Wow, when I started the series, I thought it would be a horror BL. As the weeks went on I became frustrated because it wasn't fitting into the conventions for either genre. Then I watched episode 7 and saw it in a new light.
If you came expecting horror, it's only there for a few minutes per episode. If you came expecting BL where 1 or 2 couples fall in love or stay in love throughout the course of the series, NOT GONNA HAPPEN HERE. But if you came looking for a series where every adult male with speaking lines hooks up with whatever guy is standing near him, two truly awful people take up most of the screen time, a couple of ghosts stand around, plus tarot cards and a little boy who sleeps all the time, this is the show for you!!!
Episode 7 gave and kept giving. I counted at least 4 sex scenes (none were fun to watch). There was even a shocking twist and I can't wait for next week. This is telenovela/lakorn/soap opera level storytelling turned up to 100 and at this point, I expect nothing less! The BL fan in me wished Koon, Danjai and Qatar could get away from all these terrible and messy people, but I know that's not gonna happen. And after 7 weeks I've embraced whatever this is.
I literally thought of Physical Therapy while watching this latest episode. I don't know it's as bad as PT but…
I agree, it's not as bad as PH, but it's bad. No one here behaves like a real person. But Blue is just too much blah that I want to yell at him to get it together. Maybe he's depressed, idk and at this point I don't care.
Like you said in your comment above, I'm sticking with the show to find out what happened to Blue and why he and Nail look alike. Everything elseis uninteresting to me.
I really missed this show last week. I was Pai throughout the whole episode. I'm rereading the manga and this show is giving me the exact same feels and I love it!!
The actors are all so great, but Sing's comedic timing is perfect (like always) and every scene with him is so funny. Even though I didn't love Tsuge in any rendition of the story and Jinta is a bit grating, everything else is a 10/10 for me.
I know I'm fangirling too much, but some of the scenes in episode 4 were giving me TayNew Meal Date vibes and I was 100% here for it!
I'm with u on this... I fast forwarded all the art scenes which was most of the episode... I actually dropped…
I like this show and I like the main characters, but for me the plot is lacking in some areas and I always use critical analysis when posting on shows. I know we're in an era where some BL pages on here demand that the series can only be praised and anything else is considered "hating" or "nitpicking". Some people want NC scenes, I want a strong script.
Personally, I'm fine with the cops, policing, reincarnation plot, and doctor all being the focus of the story. But because they're doing so much in addition to that, it feels like the show is being pulled in too many directions.
I rarely praise GMMTV, but this series is GMMTV at it's very best. When you have an incredible director, a well-written and deep story, lovely music and sound editing and actors who are completely committed to their roles, it's amazing to watch. The characters feel like real people and that includes the side characters. Series like this are why I never settle for mediocrity. Thai BL can be great and this show is proof of that.
I want to applaud Jimmy, Sea, P'Aof (he's truly the best Thai BL director EVER) and every single person involved in the making of this series 👏👏👏👏👏
Call me crazy but I watch BL to see men/boys fall in love and be in love. I don't watch it for abscract art exhibits, LOUD Opera music, boring rich people filling screen time doing rich people things, random characters filling screen time talking incessantly without ever saying anything of substance or for police procedurals.
I LOVED the first few episodes of this series. When it was about 5 friends going through cadet training, I was very invested. Now that it's become about EVERYTHING except our main characters. I'm bored and about to fall asleep in the middle of the afternoon. This LONG episode covered a lot that I was completely uninterested in. But only had 10-15 minutes with the main characters. Why?
I am glad Thai BLs are finally starting to tell any array of stories. I love that Idol Factory invested a lot of money and time into this series. I think most of the actors are doing a great job. But sometimes less is more. You don't need a cast of 20+ to tell great stort. You don't need 80+ minute episodes every week. You don't need to focus on everything and force that to connect back to the main characters.
I want to keep loving this series. And even if end up just liking it, that's fine too. I'm not expecting perfection. But I am expecting to watch a BL that actually centers on the main characters and tells a story about them. Based on next week's trailer, I'm hopeful that episode 8 gets us back to the heart of the story.
P.S. Nat is a great actor. But I wouldn't watch a series about Art, Kao and Ning. And having one shoehorned into this episode was frustrating.
I've been reading the source manga for a long time (the beginning was interesting and then I held on out of sheer…
Wow, now it all makes sense. It always amazed me that with so many well-written and complex mangas and manhwas out there, that the crappy ones get made into series. But at least now I know why the romantic aspects of the show were pretty much non-existent 🤦♀️
At first it seemed like Y Entertainment had struck gold twice and made this year's Unforgotten Night. That series was one of the best "so bad it's good" BLs ever. Over the top, ridiculous, unbelievable, parody style "bdsm", and tigers! It had every thing and I eagerly watched each week. But this is not that.
This is more like Physical Therapy than UN. A series with too many characters, no one doing anything interesting, leads that have no chemistry, odd dialogue, no plot and every technical aspect screaming AMATEUR! It's really sad when new actors get lead roles and the script and directing are MIA. I won't blame anyone for this mess besides the CEO/director Wayu 🤦♀️. This guy makes Xion of the Filipino BL company Oxin Films, seem talented by comparison.
Anyway, each episode is more boring than the last. Without 2x speed, I'd stop watching. Blue is nothing more than a damsel who clearly has no friends. I'm sure I'm supposed to pity him, but I just want him to man up, get a hobby and stop being so self-centered. Nail and Him aren't much better, but at least they aren't sad in every single scene.
On a more positive note, there is one character I really love, Nail's purse. I've never seen a purse be so skillfully integrated into so many scenes. Anytime I think it would be out of place in a scene, it shows up and steals the show. I love that random purse! (Joking)
"Itt was raped by Day" NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEE. Whoever is STILL romanticizing rape, should have discussions with people who have been raped! IT'S NOT ROMANTIC!!!!!
I feel like I watched a different series than some people here who are rating this so high. I tend to love JBLs the most and have seen so many incredible series that told complete and believable stories with the same runtime or less than this series.
I've also seen so many great Japanese comedies that had me laughing throughout. But here the idea worked better than the execution. "Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai VS Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko" does a great job in highlighting BL tropes in a very funny way, while also being a BL. This was generic, by the numbers and boring. So boring that I ended up watching the last episode on 1.5 speed which I NEVER do for JBLs, because I wasn't invested in anything that was happening (except the relationship between the managers) and just wanted to get it over with.
For me, this was barely a BL. I was never given one reason to think that these people were romantically in love with each other. And I've kinda run out of patience with series that call themselves BLs, but the leads wait until the last 5 minutes of the series to actually get together. It's called boys love, not boys idol worship or boys crush. But I did think the parts Hajime was grappling with the difficulties of being a former child star and the misery of reading mean fan comments online were interesting and realistic. Overall, this one was a miss for me.
I randomly watched this to see if it really is as bad as people say and after 12 mindnumbingly long episodes, I can honestly say it's soooooo much worse than I could have ever imagined. If an alien landed on Earth and was immediately tasked with creating a BL and it had no idea what a BL was or what humans and human relationships were like, I think it would make this.
Even sitcoms made for babies have more continuity than this series. Every few minutes a new mini episode started that had nothing to do with what came before or after. At first, I was in awe of the shit show I was watching, but as the episodes went on, it became harder to stay awake and not pull out my hair.
I wasn't gonna call it the worst BL ever until I realized that the lead couple behaved throughout the entire series like people who'd just met and were COMPLETELY uncomfortable with any physical contact. Which is ironic given the title of the series. Even at the very end our bored, constantly frowny uke, who never bothered to work or do anything, was totally disgusted by any advance from his partner.
But to make matters worse nearly every woman in the series was TERRIBLE. I will never understand why a genre mostly made for female viewers keeps churning out awful series with detestable women, but this one had so many awful women that I wanted to scream. Milk's sister was the absolute worst.
I feel bad for the actors who all seemed as confused as me in each episode. Sadly this is the latest reminder that talentless writers and directors often go on to make many crappy series, but the actors are the ones whose careers can start and end quickly just because of one shitty series. And that sucks. I have no idea how this is rated a 6, it should be a 3 or lower.
Your comment is interesting! Atleast, they tried for the horror genre. They show us imperfect characters, that's…
I was focused on the horror aspects more than the BL aspects. But at this point there's barely any horror elements in the series. Qatar is the only person here that MIGHT be considered a green flag. But he's a side character at least for now.
I finished this week's episode and once again my opinion of the series has decreased. At this point it's a sex compilation with someone suffering from serious mental health issues and a little boy who sleeps constantly. I've resorted to watching all of Tew's scenes on 2x speed because they are painful to watch.
The youtube views seem to decrease nearly every week, so I'm guessing I'm not the only person who isn't enjoying it.
I agree with everyone saying this EP was the weakest so far. I get Phaya has to discover stuff and find shit out…
Phaya's sister is too much for me. I hate disliking female characters in BL, but every time she's on screen I roll my eyes. It's like she thinks they're still little kids and he doesn't have a life and serious/important job that is justifiably monopolizing his time.
But the constant hitting is really grating on me. I could excuse it once or twice early in the series. But it feels like every episode one of leads is hitting the other in the face. I know they have a violent job, but also knowing that they like each other and are end game, makes it feel like domestic violence to me. Which is never ok. I'm sure some people would say I'm being too sensitive or "that's how guys are", but hitting your friend, coworker, future boyfriend or even a stranger is unnecessary. And I feel the writers are normalizing bad behaviors which is concerning.
You put everything i was thinking and frustrated about into the perfect words!
Thank you. I really want to keep loving this show, but I'm concerned after a year of so many series that started well and then down hill halfway through. I hope this isn't how the rest of the series goes.
*sigh* this is definitely one of the best series airing in the second half of the year, but this episode was frustrating. The first few episodes clearly established that Phaya and Tharn have a deep connection, that Tharn felt a strong need to protect Phaya and that Tharn's visions and Phaya's dreams are very important to their past and future. So why the heck is Tharn behaving like Phaya is an irritant that he wants to stay away from at all costs?
I literally went back and rewatched episode 5 after I finished 6 thinking I missed something and I still don't get it. For some reason, Tharn has developed resting b*tch face and an aversion to communication. And now every time something meaningful is about to happen it's either a dream, the doctor or Dao show up to derail everything. I can deal with the sister talking constantly filling screen time unnecessarily to rehash stuff we already know. I can deal with some random archeologist/gallery owner having a book that Phaya conveniently finds and immediately opens to a relevant page. I can deal with the writers not wanting Tharn and Phaya to get into a relationship too soon. But it's really hard to deal with miscommunication and 2 steps forward and 1 step back over and over. Billy is doing a great job, the cop stuff is very interesting, but Tharn's behavior isn't lining up with who we've seen in previous episodes and I hope that is corrected in episode 7.
P.S. I know that Tharn and the doctor are very close and from Tharn's perspective Phaya is being mean to the doctor. But for me, that's not reason enough to treat Phaya like that without even being willing to have a conversation knowing how deep their connection is.
I stuck around as long as I could. I was looking forward to PeteWay, but the constant gaslighting by the writers has become too much. When show becomes completely unenjoyable and every scene with the MLs feels like torture, I gotta drop it. I've watched a lot of awful BLs, but the ones with wasted potential are the ones that are the most disappointing to me.
I finished it and I still feel really bad for TutorYim fans. This wasn't the worst BL of the year, but it was extremely bad. So bad that I laughed out loud multiple times at the absurdity and ridiculousness. So that made it watchable on 2x speed with a lot of fast forwarding.
I remember when we used to beg the BL gods for series that weren't set in high school or college. Now we've reached a "be careful what you wish for" era. Who knew the series with adults could have characters that are much less mature than the ones in high school. I wouldn't be surprised if someone gave chatgpt a ton of greeting cards, the keywords, "cute", "boyfriend" and "perfect" and asked it to write a series and this was the result. Then they added terrible sound cues every few seconds to make it even more annoying. I really hope the is the worst thing Mandee ever produces because anything worse would truly be unwatchable.
If you came expecting horror, it's only there for a few minutes per episode. If you came expecting BL where 1 or 2 couples fall in love or stay in love throughout the course of the series, NOT GONNA HAPPEN HERE.
