I can't say this is good, but it's not a bad thing to pass the time and if you like any of the leads, you'll find something to enjoy. Overall I enjoyed it but the addition of the special guest at the end and complete lack of meta when he arrived was a missed opportunity.
I'm so thankful to everyone involved in this series for making a masterpiece. This was pretty much perfect. I'm so sad it's over but, I'm so glad I got to be here for all 14 weeks. Vegas and Pete forever!!!! Also, we're all so lucky to have Jeff Satur πππππ
This was easily the best episode of an already great show. The scene with the brother showed me that the writers ACTUALLY get it and I loved it. Most shows would have had Vee respond very differently to his brother or Mark leave before Vee's answer, I'm so glad that didn't happen. I'm not surprised that this episode was great because the ex was completely sidelined for the whole thing, yay! But the highlight for me was the moment a special someone showed up and clicked for a spilt second with Nuea. I want Nuea to be happy and I think that guy will be great for him :D
Waiting a week for episode 6 will be hard and I know there will be more sadness for these two in the future, but I'm sooooo glad this show exists!
Another BL failed by bad writing, directing, lighting and editing. I'm watching this in 2022, the year of endless badly written and directed BLs, so it's hard for me to be surprised by this mess even though this aired in 2021. I know Gameplay can act, watch him in "He She It" if you don't believe me. I saw good chemistry between Gameplay and Folk and if the series was fully focused on them and the development of their relationship, it could have worked. Sorta like "Ingredients" worked by only focusing on Jeff and GP's RELATIONSHIP, but this was filled with endless distractions and by episode 5 I was falling asleep even during the "sexy" scenes.
I like Best, but his character was not needed. Penelope was also not needed. Chai lying about being a "bottom" was not needed. But worst of all, a production company planning a series with two actors who don't want to act together, forcing them to live together to build chemistry for 10 days and then canceling the series as soon as they have chemistry is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. In the end, I don't hate this show, I hate that GP passed up on one of the best BLs of all time to be in this and I hope he fires his manager or agent. I'm going to watch Work from Heart because I love GP, but I don't expect it to be any better than this, which is sad.
When something works, it works and this really works. There's no big budget, there aren't a lot of side characters and YES there's an age gap. But I'm enjoying it a lot. Also, age gap stories have existed in gay and straight media forever. Shin is not a child and Akira is not an old man, so I don't see a problem with it. I'm so glad this is 12 episodes, can't wait for episode 3.
If you didn't want more from Yuki and Ying Ze (who were BARELY in this) and you enjoyed all the flashbacks of Li Gong and Ze Shou during the series, this is perfect for you. For me, this was a waste that could just been included in the final episode. Meh
I never thought any HIStory could be worse than History3 MODC (because of the last episode), but this is sooo bad.
Having one of the main characters rape another main character was a TERRIBLE story idea. At this point I don't want to see anymore HIStorys, I'm disgusted.
They should get better source material or do some Japanese remakes
Yup. There's an endless amount of Japanese, Korean and Chinese yaois with better storylines than the crap these BL writers are making these days. They have no excuse.
because they are more focused on spitting out BL's at a rapid pace rather than taking their times to deliver good…
True. They're focused on a short-term cash grab and ignoring the fact that quality shows create long term success for the actors and companies. While the crappy shows are quickly forgotten.
I wish I liked this more but episodes 10 and 11 ruined it for me. I never really felt like Fu Li Gong loved Cheng Ze Shou like that so once the conflict happened, I was over their relationship. The events of episode 12 felt unearned and by that point I just wanted the show to be over. Also, the father's selfishness reminded me of how parents ruined everything in soooo many old BLs and I don't need to see that crap in a BL made in 2022 in the only Asian country that allows gay marriage. Yes, parents in all countries can be opposed to gay marriage, but having that be the centerpiece of conflict just felt frustrating, outdated and uninteresting.
I did like Yuki and Ying Ze and I loved Ling Ling. They saved the show for me, but even with them the show wasn't good. I will watch the special episode for them though.
Wow!! These production companies have just stopped trying to find competent writers and directors. We've never had more BLs than in 2022, but damn soooo many of them are awful.
What did I just watch? A discount version of UWMA with much worse acting, another show obsessed with how rich the seme is even though he has no personality, another girl obsessed with a guy who doesn't want her and this time she happens to be half-naked (where were her clothes? This is college a night club), and Fluke showing zero acting range when we all know he can do MUCH better! Why is this even a thing if no one is putting in any effort and there's only 4 episodes left? By the time I start to get invested, it will be over. I'm gonna pass for now and maybe binge it later because just like everyone involved in making this, I can't be bothered to care.
AISPlay might have a better chance of convincing fans to pay for this if it was halfway decent.
P.S. I just noticed that the writer and director are the same person and he's never directed or written a BL before and his last directing credit was 7 years ago, but he screenwrote and directed something in 2020. And he's also a "Producing Director" on Unforgotten Night. Now it all makes sense!
could you tell us your other top 3 of the year? i also felt like finding a gemstone between a lot of rocks with…
The first 3 episodes of Secret Crush on You are REALLY bad. But then it gets very very good and has many wonderful characters. If you have time hopefully you can give it another chance.
I'm still waiting for a subbed version of thd Cherry Magic movie. I really liked the show. I just started Minato Shouji Coin Laundry and it's good so far.
this is exactly what i came here for to comment about it doesn't feel at all that'll be wrapped with just one…
Even though BL sequels are almost always worse than the first season, I'd prefer a sequel over a rushed ending. Tol deserves time to figure everything out, make Tin fall in love him and limit the damage done to all the other characters harmed by the evil doctor. Tin had plenty of time and he still couldn't get it right. Tol shouldn't be forced to figure a happy ending for everyone this quickly.
Yes, Cherry Blossoms was in my top 5 until i saw Old Fashioned Cupcake. I LOVED the webtoon and the live action HaeBom and Taesung were so precious. I hope there's a sequel!
I'll share my top 5 because it seems unfair to just pick 3 since some shows are great even if they aren't my personal favorites. This isn't in order: KinnPorsche, You're My Sky, Secret Crush On You, Semantic Error and Old Fashioned Cupcake.

But if ypu like this show, I'd also recommend Utsukushii Kare, it came out in 2021, but it's really amazing. There's a lot of great Japanese BLs that don't get much attention though.
This feels like the worst timeline and I'm not sure one episode is enough to resolve everything. I'm so invested though that i can't wait until next week.
