The beginning of episode 8 was random, but it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the series. This was short and sweet, but the characters were fully developed and the relationship was believable. This wasn't the best Japanese BL of the year, but it was much better than a lot of BLs I've seen recently.
Because there have been so many awful BLs this year with non-existent scripts, for me this show is something to look forward to every week. I will always enjoy a show with solid acting and a good script over the crap they usually give to BL fans. I don't need a big budget. This is really good.
Maybe they should have named it "Next Day" since "the next day" came up over and over and over again. After watching the trailer, I expected this to be pretty bad and even though I didn't like the first episode at all, I think the show MIGHT be watchable.
The biggest problem is that the Special Episode exists. If it didn't and all the viewers came into the show with zero expectations, it would be easier to watch this, but we all saw the Special Episode and waited a year. This is kinda disappointing, I personally would have been happy to wait another 6 months for a better script.
The only thing I'm looking forward to is more from Boat.
For me, episode 8 was the weakest, but I still really enjoyed the series. I wanted more time with all 6 characters because of how wholesome and sweet every episode was. I know some people were uncomfortable with the apparent age gap between Dermdem and Meow, but the actors are only 3 years apart and the final episode makes it clear that they knew each other as kids. In my mind Meow is an adult who happens to be very naïve and Dermdem is in his mid-twenties.
If you want to watch something simple, fairly short and unproblematic, there are a lot of shows that are much worse than this one. But know before you watch that this isn't groundbreaking or a contender for best series.
This show only ever really had 2 conflicts. People being jealous of RamLukchub/LukchinLukchub and Namning terrorizing people mostly Lukchub. I'm not sure when Thai BL writers decided that storylines about people assuming that two blood-related brothers were secretly a couple would be interesting, but it never is. From Paint With Love to Star in My Mind and now La Cuisine, it's always a flimsy premise and never enjoyable to watch. That stupid press conference would have been so much better if Lukchin didn't hog all of the attention and wait until the last minute to say Chub was his brother.
As many have already said Nam deserves jail not a backstory to try to get sympathy from the audience. We've all seen this storyline before, but I haven't seen a character as evil as her since the ex-girlfriend in "My Day". I'm holding out hope that she will be arrested and I don't feel bad at all for her. Sure her dad had a second family and her mom brainwashed her so they could hang on to her dad, but lots of people have bad parents and don't destroy the lives of their peers more than a decade later. Her dad is wrong for having 2 families, but it appears that he always treated her well and never actually abandoned her.
All in all this show is bad and I will quickly forget it when it finishes next week. But my biggest problem with the show will always be the fact that everyone treated Lukchub like a 5-year-old. No matter what happened when he was very little, he is not a child. His family, friends and boyfriend constantly babying him is dumb and very frustrating to watch. We just dealt with this crap in Cutie Pie and it's no less irritating here.
I was looking forward to this until I saw Star in My Mind. Even though I didn't like Star in My Mind, I was still going to watch it for Mek. But then I saw the trailer and I have no desire to watch knock-off version of A Tale of Thousand Stars with this director. I hope it's good, but I'll wait until it finishes before giving it a chance.
At least it's over. We all deserve a t-shirt that says, "I finished Star and Sky: Star in My Mind and Cutie Pie and all I got was this crappy t-shirt". I'll forget this show in a day or so, so I won't bother to repeat why I think it was so bad. And if I do list all of its failures, someone will probably get my post deleted anyway.
I still like Dunk and Joong though and hope they both take some acting classes.
Why does this have the score that it does? So weird. Usually I can tell why something falls below the 8.0 range,…
Great question, I was wondering the same thing. My guess is because it doesn't have a large audience. There are less than 700 votes and the people who dropped it clearly weighted the rating down. These days BLs with the largest audiences tend to have higher ratings than good shows with smaller audiences. And votes from the droppers of those shows are usually 5s while the votes from the people who watch the entire series are usually 8s. I wish this wasn't true, but some of my favorite BLs of 2022 have a rating of 7.6-7.9, while some shows that I find to be truly awful are 8s and large audiences.
I will never understand the need to hate something you haven't actually watched, but it happens here a lot. And I hope that people start taking these ratings with a grain of salt because the algorithm is flawed.
I know a lot of people aren't enjoying this series and I think that much of the criticism is valid, but I still like it. In a world with unnecessary plot twists, evil villains, meddling parents and MCs with no chemistry who barely spend time together, this show is a breath of fresh air to me. I'm sad there's only one more episode, it's so wholesome and sweet.
I don't think anything airing right now is the best BL. But most BL fans as far as I've seen are also enjoying KinnPorsche. So, I'd say Tirage and KinnPorsche are the best BLs airing right now.
Wow what an episode! I know not a lot of people are watching this, but it's easily one of the two best BLs airing right now. Just like in Manner of Death, the character development is really compelling and instead of just waiting for two boys to fall in love, this show actually makes me care about everything happening in the hospital and to all of the characters. I love a story with strong writing and this has that 100%
Only for a show that's truly awful do fans resort to reporting comments that don't praise the episode to get them deleted from MDL. That's pathetic. If people aren't free to share their positive and negative thoughts and opinions of the show, then what's the point of the comments section?
Okay, this is going to be a hate comment. Bold from me who never hate on anything.1. I am supposed to care about…
I agree with everything you said. Domestic violence as a plot device really is a new low. Who thought that was a good idea to include in the plot??!!?!
