On When It Rains, It Pours Jan 20, 2025
Oh wow, Sei and Kazuaki's relationships seem soooo miserable. On the surface everything looks fine, but neither's physical needs are being met. And that is obviously having an impact on them emotionally/mentally. The plot is so deep and realistic. I can't wait for the next episode.

I'm personally not interested in the roommate or girlfriend, but I'm glad that neither is written as a one dimensional person.
I always have a soft spot for low budget series with unique plots. I REALLY liked the early episodes, but like with so many Thai BLs these days, the later episodes were a letdown. Shows like this prove the point that acting experience matters. Since the cast were all newbies, I couldn't help but wonder how good this could have been with stronger actors who were able to effectively portray characters dealing with life in prison and relationships. Or if the script had been better, maybe the actors would have been more convincing, idk.

Overall, this feels like a missed opportunity because the premise was great. But I did appreciate View being included in the series. It was kinda jarring that the main characters looked like typical Thai BL actors while all the other prisoners looked like regular people. I wish one of them got more screen time. But it was nice seeing a "femme" character in a BL who wasn't just there to be made fun of. It's unfortunate how rare it is to see characters like that in BL. And that in this show View was basically a villain. But at least View was in the series.

I didn't have high expectations for this one since it's written by the same person who wrote DNA Says Love You. I thought that show was fine and that's how I feel about the first 2 episodes of this one. There's a lot of exposition and flashbacks, which for me gets old fast. I do think the characters are fine overall. But Lu Hui is a lot. Probably because the actor playing him is much older than the character, the delivery seems kinda off. But I'm willing to stick around for now and see if the series grows on me.

Oh wow episode 2 was so good. I was smiling and laughing the entire time. The guest appearance of Alan (Alone) and Kaipa (Kaitong) was icing on the cake! I love the friendship EarthMix and FirstKhao have, they should always make cameos in each other's series!!!

I'm also loving how the plot is developing and that the side characters hold Heng accountable for his actions. The side characters were one of the best parts of the original series, I'm glad they didn't make them useless in this version.

I'm also glad that most of the trolls have left this page. I think for the first Thai remake of a Japanese comedy BL, a rating of 7 9 is fine. Many fans of Thai BLs don't seem to like Japanese humor. Personally I love it and I love this series and the original 🥰

I was willing to stick with it even though the side characters are mostly useless and the sound effects are annoying, because I like the leads. Then the clothespin scene happened and I knew I was done.

I will always appreciate sex scenes in a show if it adds to the plot and fits the characters/situation. But too many BLs these days use over the top sex scenes when writers are too lazy or incompetent too actually write a story. Farce is great when done right. Ridiculousness and absurdity can also be fun when done right. But using the same sound effects that were old in 2017 and adding in a "Requiem for a Dream" style sex scene with characters we barely know for no reason isn't fun, funny, entertaining or worth my time. I'm done, I hope the people who finish this enjoy it.

There are so many great Taiwanese BLs and this one is as good as some of the best ones. I'm grateful that this series wasn't told from an ableist perspective and even though society treated Shaopeng like he wasn't "normal" he was a great guy and had great people around him. ZiXiang started out like so many bratty rich characters we've seen dozens of times in BL, but the writer really developed his character well and he grew a lot over the course of the series, which was wonderful to watch.

I'm giving this a high rating because both couples were great, the relationship between the leads was developed really well and Shaopeng's parents were awesome. But I was kinda disappointed that so much screen time was wasted on 2 stereotypical females who spent most of their time obsessing over men who didn't want them, while actively ignoring the wishes/desires of the men they obsessed over. These characters have always existed in BL and they are never worth watching for me. I wish that time was spent developing the second couple or Zicheng's character more. But overall, the show was really good and I'd definitely recommend it.

I don't know why people are obsessed with hate that they create new accounts just to give low ratings for a series…
Yeah. I find it so odd that people invest so much time and effort sabotaging things for other people. I really want everyone to share their opinions even when I disagree with them. But it just seems malicious to rate a show you're not watching after 1 episode.

Everyone involved in making a series no matter how large or small the budget was worked hard. Lowering the rating because you don't like some aspect of the show is of course everyone's right, but it also does damage. But many people these days don't seem to care or understand that their actions have consequences.

The fact that a genre called "boys LOVE" has many viewers (I won't call these people fans) who dedicate their time, energy and sometimes money into harming the lives of the BL actors and crew and attacking fans, has always been the saddest thing about the BL fandom IMO. There are so many bad things in the world, why try to teardown a niche genre that only exists to make fans happy and tell gay stories? But misery loves company I guess.
On Ossan's Love Thailand Jan 9, 2025
If 2024 taught BL fans anything it's that every series isn't for every BL fan. I dropped A LOT of series last year and there are many I never even tried to watch. I know what I like and what doesn't work for me. But I also don't rate shows I don't finish. I get that this type of humor isn't funny to everyone. I also understand that everyone doesn't watch trailers so people who watched the first episode may not have known what to expect. I also understand that some people don't find Japanese comedy to be funny. And since this is a remake of a Japanese series, people who didn't like the original (which also has a lower rating on here), may not like this version. I also appreciate everyone sharing their opinions whether they like the show or not.

But what boggles my mind is when someone gives a low rating on any series after watching 1/12th. We all have initial thoughts, but how can you rate something when you haven't even seen 10% of it? People don't go to a movie and rate it after 10 minutes, why do it with shows?

At the end of the day, the MDL ratings system has been skewed for a long time. I just hope people read the comments which are mostly positive so far and give the show a chance instead of just looking at the current rating and deciding that the show isn't good.

I have nothing but good things to say about this series. At a time when new series are airing every week, it's hard to find something that's truly special. Every series isn't the greatest series ever or the best romance of all time. But some stories rise above the fluff and fairytales that have become synonymous with BL and show the lives of two people who fall in love and the ups and downs of that journey.

This series was filled with downs and in my opinion that made each happy moment even more meaningful. Every time Haruki smiled it filled my heart with joy. Jin allowing himself to be in a relationship while living in a society that isn't ready to accept that relationship is one of the realist things I've seen in BL in a long time. The special episode focusing on the difficulties gay couples still face in Japan (as well as most other countries) was EVERYTHING. It is a topic that is rarely discussed, but needs to be highlighted more!

The actors were spectacular. The writing was heartbreaking, beautiful and relatable. If even a few series in 2025 are this fantastic, all BL fans will be very lucky. I know JBLs have historically been less popular than BLs from certain other countries. But JBLs will always be my favorites and Our Youth is just the latest example of why they are the best to me.

All of the above! They are trying but they could have tried a bit harder to make it really work. Don't get me…
I agree

Like with all of Mame's other decent series, the only thing that made the first episode watchable was the great chemistry between the leads. Boss and Noeul are great together and I'm looking forward to watching Cirrus and Phu fall in love. Everything else felt like white noise.

I want to be fair. There's a lot to like, but it's lacking in some key areas. It reminds me of Escape to Homestay. And I really liked that show. The leads are cute, they have good chemistry and the premise is straightforward. And it's great that we finally got a show where they did a good job with leads who speak different languages!!!!

But the episodes are too long, nothing really interesting is happening and the subtitles are a mess. For those reasons, I can understand why some people aren't loving it so far. I'm going to stick with it though, but after episode 2, my expectations are lower.

I loved the first 7 episodes and the second half of 10, but 8 and 9 were skipable. Overall, I loved Sun and Junior so much. And the chemistry between Ben and Jay was as good as some of the long run ships. I also really loved Jodd and Jeng. Arm and Porsch elevate any BL and I hope to see all 6 actors in more series soon.

The show was excellent, especially when you consider that it came from a small production company and had a mostly amateur cast. Even the side characters (not the bad guys) were great. I'd rewatch it.
The writers of KP are obviously not good people, but watching this blatant ripoff reminded me that they were strong writers. I think they could sue, but since the budget of this is soooooo low, suing would be a waste of time.

I love watching bad movies/shows and as my first BL of 2025, I was entertained by this head scratching attempt at something from start to finish. What a mess 🤣

I totally agree with you on this! I wish we could still stick to them as a couple only with their own unique inner…
I knew they would separate at some point. And even though it made me sad, I was prepared for them to not be together and reconnect near the end. But I agree with you, I didn't feel like we needed sooooo much time with everyone else instead of continuing to focus on the mains and what they've been feeling/experiencing over the last 5 years.

It's the same way in the webtoon et this adaptation is really smart and great. This is "to better prepare us"…
I get that it matches the webtoon. But I'm still disappointed.

why does the mom appear in every bl series 😂😂😂😂 from enchante and then only boo and then your sky…
There have been many actors/actresses who have played a parent in 3 or more BLs. I guess it's a pay check and a job.

I thought the first episode was cute. I usually like series set outside of Bangkok because they have a different vibe. This was fun and I liked the mom a lot. Looking forward to the next episode.
