This episode really was "when it rains, it pours". Sooooo much happened and I felt all the emotions. I'm not gonna comment on the girlfriend, roommate or cheating because people on here seem extra sensitive about those topics and I just want to enjoy the show and look forward to the next episode.
Nah, nah, nah. This just isn't it Taiwan! What is going on with you lately? Apart from "See Your Love", it's all…
Exactly. It feels like this show was made for people newer to BL. People who have watching BL for years, have seen this story done better too many times to be satisfied with this basic plot and these paint by numbers relationships.
There may not be a ton of exceptional BLs made each year, but those series raise the bar. And my standards and expectations are higher now than they were before 2020.
Wow that was very special. It felt so real and I cared about all 3 characters. It's really rare that series/movies includes the perspective of a parent of a LGBTQ person in this way. The difficulties the mom faced because of her son's actions were hard to watch, but the fact that she was supportive of him anyway was beautiful.
Whenever I see a series/movie that includes HIV set in modern times, it makes me so grateful knowing how far we've come. Anyone who was alive decades ago knows that HIV or AIDS was a death sentence. And the fact that for most people it's not anymore is something worth celebrating.
I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to watch a story about LGBTQ people. If you're looking for a standard BL, you'll probably be disappointed. I'm sure the rating would be MUCH higher if people watching it had more realistic expectations before turning it on. I give it a 9.5.
Since Taiwanese BLs consistently have some of the best chemistry between characters and believable kisses, it's hard not to have high expectations. Unfortunately for me this was a letdown. It's obvious that the brothers like YuXing and Bingchen, but YuXing's feelings for LuHui just aren't convincing to me. And even though the physical relationship went from 0 to 1000 in a split second, episode 5 still didn't make me believe in their romantic relationship more. Skinship and sex scenes are fine, but without giving me a reason to feel the emotional investment from both characters, it just feels hollow. I'm probably the outlier and plenty of people will think that the love between YuXing and LuHui is wonderful, beautiful, so hot or whatever. But I'm not sold on it.
Also, LuXi's non-reaction when his little brother told him he has a crush on his live in teacher, was something. Even if he had no issue with it, a bit of shock would have felt more realistic from a brother who's been very invested in his little brother's life since the series started. But I guess LuXi read the script so he wasn't surprised 😒.
I didn't love episode 4, but episode 5 was really great. It feels like the show turned a corner. Boss knows the truth, the daughter calmed down a lot, Mo called Heng out on his BS which REALLY needed to happen and Heng is finally thinking about who he wants to be with and why. Overall, the story progressed a lot and even though some of it felt like a fever dream, I was entertained. I also really appreciate all of the Easter eggs for EarthMix fans. If you know, you know 🤎❤️
I can see why many people said this was bromance and not BL. After sitting through the very boring 6 episodes, a handhold doesn't feel like I just watched a BL. I know this aired in an era when viewers swooned anytime two guys were together on screen. But almost 5 years later, that doesn't cut it anymore. These two behaved like nothing more than old friends until the last scene.
I'd give this a pass though if there was a story or if the main character wasn't so unlikeable for the majority of the series. But watching two guys sit around, while one is treated like a servant who cooks all the time and the other is an entitled brat is not entertaining for me. I think the MDL rating is deserved.
I had this on my plan to watch list for years and I finally watched it. The synopsis doesn't really fit what the movie is actually about. I really loved the idea of the film and subtext, but overall it felt underdeveloped and incomplete.
I think it is worth watching for anyone who is looking for an LGBTQ story and not a BL. There is a lot to appreciate even though I think Kohei is the least interesting character and wished the protagonist had been any of the other characters because they all seemed more intriguing than him. The lives of the LGBTQ people who populate the background of the movie made me stick around, even though the second half was slow and mostly uneventful. I liked the ending, but if you're looking for a typical BL "happy ending", this probably isn't the movie for you.
P.S. if you happen to watch on a site that includes an endless piano track constantly playing in the background, I'm pretty sure that's not how it was originally made. I found it to be extremely distracting, but won't hold that against the movie in terms of my rating.
This is the best trailer I've seen in a LONG TIME!!! This seems like a queer series that isn't made to cater exclusively to a BL audience and I'm 100% here for it! I hope this doesn't disappoint
Another week of this being the most mature and compelling series I've seen in a long time. Everyone's situation is so complex and nuisanced, but the solution for the leads seems so simple on the surface. But I think the point is that sex isn't just a simple thing, it involves emotions, decisions and has repercussions. The way the story wrestles with all of that is so intriguing.
Kaori's pregnant friend summed everything up in a couple of minutes and now I want to watch an entire series about her! The hell they're all in is not the "hell" we usually think of, but it's obvious that the leads and the pregnant lady are MISERABLE! I can't wait for the next episode.
It seems like an unwritten rule that secondary characters must be annoying, and forgettable to give full focus…
I feel the same way. Side characters can be interesting. But when writers force every single character to only focus on the protagonists, it makes the side characters annoying, pointless and forgettable for me.
I'm not an expert in the BL genre, I don't know if it has its own rules becauseI haven't been watching for long.,…
I'm sure most people would say that I've seen too many BLs and sadly I have to agree with your assessment. Many BLs tend to focus solely on the 2 leads. The side characters exist to give the mains someone to complain about their problems with and rarely have anything going on that doesn't involve the mains.
I tend to prefer stories that give the other characters lives that don't exclusively revolve around the mains. But those are hard to come by unless there is a second couple or villain.
You pointed out something that for some reason escaped my mind: the side characters are not enjoyable to watch.…
You articulated what I meant better than me. The side characters are so forgettable and have no depth. I am invested in the 3 mains, but everyone else just feels like filler. Only there to stretch out 12 long episodes. That's not at all what I felt about the side characters in the original.
*sigh* Earth has been my favorite actor since Water boyy and EarthMix have been my OTP since 1000 Stars. Because they haven't had a series together since Moonlight Chicken (I'm not counting Our Skyy 2, because it was so short), I was really looking forward to this series.
I loved the original Ossan's Love and really enjoyed the first 2 episodes of this series. But if I'm being honest, I think this is my least favorite EarthMix series. The antics between the 3 leads and the interesting side characters made the original hilarious for me. But it feels like the leads don't spend as much time together in this show and the side characters aren't enjoyable to watch.
I'm guessing the writers/directors created Cher-Aim because she is in the same age range as their target audience. I'm not going to bother to complain about how much screen time she sucked up, because it's obvious that the directors told the actress to be that over the top. She fits with so many insufferable BL female characters that have derailed series that would have been more entertaining without a character like that. So I won't act surprised. I loved Kurosawa (Musashi's wife in the original), but the only thing I loved in episode 4 was the inclusion of Mr. Saturnworld. I'm sticking with the show out of loyalty to EarthMix and I'm glad other people are enjoying it.
I really don't think it's a country-based issue. Some Thai shows suck (like this one), and others are great (Spare…
I never said ALL Thai shows are bad. But at this point it doesn't even matter. I'm not going spend time going back and forth with someone who needs to cry over nothing. I'm not going to watch anymore of this show or engage with you further.

Poorly written shows no matter what country they're from get criticized. This is a discussion board where people come to comment on the shows/movies they watch. Almost every show/movie on this site has some critical comments. Just like shows/movies on discussion boards about shows/movies from any country in the world have critical comments. Entire courses are taught with the sole purpose of criticizing shows or movies.
You've watched less than 15 Thai BLs, I've seen hundreds of them. Me commenting about the quality of Thai BLs not improving is not "Thai hate". I literally learned the Thai language because I love Thailand so much, I've studied Thai culture for years and will be visiting Thailand this year. Anyone who knows me, would never say that I hate Thailand. But you don't know me and I have no desire to know you.
Calling anything you disagree with "hate" is something I often see people new to this site who want to silence dissenting opinions do, but you picked the wrong person.
Hate is defined as, "to feel intense or passionate dislike". I love Thailand and I love Thai BLs. Because I love them, I want them to continue to improve and over the last few years, I have seen the writing for Thai BLs stagnate. Me pointing that out is not hate. Instead of coming on here and crying because you read a comment you didn't like, you could learn the actual meaning of the words you use or you could watch more BLs to get a better understanding of why so many people are dissatisfied with an increasing number of poorly written series.

It's funny how some people feel the need to come on here to protect Thai series, but rarely get so defensive about poorly written shows from other countries. There is no rule on this site that says people aren't allowed to make generalizations. People make generalizations for all sorts of things.
When it comes to BL, there are similarlities in BLs made in each country. If you don't like that being commented on, you don't have to comment on it. Just because someone on here shares an opinion you disagree with doesn't mean that opinion is directed at you. And if you aren't involved in making poorly written Thai BLs, my comment shouldn't impact you in anyway. You inserting yourself into my comment to defend Thai BLs serves no purpose other than to waste both of our time. If you can't see the similarities in BLs from each country, that has nothing to do with me. But after watching over 700 BLs, I stand by my comment even if you think it's weird.
It's sad that so many Thai BLs continue to give audiences characters and "plots" that were old 5 years ago. While many other countries are consistently creating BLs with great stories and characters in high school, college and adults, many Thai companies don't even act like they're trying anymore.
If you've ever seen a Star Hunter Entertainment series, nothing here will surprise you. I'm guessing that the target audience are people whonwill watching any BL and people new to BL who have not seen this story done over and over. But to all those people watching BL for the first time, I promise you, there are much better series than this one.
I hope everyone got paid for their work, but I'm not watching anymore of this.
I don't feel invested in either relationship yet, but I do like the dynamic between the 2nd couple more than the 1st. I rarely say anything against age gaps, but the high schooler acts soooooo young that it feels weird to think him eventually dating his teacher who is at least 24. But I'm sticking with the series since it is one of the few non-Thai BLs currently airing.
