but omg I’m utterly disappointed?! How can you have such a fabulous cast and chemistry and mess up the editing and storytelling? I keep thinking how stupid we should be to just accept these scenes as they are without questioning the logic. From the reason and the way each of them figured out about that he is a she to the supporting roles literally taking 70-80% of the screen time (and that for idiot and obvious reasons) it really frustrates me. I’m thinking if they didn’t have the budget for fight scenes and this cast what would they do? I’m not even gonna talk about how better the opening and closing part and ost could be. I really love the scenes the ml and fl are together or the overall relationship of the characters and for that all the faults annoy me more, such a (could be) fresh and unique drama has turned into “just another drama“ cause of some cliche parts and poor decisions.
I really liked the balance of this drama, from serious cases that they touched on some legit problems to lovely interactions of characters and also great costumes and set designs, not to mention great chemi of the cast, it all made this such a enjoyable drama filled with love, trust (well at least the main cp) and war of good vs evil.
At first I thought I would like this drama cause of cast members but after some eps I fell in love with everything in this drama and actually from some people I just realized if we could understand some details of this drama (like the way they changed their voices, fl random modern terms, the hidden mockery of film industry and etc) that was more clear to Chinese audience it would be even better but even by understanding half of those this drama showed us a fresh take on traveling to different time/universe and I thank the crew of post production, people behind all the ost and soundtracks and ofc consumes. Gotta give a round of applause to the cast specially yuning and yitong for all those diverse ways of conveying emotions through their facial expressions and amazing acting.
This plot has such a fantastic balance of comedy and tragic but god those sad scenes are so heart breaking they manage to play both type of scenes in the best way possible but whenever they’re crying I feel like my heart is being ripped.
This drama is really different, the cast is indeed likable but I have to give it to the friendship more than romance (though I liked both cp and their chemi, they all were so adorable) the overall plot and sets were really fresh, if they worked a bit more on the last case this one would easily become top of lists but even now it’s a memorable drama for me. (I have to say whenever I felt like dropping or skipping some parts Ao Rui Peng would save the drama for me, his chemi with all of them and ofc his character was just easily likable and so tailored for him) but some specific scenes you could just see how much they worked for this drama, the fighting scenes were really well performed by all of them.
Their chemistry and at times unfiltered interactions are really the spice of the show, the production is indeed strong and well thought out but the cast? They just bring so much joy and laughter as soon as you see them. And god how supportive and caring they all are!
Now that we’re getting closer to the ending I still have a question, each case is divided into two ep right? And is it like this for other two seasons?
I‘m at first episodes can anyone tell me if it gets better? The story telling from the beginning seems a bit…
Ok then Ill keep watching I was really waiting for this one that’s why I got disappointed. But can I nag? What’s wrong with sound effects and filler scenes? I mean I don’t need shattering glasses sound effect to know boy got heart broken (or other stupid sounds)😅
Hope they don’t mess up the second half and end it neatly so we finally have one healing winter drama to go back to.
