After a year of awful BLs that relied on skinship to make up for poor writing and directing, this is in my top 3 of best series of the year. The chemistry was amazing, the story was relatable and realistic and it managed to feel complete with just 5 episodes. Yes, I wish it was longer, but i enjoyed every minute of it.
Japan doesn't make a lot of BLs every year, but they make some of the best BLs every year and I'm REALLY glad this was available every week on Viki with subs so I could enjoy it as it aired.
The middle of this episode was SUPER frustrating. Mark and Vee are really great together and there's so much that I'm enjoying about the series. But cheating plots are always very messy and I'm not looking forward to all of the pain that Mark is going to experience in future epsiodes. I probably should waited until the series ended and binged it so I didn't have to suffer each week.
How is this soooooooo good? I'm not sure where Yin and War took acting lessons, but a lot of other Thai BL actors should take note. They aren't just saying lines and expecting to convey believable characters. These two are embodying these characters completely and I can't get enough of it. I care about Vee and Mark more in 3 episodes than I do about most characters these days after their entire show has aired.
The production is also really strong. From the locations, to the music, direction and editing, it's all spot on. With so many awful shows out these days, shows like Love Mechanics, KP and Triage all give me a reason to not settle for any series just because it has two male leads. I love this show!
I tried, really I did. But I'm done. That old plate of food that Tee made for Daonuea summed up the show perfectly. Check Out is tired, bland, tasteless, cold leftovers and I can't bother to waste anymore time with it.
I wish the actors especially Chahub had been given a better series. But this is it and it's clearly not gonna get any better. Because shows like KP, Triage and Love Mechanics exist, I can't keep watching crap chruned out countless random Thai studios and not demand more. Also, cgeating is one of the worst plot devices, but even without that, the show would still be REALLY bad.
A show has to be REALLY great for me to watch two episodes without subtitles and still be completely invested in every scene. And wow were episode 11 and 12 great. I'm soooo sad this is nearly over, but I'm really glad I found this gem.
FYI, it wasn't the Japanese Supreme Court (where did you read such misinformation??!), it was a district court…
Wow, thank you for so aggressively correcting my one word of "misinformation". I said Supreme Court, I meant court. I have removed the WORD from my original comment. I won't dare to make such an egregious mistake ever again. You have saved me from the sin of "misinforming" the MDL community and I am forever in your debt!!!
I've always loved Japanese BLs but sadly for me, I didn't like this at all. Just yesterday a Japanese Court upheld the ban on gay marriage and I appreciate this short film for tackling this very important issue. But it all felt very rushed, the ending felt unearned but completely predictable (that's not a criticism since it couldn't have ended any other way) and one of the MLs was extremely unlikeable. Besides Love Stage and Ie Uru Onna no Gyakushu (which barely had any BL), I haven't disliked a Japanese BL this much in more than 5 years.
Simple and sweet. I just realized this is not short but 20 episodes and I think shorter would have been better. It's fine though, so I'll watch all of the episodes.
This will never be my favorite hospital show, but this does have one of the most satisfying endings of any supernatural series I've seen in a while. Nut Karn managed to remove the scar left all those years ago by Gray Rainbow and I'm really glad I watched this series. Also, I really enjoyed Kheeta and Nathee's relationship.
I saw a lot of comments about how awful this was and I had to watch it for myself. I didn't expect it to be great, but I was also hoping it would at least be watchable. After finishing episode 3, I give up. One of the only things about the series that I've enjoyed so far are Park and Lee, but they aren't given much to do.
As a satire, this works slightly better than That's My Candy, but the ones that seem to be in on the joke are Mek and the chancellor. To continue watching this show, I could get past the crazy evil chancellor, the fact that every woman in the show is a SCREAMING fan, the horrible SAY NO SOTUS song and so much more if I was even a bit invested in the MC but I'm not. Mek is loud and Kim is unpleasant to watch. Of course, they'll end up together, but I can't be bothered to care.
Thai BLs are the leaders of BL shipping culture, but for some reason these production companies love making shows that say that shippers are gullible fools. Shipping two actors doesn't make a series good, but when a series is really bad, sometimes shipping is the only thing that keeps the series relevant. Judging fans in series after series for shipping feels like an unnecessary attack on your audience and I'm over it.
So far, this is another below average series where Jeff Satur's OST is the best thing it has going for it!

Also, Ploy is driving me crazy!!!
