Zero plot, Zero development, boring and frustrating drama, one of the most frustrating and dissapointening, because…
MDL ratings are always frustrating for BLs, the best shows with the strongest writing and character development are always in the 7s and then awful/boring shows with great marketing are rated in the 8s. Ratings from people who drop shows also skew the ratings and I hate it.
How can NuKuea do this to Hia Lian.. I mean he says he is not a kid and then does the most childish things....…
I agree with everything you said, but my expectations of the show were low and I'm still disappointed. I don't think Kuea loves Lian, I don't think he even knows what love is. He enjoys being the center of attention and having a pity party but that's about it.
Only one episode left and there's still barely a plot. Nong was once again the best part of the episode and this week instead of the usual softcore porn they focused on rich people problems and the main character going out of his way to be increasingly unlikeable. YiDiao have yet to have a real conversation. Kuea lies and cries constantly and then wonders why everyone treats him like a child and every week he tells Lian that Lian doesn't love him or know him and every week Lian is loving and attentive to Lian. But Lian still is hopelessly confused about the status of his relationship. And NueaSyn still have NOTHING to do. Of course, everything will end with 3 happy couples, but it will all feel very unearned.
The lazy writing is really a shame because the premise could have created interesting drama for all the main characters, but I can't bother to care about any of these people because I haven't been given a reason to. Seeing the conversation between Yi and Diao's dad would have been great. Seeing YiDiao talk about the status of their relationship would have been great. Seeing what happened between Kuea and Lian after Kuea found out the truth about the deeds would have been great. Anything besides a steamy VERY public kiss for NueaSyn would have been great. But what we got was a lot of filler.
This should have been so much better. I fell in love with BL because of Singto, but this was AWFUL. It proves that good shows need more than just strong actors, they need strong directors and writers too. The 4 main actors are all pretty good but because every character is so underdeveloped and Maze and Nueng are sooooooo unlikeable, in the end, I didn't want either couple to be together. Yacht is easily the best part of this series and I can't wait to see him in anything he does next. I'm so glad I watched this while "Triage" is airing, so I could be reminded of how good Tae is.
Also, the side characters really took away from both relationships. Every time it seemed like there might be progress for Tharn and Nueng, Pookie or Phueak showed up. Ne constantly appeared in what felt like every scene to steal all of the focus from any development Maze and Phap could have had. I'm tired of shows that keep the leads apart for the entire series and only let them be happy in the last minutes of the final episode!
Trying to watch this literally gave me headache. The camera work and music/sound editing were A LOT. I almost made it through the first 10 minutes, but then I gave up.
I tried to watch episode 2 and turned it off after 15 minutes. I wasn't interested in anything that happened. Some people will like it, but I'm not that person. My only question is if I'll be adding Close Friend Season 2 to the long list of KimCop shows that I've dropped.
I just rewatched this masterpiece after seeing too many Thai BLs with bland characters or unsatisfying endings and I'm reminded that no one does BL better than Japan! Still praying for a second season.
I didn't watch the last 3 episodes.. I was waiting to hear the ending first... so I'm glad I didn't.. this was…
I regret not skipping them too. I'm devastated by the ending. 24 hours of viewing time. I was invested and I feel manipulated. But I'm glad it's over so I don't have to watch Tofu be hurt anymore.
After reading the comments summarizing episode 16, I decided to skip it. This show did so many things right, but it was often painful to watch. If I only cared about Nut's happiness the ending might be fine with me, but Nut was a character I put up with so I could enjoy Tofu, Gen and Song throughout the series. For that reason, the conclusion delivered my worst fears for how it would end. If this show was marketed without Tofu/Nut as the main couple, the ending may have hit me differently, but this feels like another gut punch from a writing team who loved using physical violence to further the story. The first time Nut lashed out, I should have dropped it. Tofu always deserved better, too bad the writers didn't agree. For me the ending is a tragedy and I'm hurt.
P.S. I was glad that Na was forced to be somewhat accountable for her actions and she didn't just spend all 16 episodes as a pitiful helpless victim. Many shows avoid accountability for characters like her and I commend this show for forcing her to take some ownership of her decisions and problems those decisions caused.
Episode 15 was hard to watch. There are so many lies and so much pain/sadness and no good resolutions. I'm dreading episode 16 because in spite of everything all I care about is Tofu and Gen/Song's happiness.
I wish the writers had spent less time on Na/Saen/Jan and all their drama and let Tofu reveal that he is a teddy bear many episodes ago and the group could have worked together to uncover the rest of the mysteries. But that didn't happen.
Now Tofu is left to carry the weight of everything by himself and Nut is completely in the dark about everything. And I'm frustrated waiting for Tofu to turn back into a teddy beat and possibily be forgotten like all the other objects who have come alive and died without a word. I should have read some book spoilers before starting this series.
What is wrong with some of these writers? Why do so many feel the storylinehas to have a psycho female who has…
I always wonder why shows add psycho female characters to BLs, I've yet to see one person who says that they enjoy these characters or that those characters make series better. IMO everytime one of those characters is added to a show, it lowers my overall enjoyment of the show.
I just binged the first 8 episodes on 2x because I was bored. Even though I don't hate it, it has some of the laziest writing, most underdeveloped characters, most childish behavior and loudest side characters I've seen. Also the villian is so typical and uninteresting that I fast forward whenever she is on screen.
The best thing I can say about La Cuisine is that the similarities between this and Secret Crush On You remind me that SCOY is one of the best written BLs in a long time. The things here that are badly written, are done soooooo well in SCOY.
hello fellow maxtul fan... and at this point I agree with you...last 2 episodes I was like what is the actual…
👋😍 hello. Yup, if they plan to shove plot development for 3 couples into 2 episodes, they're gonna fail. I expect more kisses and more misunderstandings and lack of communication and everyone happy with no real resolution in the end.
I guess the writer and director knew that sooner or later a big part of the audience would get bored by softcore porn with no plot, so they added Nong. And I'll just thank them for that, because Nong was by far the best part of the episode IMO. Only 2 episodes left and we all know how it will end, but I can't seem to care about much that has happened in the first 10 episodes, smh!
This exists. I hope the actors and crew enjoyed their vacation, but it seems like someone forgot to write a script. If this was about middle schoolers instead of adults, it would have been sweet and harmless, but 4 adults should have had a stronger story. Also, Copter should fire his manager, wow!
