This is one of the few Thai BLs where the acting, directing, sound and editing aren't the problem, but the issues completely lie with the writing. Everyone did the best they could with a spectacularly bad script.
I'm so tired of being gaslit by Thai BLs written by people who clearly have never been in a serious relationship, have no idea what character development looks like and have never known a guy in his late teens or early 20s.
Everything that happened in the first 15 minutes of the final episode should have happened 5 or 6 episodes earlier. This series could have been great or even good. But dragging out the two main plot points and rushing them in the last episode was wrong. Not spending much time on the 2nd and 3rd couples and then forcing us to spend SOOOOO much time with ZeeSalmon was unforgivable. Only spending 5 minutes with Sprite and Zee reconciling was ridiculous. Having Namking get hurt by everyone (including her brother who never bothered to tell her he was dating her long time crush) was really mean. Not contacting the police to have violent criminals arrested or telling any adults about the other characters who did really messed up/shady/stalkerish things was stupid.
Not having Zee or Sprite grow/improve/evolve at all from episode 1 to 12 proves that the writer doesn't understand the basics of writing. But forcing First to get over what Sprite and Zee spent MONTHS doing to him in about 24 hours, makes this the most frustrating BL of the year (it's only January so I'm sure many more very frustrating series are on the way). Since when is it ok to lie to someone you claim to love, never apologize, never explain why you did what you did, never ask for forgiveness, never make amends, break a promise you just made to that person for no reason and then guilt trip the person into immediately forgiving you? That's not love, it's manipulation.
There were so many ways this could have been better. I'm disappointed, but I'm glad I watched the series because Frame is really great. I hope a decent company signs him and Ryan very quickly. I don't need them to be a ship, but I want to see both actors in future series.
Without Purse this episode felt empty 😮💨. I've given up on expecting anything from the actors, even award winning actors couldn't do anything with this "script". The guy playing Phai is the only one who seems to know this is beneath him and I'm fully here for each of his "so over this" looks.
I hope someone is enjoying a hefty tax break for making this, because the rest of us were given nothing to enjoy.
Every week I come in here, ignore the endless debates and praise my favorite show airing now. BUT NOT THIS WEEK! I'm mad, hurt, sad and feel cursed by the BL gods 😭😭😭😭. Why, why, why is this show filled with lovable, relatible, precious, adorkable characters ending in 2 episodes?!?!?!?!?!?! How? Why? I NEED at least 10 more episodes or I'm gonna riot!!!! 😡
But seriously, this week had the funniest topless scene I've ever seen in a BL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 our invincible Toki is hilarious. Sahara and Toki are the best examples of "intamacy doesn't always require skinship". I love them together 🥰
If this had been marketed as a series about a time traveling host, I think people would be loving it right now!!!! I'm only half joking.
It's bad, production, "acting", lack of a script, random sex scenes, all bad. But at least it's not trying to be more than what it is. There have been so many comparably bad Thai BL scripts and actors in just the last 6 months, that were no better or worse than this. Sure some of those other series created SHIPS that are churning out "couple" content 24/7. But bloated casts of non-actors, an unlimited amount of NC scenes and plots that go nowhere, have become the standard. And unless/until fans start demanding more, even from their new found favs, we're gonna get a lot more series like this.
but should stories like this never get told then? Rape happens IRL but it shouldn't happen in shows we consume?Getting…
I say rape shouldn't be romantized, you misconstrue my words and decide that I've suggested that rape stories should never be told. That's not what I said and I would never say that. My suggestion of "Whoever is STILL romanticizing rape, should have discussions with people who have been raped", does not translate to stories about rape never being consumed.
Some of the best stories I've read/seen have included rape. "The Effect" was able to depict rape realistically and not romantically and is a series I'd recommend to anyone who wants to watch a series on the topic. But Love Syndrome 3 and the blurb for this series clearly show that this rape will lead to love. Which is a harmful trope imo.
Me voicing my opinion on here about a show that hasn't aired yet, is my right. Just like you have the right to voice your opinion, watch and even enjoy it. Rape happens to people every day. That won't change if this show does or does not air. And my opinion won't change even if you disagree with it.
I have nothing else to say to you on this matter. We clearly watch BLs for different reasons and enjoy different things about them. Neither us needs permission from the other to watch anything. And I won't be watching this series.
They could have just named the series "Amy". She had so many scenes and her existence sums up everything wrong with the series. Spending time with a spoiled brat female character, who is only there to keep the leads from getting together sooner, while making it clear that she's an extremely unlikeable and rude person, is not what ANYONE watching a BL wants to see. But that's what we got. Plus two "couples" that had no chemistry.
Our main couple were also unlikeable. With Athip being transported directly from a Mad Men era world, where the seme controls everything and everyone around him, is rich, acts on impulse, but always gets his way. And our uke, has a complete aversion to skinship, helpless, pitiful and of course poor. They are a match made in bickering heaven. Barely a peck after 8 episodes, but they will be together forever because those are the lines they were given.
The other couple was better but Teng's boyfriend played the male version of Amy in this storyline and once again most of his scenes were irritating and predictable. The side characters were all fine and I really liked Athip's niece. This aired around the same time as "La Cuisine" and that show was light years better than this. Overall, not much happened, nothing mattered, everything was predictable, the characters who got the most screen time were the worst and it had enough MOMENTS to fill 20 "sweet BL moments" bingo cards. They also gave a great life lesson, hardwork, self improvement and experience are meaningless, because in life all you need is a rich boyfriend to hand you everything you ever wanted 🤮
Every time I think it couldn't get any worse, it does. There is no way this show improves and I'm fine with that. But the complete lack of mental health professionals, police investigatiors, schools (you know the place children usually go during the day instead of listening to conversations about MURDER) and neighbors, in a city as big as Bangkok is just too much for me to handle. But of course skilled mental health professionals, cops, schools and neighbors can't exist in this world or there would be no "plot" and everything could resolved immediately.
Glad there were multiple sponsors for this episode. I hope that means the actors are at least being paid for this disaster. And I'm looking forward to the truth about Khun being revealed next week. It's past time everyone knows what he did. In the end, as long Qatar and Danjai survival, I'll be happy. But Danjai is going to need A TON of therapy and a school!
BOC consistently has series with strong writing and interesting characters. I rarely think horror BLs are even mildly scary and most miss the mark for me in terms of the horror elements. But DFF is doing everything right (so far).
This episode was so suspenseful and sooooo frustrating, but in a good way. The bad characters are so bad 🤬 and the good characters have all my sympathy. But I can't figure out Tee. The mystery is also working really well. I can't wait for the backstory next week and to watch everything play out. I hope the storytelling remains compelling for the remainder of the series.
Just coming in for my weekly praise of this amazing series. I love everything about it. Cherry Magics (manga, anime and both live action series) are the only BL/yaoi where I'd actually want to work in that office. Everyone seems so thoughtful and supportive 🥰. Also, Jinta really grew on me this week, he reminded me of Hira fron My Beautiful Man when he was spying on Min. And I LOVE Hira.
Anyway, I felt bad for Karan, but love where the story is going. And SingJan will always be my number 1 GMMTV hetreo ship (couple), they were WONDERFUL this week 🥰
I think they made Babe portray Wansarut because of fanservice. I don't think fans would be as much hyped about…
Thanks for reminding me how childish and obnoxious some people here are. I'm not confused about anything and I know how to use the block button when dealing with people who have literally watched less than 5 series on here and don't know how to have a mature conversation. Our conversation ends here. Because you're trying to win an argument when I'm not even arguing. Go watch more BLs before trying to talk down to someone who actually knows the genre and was praising the episode.
I think they made Babe portray Wansarut because of fanservice. I don't think fans would be as much hyped about…
🤔 Sounds like another way of saying "fanservice". But I'm gonna let the production company do it's thing because they definitely didn't ask my opinion.

I'm agnostic, but I have a Master's degree in world religion. I purposefully said in my first post that the I thought the mythological aspects aligned with the rest of the story. I've read hundreds of folktales and mythological stories, including Buddhist ones. So I'm probably not the person you should be writing your message to, but ok. If you want to just "accept it" that's your choice, but no one else is required to do so. And again, I don't have an issue with any of the mythological parts. But forcing Babe into Wansarut's body was a writing/directing choice that was not necessary for the story.

You make a great point that I hadn't really thought of. We've seen Wansarut before and it was Freen, but now suddenly it's Babe. And as you've said Babe was portraying a female character which is why the sister and doctor kept saying Wansarut is a woman. I think that makes no sense logically.
UNLESS the makers of the series are more concerned about constantly pushing the Billy Babe ship than they are about telling a story that doesn't make you keep asking "huh?" These days it's impossible to look at BL focused social media and not see Billy Babe or a ship from Pit Babe. I can recall Billy having a different ship not so long ago, but I guess they want us to immediately forget that, just they want us to ignore female Wansarut's nipple being exposed, as if that would ever happen if an actress were portraying the character 🤔. But speaking of Billy's last ship... Freen seems to have also outlived her usefulness to this story, because REASONS.
For the last couple of weeks I've been hoping they'd get back to making the leads the focus and letting the cases take a backseat. And that's exactly what happened this week. And I really enjoyed the episode.
The first parts with all 5 cops together again were my favorite. I can happily ignore the CGI and the female Wansarut's 5 o'clock shadow because I really wanted the mythological backstory and thought it was told in a way that aligned with the rest of the story.
I know some people are watching all the bts and shipping Billy and Babe, while others aren't doing that and pointing out shortcomings in the storytelling. Like always, I think everyone's opinions are valid, but I'm just here for an interesting BL. And that's what I got in episode 8. I hope episode 9 maintains this momentum.

P.S. Toki would be a really great therapist
