I wish this show focused on 8 guys who recently graduated college and their experiences in the "real world". The first few episodes could have established their relationships right before they graduated and the bulk of the series could have been spent where episode 11 starts. I thought it all worked really well this week and I'm sad that it ends next week right when things were getting good. Mek and Kim are still the most forgettable characters, but the other 6 are really great to watch.
I'm sure it will never happen, but I'd love to see a second season focusing on Park and Lee, Bear and Bomb and Tim and Mai.
I could complain about the paper-thin plot and every line feeling like something you'd only find in a greeting card. Or the endless technical failures, that reminded me that the writer and director should never work in the industry again. But everyone has already covered all that. For me, this would be just another basic Thai BL with a group of kids we'll never see on screen again, but as the episodes dragged on I felt increasingly grossed out by the entire thing. This had to have been a tax write-off from some rich studio executive who either has never seen a BL or has contempt for the entire genre. I'm sure these kids thought this would be their big breaks, but as far as I can tell none of them have had roles since this series. It's sad because there is something here that could have been made into a fine series if the people behind the camera gave a d*mn. Too bad they didn't because these actors tried their best.
These days many BL fans say they're over high school BLs, but I hope that they're actually tired of average and below-average BLs set in high school. This series seemed special from the first trailer and First is easily one of the best actors on GMMTV's roster. He doesn't disappoint at all in episode one. But I was surprised to see Khaotung steal the show. Their chemistry is palpable and every moment they were on screen together felt electric. I'm really looking forward to the next episodes and I'm glad to see Neo and Louis are still really good together.
Not sure why so many companies are geoblocking series this year, it seems like self sabotage and not a great way to get lots of viewers. But after recently finishing Even Sun, I'm glad Wabi Sabi is giving us a much better series. I usually avoid high school BLs but I've been looking forward to this one and I thought the first episode was sweet and very sincere.
This is one of those shows that reminds me not to settle. The plot is simple, but the actors and story make me fully immersed each episode. Like the actors in other great BLs made this year, Nishigaki Sho does such an incredible job in this role that it's hard to watch other shows with subpar acting by the leads.
But in the end we're getting close to the make or break part of the series. Sometimes a series can still be good if the leads don't get together, but for me at least, that won't work with this series. All I need is a happy ending, I don't expect them to get together next week. I'm hoping that the writers don't disappoint us!!!
That was a typo, unforgivable I know. Clearly, you felt VERY upset by it and I didn't mean to write the wrong word, but thank you for dismissing everything else I said because of one incorrect word, while also agreeing with my larger points. Whatever, this ridiculous show has wasted enough of my time.
Another series that had a strong start, that treaded water in the middle and failed to provide a good ending.…
Krat showing up was random. The character was extremely creepy and made me feel very uncomfortable. Vee making the deal with him was gross. It's hard to remember such a misogynistic moment in a recent BL. Two tops make a deal to physically fight for the bottom where the loser agrees to stop pursuing the bottom. This happens while NEITHER guy asks Mark what he wants. Huh?!?!?!!??! How did we end up here??!!?!?!? Why did anyone think this was an appropriate way to show Vee winning Mark back? Also, Mark's complete lack of agency throughout the first half of the episode was frustrating at best. And to top it off Vee calls Mark his wife a few scenes later! Another series stuck in the BL stone ages! I'm pretty sure that Mark is stronger than Vee and could have defended himself, but I guess turning him into a damsel in need of saving was the preferred way to wrap up the series.
Another series that had a strong start, that treaded water in the middle and failed to provide a good ending. Mark and Vee are really good characters. But the constant obstacles they face have lowered my enjoyment of the series.
Episode 9 was another example of toxic masculinity and really unpleasant to watch. Overall, the acting is stronger than many many series. But the story falls flat in the 2nd half which was unfortunate. The strongest recent BLs KinnPorsche, Bad Buddy, Not Me and a hand full of others allowed the MC to be together for more than the last moments of the last episodes. This uses a lot of typical and outdated tropes. It's not the mechanics of love, it was pain, suffering, and a lack of trust, between two people who really wanted to be happy together. I look forward to War's next role, he's really great. I think there's one more episode, maybe it won't be so cringy.
I haven't been this conflicted with a show in a long time. Out of boredom, I binged this over the last few days after dropping it when it first started airing and really enjoyed most of it.
Bear and Boom are exactly what I want to see in a new couple in a college series. At first it doesn't seem like they'll have much chemistry, but they really work. Tim and Mai's relationship is a great slow burn and I always look forward to their scenes. Park and Lee are easily the best part of the series. It's rare to see a mature relationship in a college BL, but it's even rarer to see a long-term relationship in the 1st season of a Thai BL. Park and Lee's relationship feels very special and I didn't expect to find something like this in a show as basic as this one. They are so great together that I really wish there could be a spin-off with them as the leads.
The problem is Mek and Kim. I wasn't a big fan of Earth in 2 Moons 2 and he's not doing much better in this series. Fluk seems like an ideal actor to play a goofy sidekick in a series, but he and Earth aren't strong enough to carry the show. Mek and Kim's relationship has felt shallow from the beginning and with each passing week, it feels more immature. From the fake BL relationship in the beginning to the almost love triangles with Pam and Tim and now the "I'm going aboard so we can't be together" storyline, it's all tired and cliched. Since the other 3 couples have realistic foundations and actual chemistry, every time Mek and Kim are on camera, it's hard to not roll my eyes watching their constant childish problems.
I think I watched the same episode as you. The night it aired I shared an unpopular opinion about episode 1 and…
Yeah, I'm guessing that the low viewership is part of the issue. Not many people watched the 1st episode so fans of the actors are likely the majority of comments. The same happened when Ocean Likes Me started, but after a few episodes the comments balanced out. I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone, but I will be checking back in here in a few weeks to see if people like us are still the outliers.
Perhaps I'm watching a different series than everyone else, but that first episode was CRAP. I learned ZERO about…
I think I watched the same episode as you. The night it aired I shared an unpopular opinion about episode 1 and also dropped it. I wish I watched the show everyone else on here saw. The show they watched sounds really good, I guess I got the crappy cut lol
As this aired, I heard so many awful things about it that I was never gonna watch it. But the great BL drought of 2022 left me with pretty much nothing to watch. I started this confused about why it got so many negative comments. I laughed out loud many times, I liked all of the main characters and then episode 6 happened and it got worse every minute. I felt like I'd been transported to a world in a Chinese BL made 6+ years ago.
I forced myself to finish it hoping and praying that it would get better. But even in the final episode the hits just kept on coming. I've never seen a show where the final episode is this miserable, sexist and frustrating. In the end, I felt bad for Ton. And I'm glad that GMMTV got so much backlash for this because they haven't made anything this bad since. GMMTV has made so many BLs over the years, I thought My Gear And Your Gown or Enchante was their rock bottom, but this is truly the absolute worst.
If any poor soul considers watching this disaster, save yourself the pain, suffering, rage and JUST DON'T WATCH IT.
Hey there, no you’re not in a minority. I found it difficult and confusing viewing. For me, the script just…
You said what I was thinking. All I can say is YUP!!!! Which is why I'm just gonna pass on this one and let others enjoy it because I know I wouldn't if watched the whole series.
i dont really know if my comment its worth reading since this was one of my first bl series, but i dont think…
Secret Crush on You starts off pretty badly, but develops into a really good show that also has a transgender character that is not just a poorly written parody.
Also, I hope you get to see some more BLs with stronger scripts than this.
I'm sad after finishing this because it all feels like such a waste of time and a huge amount of wasted potential. Episode 6 was easily the best of the series, but it only highlighted what could have been if the writers cared or tried to make an actual story. What we got was 5 episodes of stalling and a race to the finish line.
This was the first time I watched a bad show and really wished it were longer. There was so much that could have been done with the premise, but nothing happened. Mangkorn and Ashing had a story to tell, Sun and Arthid had a story to tell and both pairs had undeniable chemistry but everything was completely underdeveloped. Nearly every moment spent with any of the dads would have been better spent on developing the relationships between the main characters. Wabi Sabi should be ashamed. I truly hope this is the worst thing we get from BounPrem this year because those two together are amazing and watching their strengths shine through the crappy writing throughout Even Sun was painful to watch.
